My findings when comparing the two goggles. Everything in this video is based on my personal experience alone and (unfortunately) nobody sponsored this video 😂
Hope you could find something out of this useful.
PS: Play at 1.5x or 1.75x speed for a more enjoyable experience 😜
PPS: link to a better foam than the one I initially custom made, hopefully it fits you too:

Hey just a follow-up. I returned the Integra goggles last week and my G2 arrived yesterday. I very much like the diopter adjustment as well as the increased field-of-view. I also like the touchpad. I personally don't have any blurry issues. Your video helped a lot. thank you.

But, how's the fit? I've yet to hear anyone say they fit good and don't hurt somewhere on their nose. Also, they have lots of light leak around the perimeter. Mads Tech says they fans don't work pretty much at all for de-fogging, and if you are a person who sweats a lot, they will become soaked with sweat 💦 ! Yuck! So many compromises. Let's just face it, it's a bad design. A bad design DJI doesn't seem interested at all in fixing.

I'm so glad I stuck with my DJI V2 goggles! They work fantastic for analog too. I got custom diopters made from RHO LENS in Germany, and my image quality is crystal clear edge to edge all the time! A Fantastic image that's 💯% perfect! Those lenses are the key! I got the 2nd foam DJI made and they fit perfect and comfortable with zero light leak, after I made a small foam part to fit my nose tip area. Simple to do, but patience is needed so you don't pluck out too much foam to allow light leaks. It's just a matter of tiny plucks so you don't take too much away at once. With the iFlight Crystal antenna kit, it's as compact as it can be and gets great reception.

@@KOrnhOliO1 Glad to hear. It seems there are no perfect goggles. I was flying around today with my crocodile baby/DJI 03 air unit with the goggles 2. I must admit the image was stunning. But you're right the fit isn't the greatest with significant light leak. The bitter and the sweet.

@@scotthines5834 Yeah, light leak kinda ruins the immersive experience, IMO. I saw a brand new video yesterday where a guy said he got the newest foam for the G2 and it was the fix. I'd search for it. It's the only thing that made my V2's fit perfect and be so comfy! :)

@MrCoffis Жыл бұрын
Thanks! 😊 Keep in mind though that if you are going to buy the avata (with the G2) you will apparently need to take out your phone to affirm your gps position so that you can unlock your drone. (I don’t own an avata so I don’t know details) The integra has an integrated GPS that makes your life much easier in this regard, since you don’t need a phone to go flying. I did not delve into these topics because others already talked about it and I wanted my review to be “display” centric which is what’s most important imo for general fpv pilots.
@KOrnhOliO1
@KOrnhOliO1 Жыл бұрын
The Avata is amazing, but fragile, like all DJI drones. The 03 air unit is the exact same optics as the Avata. You can buy a better and more durable Avata as an FPV drone, made with a carbon fiber frame, like all FPV drones pretty much are. Other end of the spectrum in durability and also cheaper! You'll have a gigantic variety of batteries costing you a fraction of those unbelievably over priced DJI batteries. You can choose between bigger batteries that will give you longer flight time, or smaller batteries that will give you less flight time, but significantly more maneuvering and much better handling. These FPV drones with the same exact image quality as Avata are available in many different sizes too. Lots of great reviews to watch here on KZbin. Just search for DJI 03 Cinewhoop or something similar. Definitely my choice because you can buy two for not much more than one Avata, and they're way more durable, repairable, and versatile. And batteries are a fraction of the price! 😎🤘

If you are flying with the dji avata the integra makes your life easier due to the remote id spiel. You won’t have to log in through your phone every time you go flying since it has integrated GPS. Just something to keep in mind. There are other features too that are different in each but imo not worth to talk about because they don’t really change anything. @@prarthnaroles2253 you can buy a strap or a clamp that holds the battery on the strap for the G2s (Or even 3D print one) to get the same integrated feel. The battery would then also be replaceable as compared to the integras. The integras can not be replaced that easily and you’ll have to, once the batteries start to lose their capacity. You’ll have to do some spot welding to replace the old ones with newer ones. Not something that’s impossible to do just a little bit of a hassle once every year or maybe more.

Hey thank you for that video. You have been reading my mind. I've been using the Integra for the last several days and dislike the field of view when in 4:3 aspect ratio. It looks like a TV set across the room. 16:9 looks good. But I much prefer flying in 4:3. I ordered the Goggles 2 for increased immersion as you stated. I guess I'll send back the one that doesn't work for me. Sounds like the secret is to get your eyes closer to the lenses. Great video for all of us with short attention spans.

Haha thanks😊. Glad I could be of help. I was trying to make the video as entertaining as possible while informative at the same time. I think you will prefer the G2s, but neither is a perfect goggle. The first thing you will hate is the small sweet spot. If you fly 4:3 though the issues I have talked about most probably won’t be a thing for you. It’s mainly when flying in 16:9 at the very far edges that you will see some blurring (after coming closer to the lenses) I also felt like looking at a TV screen with the integras btw. I am coming from analog box goggles where the screen is huge and going back to a smaller fov is hard. 😜

Thanks appreciate it. 😊 If you are going for avata then the picture in the goggles is one part of what you should think about. The other part would be convenience. If you are flying in a region where remote id is mandatory then you will have to take your phone out everytime before flying which annoys a lot of people. The integra has a GPS built in which then sends it to the drone so that the pilots location is made public. Verifying your position would have to done manually with your phone otherwise. Hence you won’t have to worry about anything before flying other than turning on and strapping into your goggles.

Which camera effect are you referring to? The worst lens effect is the blurriness of the outer edges of the G2. It’s not an issue for everyone but it’s a rather common issue. My main concern is the distance between the lenses because I have a large head and this is an issue with VR goggles. This would be my first set of drone goggles. Also, the part about glare on the lenses. I have struggled with this with frameless reading glasses and figured out that if I darken the edges with a black marker this does not happen. I wonder if this would work on the Integra? Could you tell me which goggles would support eyes being farther apart?
@MrCoffis
@MrCoffis Жыл бұрын
When it comes to design and hence the IPD is identical on both goggles. The glare is introduced mainly by the plastic diopter inserts. Its something that happens inside the lenses the way light is dispersed within the lens. The G2s unsharp corners on the other hand do become clearer by obstructing a part of the lens edges. That is because the unsharpness is introduced at the edges though bad optics (geometry of optics) but the lenses used are better since they are not plastic like for the integra. Again the plastic lenses are only necessary if you need correction and you can always custom order better ones. If you say you had a problem with VR goggles and their IPDs then you will probably have a problem with these too. I own VR goggles too and I think the IPD could have a bit more range. For me its right on the limit of acceptable. Given that, I think the integras are probably the safer bet out of the 2 but, if you can test drive both before purchase it would be the best thing for you to be able to make the right decision.

@MrCoffis
@MrCoffis 8 ай бұрын
There is a good chance that the edges will be blurry on the G2 yes. The image from the integras is clearer at the edges but you have less field of view and have to use plastic lenses if you wear glasses which make the image worse. So which one you choose depends on what you prefer. Bigger field of view and better diopter adjustment at a higher price or a smaller field of view with plastic inserts at a cheaper price. At least in respect to picture quality. There are other factors too like integrated battery and gps on the integra which is important for flying the avata drone.

I went ahead and bought the kit from DJI, the Avata drone, the G2 and both controllers. I have a pretty fat head so I had already tried on a pair of the G2’s, and I found the exact same problem that you talked about with the outside edges being really blurry, but I planned on making some modifications myself and like you I liked the glass diopters better, however, I’m trifocal glasses so I just got a print of my script from my glasses that I just got made like three weeks ago and I’m going to a third-party to get some glass Prescription diopters for the G2. I also ordered a use set of goggles Integra just to see, if I like those or if they felt any different on my face. I’m kind of torn in between on the way you control either one of them you know one with a joystick one with sliding your finger on a pad. They both are kind of a pain in the butt lol anyway, I’ll keep in touch with you and let you know how things progress lol I did order your softer foam inserts that you sent me a link to.hopefully those will help. They’re supposed to put you pretty close to the glass. Anyway, thank you for all your help. I really appreciate it. Thanks again Larry.

You are welcome. Let me know which you prefer between the two once you get the integra. Would be interesting to see. Most people prefer the G2 because of the bigger fov but some find the blurry edges annoying and prefer the integra. One thing to note though the avata is not an ideal drone to use with the G2. You will have to take out your phone to register your location because of rfid where as with the integra you have that gps integrated into the goggles giving you the “turn on and fly experience.”

My initial assessment that you don’t really notice the edges when flying was right and I enjoy the bigger field of view. Also the dji foam gave in a bit which made it a bit more comfortable to wear and gets you a bit closer to the lenses. I also got a 3rd party foam which makes it more comfortable and improves the blurriness, though my only gripe is that I still notice that there is no sweet spot. Getting closer to the lenses also introduces a halo in the peripheral vision but the screens are perfectly clear. Going further back removes the halo but introduces the blurriness. So there is no perfect sweet spot. And am always between the OG foam and 3rd party foam. That said though the integra also had the same halo in the peripheral view (probably because of the smaller fov; squeezing more degrees into the field of view), so it’s not something you can evade with either of the goggles. All in all I am very happy with the goggles. They are lightweight, small and disappear in the bag pack. Have great colourful screens and I think they make all the difference. Even when having blurriness isn’t an issue during flying, it still is disappointing it even exists considering the price. 🫤

No unfortunately not. I didn’t have my drones at the time because I ordered them while being abroad, but I am guessing it shouldn’t be much different. The omni antennas are a bit larger on the integras and the internal patches should be the same. I haven’t heard anyone say anything about there being a difference in range and penetration by anyone so am guessing the difference should be a minor one.

Interesting observations m8. I actually flew my dji avata with goggles 2 for the first time today. It was also my first time ever flying fpv. I did realize right away that the images seen on the edges were blury. Especially the text was very difficult to read. I messed with the goggles and adjusted then until I found the sweet spot which was pushing them downwards more towards my nose. The reason why I am here is because I totally dislike the 2 cables coming out of the goggles 2. I hear the integra doesn't need cables coming out of it and that they can be charged with a power bank while being used. Because of this I might return the goggle 2 amd get the integras.
@MrCoffis
@MrCoffis 7 ай бұрын
That’s the thing some things can be both positives and negatives. Like the integrated battery on the integra is better because you don’t have cables hanging out but it’s worse when you need to recharge and even more so when you need to be showing your POV to a director at the same time if you do it professionally because that USB C port is going to be used up by it. Being able to quickly swap batteries is a plus in those situations. There are battery holders you can buy which you attach the battery to the strap and the experience gets more integra like. Its very nuanced and you need to know your own usecase. For the dji avata the integra is a better fit because of the integrated gps and if you are flying it recreationally you don’t care about the battery/director situation and it comes down to price and picture quality. Personally I enjoy the wider fov more. The integra feels more like you are looking at a screen and the G2 is more immersive. If it justifies the price difference probably not but it’s something the individual has to decide for themselves. For me I wanted to have the most immersive experience possible and I haven’t regretted my choice in hindsight though it did hurt my wallet 🫤

@@MrCoffisthat's awesome dude. Yes before I decided to get the goggles 2 I did in fact do some major research into the 2 goggles. I guess I just forgot why I chose the goggles 2 over the integra. I basically chose goggles 2 over the integra because of everything you said. Also I believe the goggles 2 could wirelessly stream to other goggles and devices which is cool for sharing flight experience with others. I actually do have a battery clip for my headset straps although now il have to find a way to manage the cable that goes to my phone for the GPS ID. I just don't understand why they couldn't make it so that the GPS information could be retrieved from the phone wirelessly. Maybe a firmware update will make this possible in the future?

@@edgararcega3046 it’s definitely possible according to the hardware built into the G2 (bluetooth 5.2 etc) but dji isn’t really known to listen to the wants of the community so I wouldn’t hope on it. It’s definitely odd they built so much hardware into it but have not delivered any features that use it as of yet. So if they ever release any new features the G2s will probably be the one receiving them over the integras because of the hardware it has which the integra lacks and the price difference. But as of now the integra is the better option in that regard for avata pilots. Also the feature you mention about sharing a flight is also possible with the integra if am not mistaken. The spectator mode? I have used it with my friends but we all have the G2 so am not sure.

If you have the V2s and are satisfied with them I would stick with the V2s. I don’t see any benefits in going for the G2s beyond the smaller footprint of the goggle. If you are already satisfied save yourself the money. 720p vs 1080p is not a deal breaker either. Unfortunately with goggles you have to try them on to be able to tell. But if you go closer on G2's, as this image states (kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4Wqnpuso7OVl80), then you reduce your FOV to 44 degrees what Integra already did, so you then basicaly reduced the FOV. The red line is the FOV right? Am I getting this right or not?
@MrCoffis
@MrCoffis Жыл бұрын
You are looking at the lenses from a different point of view. The usable field of view, in other words the fov that is without blurriness, is about 44 degrees. When you get closer you essentially are looking at the 51 degrees through the center region of the lens and disregard the outer blurry parts. (any angle covers a greater distance further away) This unfortunately also increases the fov of the blacks around the screen and when you get too close you get a halo in your peripheral view like in the integras. So the margin that you have to find that sweet spot is very small.

So i think you missed a point. For some the googles 2 fit so bad that you are even further away from lens. Especially if the bridge of your nose is raised. Or if you have a medium to larger nose. In that case the integra might be the only remotely usable goggles out of the two. Even if i remove the faceplate i cannot get a clear image on the goggles 2. Also, some of your points about picture quality are pretty mute when it comes to actually flying. You dont fly in ultra dark conditions like that. Your not going to notice or see those reflection's. I do Appreciate your in-depth analysis of the lenses but your test images were definitely flawed.
@MrCoffis
@MrCoffis Жыл бұрын
I agree that when you fly, the image you see is a lot brighter. I just used dark images to find out what exactly was going on with the lenses and why the image appeared to look better to me on the G2 when it comes to contrast and clarity in the center region. It turned out to be the plastic lens inserts. The reflections btw happen more intensely on the G2s than on the integra. So the integra is better in that regard. The integra just removes some contrast if you use the inserts which I have to use. The fit of the G2 and integra for me is identical since they are out of the same mold and the faceplate of the integras is worse than the G2. The integras as I said in the video when you get closer to the lenses, they have a perfect image edge to edge where as the G2s improve significantly in my case but still is not perfect. If your face is not compatible with the design of these goggles then obviously you need to be at a greater distance from the goggles for you to be comfortable. I have said to others in the comments too, if you can try them on before buying, do so, because goggles are like shoes. There is no 1 size fit all. Especially when it comes to the G2s where the margin you have for the sweet spot is tiny. I have done further testing with the G2s since then and I believe the lenses are of cheap quality and I wouldn’t be surprised if some people have better lenses/ hence better image and some worse. I have 3D printed inserts that block a significant portion of the lens and that improved clarity which to me means light rays mix when they shouldn’t be mixing. I don’t know what QC standards dji has for their lenses but I know lens manufacturing is hard and definitely not cheap.

@@MrCoffis oh that interesting with the 3d printed inserts. Now that I have used both goggles I know what you mean. @@MachuPichuu yep. The inserts are sadly bad. If you use the goggles without them the image coming from the integras is perfect albeit at the cost of a smaller FOV. I suspect so too that better prescription lenses will be better but will also cost you extra. Neither is better when you consider the whole package. It comes down to personal preference and use-case. I for example use the feature of a replaceable battery of the G2s while using the USB-C port to display the shot on a monitor to a director or spotter. @@MrCoffis why only avata are the other ones not compatible?
@MrCoffis
@MrCoffis Жыл бұрын
@@chrisdera They are I meant it as in if you fly with the avata most of the time it makes more sense to fly with the integra as you don’t have to open up your phone every time. Each goggle has its own niche usecase. Integra more suitable for pleasure G2 more suitable for professional work. It’s really a negligible difference beyond those specific usecases.

If you get a padded face plate, it will move your eyes away from the screens just enough to clear up the edges. For some people, at least.
@MrCoffis
@MrCoffis 4 ай бұрын
You need to get closer to the lenses to clear out the edges…but too close you start getting a halo in your peripheral view and smudges from your eyelids on the lenses. I have added a link in the description to the foam I use right now.

Hey sorry about that. I haven’t made one because my initial foam was a bit stupid and was falling off since I had to cut it up into several pieces but it was a proof a concept for me to see that it actually can be “fixed” to a certain extend with a better foam. I went on and bought a new foam that works for me in a similar way to my frankensteined version. I discovered him on youtube right about the time I uploaded my video. Thanks for letting me know I’ll put it up in the description for people who might be looking for a better foam. Here is the video of the guy who I think made it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zoumo2lun5Z9hs0si=HYCPbO4m9wk6UiM2

I wish I could have compared them to the V2s 🫤 but the market for them is fiercely fought over. One thing I really enjoy about the G2s is the size. Though I would probably not mind the bigger V2s since my controller alone is already bigger than both goggles combined 😂

Yeah but it defeats the purpose of having a wider fov. If you can get it cleared up by getting closer to the lenses then that’s ideal.

Yes. For the integra it would be best if you can get custom prescription as the inserts they are shipped with are of bad quality, but they get the job done if you have + or - only. For astigmatism you need to make your own lens inserts. This applies to both goggles.
