This is by far the most beautiful footage I have seen from the inspire1/X5R combo. Great flying/filming/color grading work. Well done sir!

Thank you for the professional review. I work in post so it's both nice and unfortunately rare to see videos posted by people who know what they're talking about. Really good test!

This is so wonderful and exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much for the extensive information in the description. If you're willing to elaborate, could you give some more details on the shutter? "depending on subjects I used speeds of 1/50 ... 1/200s" Generally which subjects for which speeds?
@hansleysieffer33228 жыл бұрын
I mostly use 1/120 s ... the read-out speed of the X5R sensor is really not top quality, so shutter-free recording is not possible at high flying speeds... but I guess the most impressive footage is at lower soft speeds...

Hey Hans I'm coming back to this video that I love to watch all the time when I need inspiration and I though I would ask you a question. I have been playing around with some of djis inspire 2 raw ample footage and when I exported and uploaded to KZbin it doesn't look as "sharp" as yours. I uploaded at uhd and encoded with about 45mb. Do you add any sharpening in post and could you maybe watch my latest KZbin video and let me know if you have any idea why my footage looks soft as hell. My only guess is it could be because of the dark exposure but I'm still not sure, thanks!

Hi Dawson, thanks for your comment...happy that you like the video! Some remarks on sharpness.... first, KZbin does a hell of compression as you know, I've tried higher bitrates and this helps a little. My recommendation is min 100 Mbit/s for 4K UHD. The other two aspects concern shooting with the X5R/Inspire 1: first, the readout speed of the sensor is not quite good, I've seen some remarks in the Web saying around 25 ms which is very poor. So you cannot expect sharp images at high flying speeds basically... the other aspect is shutter time as I mentioned in another response here: based on my experience 1/120 s is a good balance between smooth images and sharpness. But I do sharpening in post.. at least a little bit on Davinci Resolve 12.5, and a little bit of noise reduction as well... the last improvement in version 12 of Resolve is a big step of de-noise quality which also helps in darker image areas like shadows. And last but really not least is the quality of the lens... I am only using the Olympus Zuiko 12 mm which is far better than the 17 mm delivered by DJI. I was hoping that Fujinon would jump into the Micro Four Third (MFT) market but they have not... I own two Cine Cabrio lenses for my "big ship" Sony F65, and the quality of the Fujinon glass is really amazing in resolution, sharpness, and the absolute lack of chromatic aberration. Hope these hints help and keep going... Cheers Hans

Hans Leysieffer ahh I see, well I only ask becuase your x5r footage is by far the sharpest I've seen. I guess it was a little muddy becuase the files were downloaded from the Internet and may have been compressed. I'm hoping to get an inspire 2 soon and with 4.2 gigabits per second I should have no problem rendering out a great video at any speed. Thanks!

The shot at 1:08 is perfect!! Do you notice difference in the 15mm DjI vs 12mm Olympus ?
@hansleysieffer33228 жыл бұрын
The 15 mm DJI is good as a starter lens but not comparable in any way to the Olympus 12 mm. The Olympus is really sharp and has sufficient resolution for 4K and very low chromatic aberration.

Did you use any nd filters or polarized filters i noticed at 1:08 you have a minor flare in the upper right corner,awesome production...
@hansleysieffer33228 жыл бұрын
No polarizer ever...only ND filters, mostly ND8...the minor flare comes from direct sunlight into the lens, no way to mount an adequate sunblade...
