Thee perfect video. Why? It’s short, it’s to the point, it’s massively visual and uses appropriate footage for what is being explained. There is no waffle, none of that app recording and it comes from a reliable source. This single video alone including its tips, tricks and suggestions has confirmed the Mavic 2 Zoom is the correct one for me...finally! It answered all my questions in a short space of time. Thank you...and great job!

Wow, what a professionally done video! I know that's obvious, but I felt I just had to say it. Darn, am I anguishing over which of these 2 bombshell drones to get when I can afford it. I'm certainly leaning on the zoom, for most of the reasons you talked about. I don't know what it is, but somehow, I still feel like the Pro 2 looks a little soft on the video. I know most people would say it's cinematic, and that's probably true, but I still seem to prefer the sharpness of the zoom and certainly the flexibility the zoom allows you to shoot. I know there's people in both camps on this, but that's how I see it. Thanks for a great presentation. Marc T.

Great video! I was baffled that the Zoom was overlooked by so many people. I don't think the pro's image quality is that much better TBH. I think footage from the zoom can look just as good in the right hands. For me, having more composition options was far more interesting. I would rather have a DSLR with a wide focal range than a RAW Cinema camera that can only shoot wide. I think composition options benefits creative storytelling more than image quality. But that's just my opinion. ;-)

@@Sky1 oh please what? That's a great range for aerial and there is a very distinct difference in look and feel at each end of that range. When it comes to aerial, I don't think you'd want to go much wider or longer for a good cinematic image. Everyone has their personal taste and that's ok. I find the focal range of the zoom to be very beneficial.

Damn, just when i pretty much decided on the pro, i watch this and again dont know anymore ugghhh...! How would you compare the Pro's HQ mode (shoots at 1.4 crop equalling 40mm essentially, then you can digitally zoom 4k to essentially 80mm) vs the zoom's optical zoom? I know obviously optical zoom is way better than digital crop but i ask myself if in this situation it would make a huge difference? Its only 24 to 48 after all, still not a tele lens... And the 10bit DLog of the pro would just offer much more for color grading... Any thoughts?

It has some strange artifacts, compared to the Mavic 2 pro. There's a glistening effect on the palm leaves and then on an above footage of rocks and beach. Might be due to KZbin compression. Otherwise very pleasing composition and footage. Thanks for posting the videos. Nice work !

the zoom's image can definitely be comparable to the Pro if you take the time to grade it in post. i love how you brought out the composition benefits of the Zoom. only a few reviews even bring that up and most only relay how the only benefit of the zoom lens the dolly effect. i think the Pro's quality is great but Zoom seems more practical to use in overall story telling as a filmmaker.

Great video, although I've found that playing with the HQ mode and Full FOV on the mavic 2 pro are also kind of give this flexibility of having 2 different composition options while having the Mavic 2 pro advantages. What are your thoughts on this ?
@tomibeg6 жыл бұрын
That's true. If you don't need to zoom while filming (i.e. for already annoying dolly-zoom), M2Pro can give you almost the same cinematic look which marketed as "exclusive feature" of M2Zoom
@thefilmpoets6 жыл бұрын
Good Day that’s sort of true, I like cropping with hq, but it’s more like 38mm. So 48mm is about 25% more reach. But what’s most useful isn’t zooming mid shot, but zooming mid-composition. I shot a lot in between 24 and 48mm, like 35mm. With the zoom you can find the sweet spot. But yes I still prefer the Mavic 2 Pros sweet image.

@thefilmpoets6 жыл бұрын
Hey Melvin, SIERRA LUT will work well with any camera as longs as it's using a slightly flat profile. LOG footage needs to be corrected first. It's a useful color grade that I've used for several films. Of course, the camera's own color science is going to show through, but it will look nice on properly shot and white balanced footage. Thanks! -Matt
