man im impressed with how you managed to frame a similar movement from each for us to compare....some shots were obviously a few minutes different which can dramatically effect the low light and dynamic range comparisons but well done for your efforts

The dynamic range on the Mavic 3 is just better as expected. The shadows were lifted so much more. However, there were a few clips that I felt the opposite and I’m wondering if the clips got flipped. I have the Air 2 and I’m considering going to upgrade to the M3 Classic because the Air 2 it’s just not that good in lowlight. I have loved flying the Air 2 for two years though and I have no regrets other that it’s lowlight capability. I need that adjustable aperture now though.

Wow that is a startling difference. The Mav 3 colors are simply richer and much more true to life. The first ocean shot through the trees was breathtaking. That Hasselblad camera is amazing. Great job as always.

In my opinion, such tests are pointless because the quality of the material is destroyed by the processing process by KZbin as well as by the video editing programs themselves, such comparisons should be made on the raw file of both drones, then you can see the difference

Based on colors alone, it's obvious the Mavic 3 gets the upperhand over the Air 2! That's not saying the Air 2 captures poor quality shots, only that the Mavic 3 footage has more natural and more vivid colors compared to the Air 2 footage!

Well I am impressed about both of them! Both of them the quality is outstanding… and If to think that the mavic air is cheaper and older version compare to the 3d mavic the quality doesn’t seem to make a big step forward. My first drone was the cheeky noisy little red Mavic Air, I still have it & just cannot part with it. Now an Air 2 owner for quite a while & wow what an upgrade, cannot fault it. Slightly irked that the Air 2s popped up just after I bought the Air 2 but no regrets. Air3 is wonderful no question but Air2 is no slouch either. I certainly suffer/battle with drone upgradeitis like most of us but a little post tweek with the Air2 more than justifies its place regards quality image resolution including its zoom x4 feature (but with sensible lower expectations on that.) Staying with the Air2 but always enjoy feasting on upgrade vids (it's cheaper 😉). Happy flying to all us droners! 👍

see man y’all missing the point of this Video it’s obvious the Mavic 3 produces quality slightly better than the Air 2 yes but as a true filmmaker I HARDLY NOTICED A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO the only thing that was different was the color the Mavic 3’s colors are slightly warmer then the Air 2 but tbh as I watched this Video all the way through there are parts imo where the Air 2’s quality stood out more then the Mavic 3’s did so with that being said some of y’all in the comments don’t kno video quality of course y’all gone pick the 3 over the Air 2 that’s like picking the Inspire 2 over the Inspire 1 Pro the of course the specs on the 3 are better I will admit but overall IM PROUD I CHOSE THE AIR 2 as my second drone (first one was the Phantom 4) it’s not the camera of the Mavic 3 it’s the man behind it the Air 2 is still just as powerful and vital this Video alone makes a proud Air 2 owner so imo which drone wins??? it’s a draw just cuz as a passionate filmmaker the quality is up to YOU 💯🎥

My eyes are gravitating towards the Mavic 3. I have seen other footage where it is evident that the Mavic 3 produces better footage especially at the higher frame rates with optimal settings. Is it worth two to three times the expense of the Mavic Air 2 to get the Mavic 3? That depends on your situation. It may also be worth mentioning that the Air 2 does D-Cinelike vs the Mavic 3's D-Log. The Air 2s does D-Log as well. I would love to have the M3 but since videography is not my revenue stream the Air 2/2s is where my budget makes sense. That is my opinion. Thanks for sharing Denis !

Denis this is the best example how a proper comparison side by side should be made . this is my no 1 for drone chanel. and my personal opinion I can tell Mavic 3 looks better. but.. also I am very surprised how well Air2 stacks up. In SOME instances - I actually preffer the Air2 footage over Mavic 3. of course M3 is a better drone.

I really love my Air 2. It was pretty annoying that the 2S came out only 3 weeks after I bought my Air 2 brand new, but I still love it. Would perhaps get a Mavic 3 in the future, but for the time being I’ve been enjoying flying my Air 2. There has been a few situations where a Mini 2 would have been a good addition to my camera bag, but for 80% of situations I’ve been happy with what I have. It’s only a hobby at the mo, and I’m deffo not as far along in my video journey as this channel. This channel has some gorgeous footage, and that Madeira video was lush. But yeah I’ll have to stay with the Air 2 for now. & also I don’t know what is going to happen next January when they unnecessarily change all the rules again, and force almost all drones currently owned to become obsolete, or make us be in the wrong during every flight, so perhaps I’ll upgrade at that time. Really glad I found your channel. Wicked footage. Denis, just like to say that I appreceiate the split screen method in comparing two video shots versus showing video from one camera followed by the other camera. The split screen is far superior for this. Also, man you put some serious work into this comparison. It's not easy to fly the same flight path and framing the video with the requirement that the shots have to appear to be the same, plus post production work. Again, thanks for this comparison. BTW I have the MA2. As a hobbyist I'll stay with it, but if I was making money off of aerial shots I would definitely go with the M3.

Actually I can't see that much of a difference, and if we talk about Air 2S, diferences are even narrower... Talking about Air2s and Mavic 3 they both are 10bit... Air 2 its just 8bit, maybe this can make a diference when color grading. Still the diferences are not a big deal when talking about consumer market! :) loved this video like all the others! Congratulation for this widely revealing comparison! As soon as a new drone appear on the market, the old models are quickly forgotten. Mavic 3 is obviously superior in any respect to all its predecessors, but knowing the limits of each drone you can create beautiful footage with any of them. Working a little bit the image in a professional editor will erase almost any difference on daylight taken footage. The performance in lowlight of Mavic 3 remains superior, but so far I couldn't find the time and the place to try this, without breaking the rules. I own a Mavic Air 2 and I am very pleased. It is so maneuverable, so safe and so user friendly, as I couldn't imagine. Your highly elaborated comparison confirmed my thoughts to continue using Air 2 for a few generations of drones ahead, until a real break-trough will arise. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas!

Mavic 3 cine can do prores 12bit color and why you use different color grade?

Only the Cine version can shoot ProRes. I used the standard picture profile on both drones since Mavic 3 shoots D-Log and Air 2 only has D-CineLike. Both footages are straight from the drone, ungraded. *Also ProRes is a 10 bit format, not 12.

Mavic 3 is superior compared to aur 2. I own an air 2, quite satisfied with its video quality, but there are many issur with this drone such as it get disconnected during flight, take lot of time to connect to GPS to name a few. As I've said, I don't think many people will upgrade to the Mavic 3 if they already have the Air 2S. I probably wouldn't, cause I don't like updating to the latest gear every year and I like to push all the devices that I have to the limit. In fact if you look on my channel, some of my favorite videos are shot on Mavic mini 1 and Mini 2... and there are also a lot of comparisons between the Air 2S and the Mavic 3. Probably 95% of the people would be fine with the Air 2S as I've said before and save a lot of money, but we live in a world where everyone always wants the latest gear and wants to upgrade every year. On the other hand, for someone that waited to upgrade and didn't get the AIR 2S (someone having the mini 2 or the Air 2) that could be very useful and there are no videos about that somehow... Hope that answers your question.

The main difference between the Mavic 2 and Mavic 3 are active track and obstacle avoidance. Obstacle avoidance is much more precise on the Mavic 3

the air 2 has way to much compression noise. that might be the biggest issue especially with drones because the entire scene is moving so you see a much of noise and mush everywhere.
