honestly I just cant justify the money difference, I can get the Air2s with a fly more combo and have more flight time between the 3 batteries than the Mavic 3 and still have $900 to spend on other gear i might be wanting to upgrade or a trip somewhere to use my gear.

1000% I purchased the mavic air 2 combo to get the DJI Controller and 3 battries because why not!! its useful to be able to fly again without having to recharge that one battery. BUT Five grand!!!! oh my god... Yeah no. I'll pefer to stick with my mavic air 2 it still does well!

M43 only is 2x larger (area of sensor). So you can shoot ISO 400 and have same noise as 1” sensor has at ISO 200.

@@WeTalkUAV So I bought the Air 2S, in large part because of this video. My one complaint, the connection SUCKS. The connection on my Mavic Pro 1 could go 5 miles and was controllable. The Air 2S goes like 2 block sand starts randomly blacking out. SO SUCK. Is the Mavic 3 better for connection?

I have bought a bunch of drones starting from the Mavic 1 and what I learned is... for my use, we only use 5-10 seconds of footage to present an establishing shot. Clients can't tell the difference between a mavic mini, air2s and air 3. We still shoot at 1080 60 and rarely shoot at 4K 60. Thank you for the video and comparison review. For now I am keeping the air2s as my workhorse

I bought an Air 2S three months ago. So, I may pick up a Pro 3 towards the end of its sales life (3 years time?). At that stage it will be mature technology with firmware surely optimised and a wide range of proven accessories to choose from. Even if I did not have an Air 2S, I would be reluctant to purchase the Pro 3 for both pricing and as yet missing firmware. I do understand the many benefits of the Pro 3 not least of which is the new return to home using omni-directional sensors, the quieter motors/props and greater aerodynamics.

from the footage of the M3C I downloaded so far I can say that the M3C has slightly better shadow detail and has less macro blocking. The A2S has more actual detail and way less sharpening though resulting in a much more organic and textured image.

Agree 100% In normal colour profile the Air2S looks oversharpened, but in Dlog (+Grade) it is perfection. A filmic, organic image, well balanced. It's strange but I think i prefer the Air2s image over the M3's Please Dji! Add the sharpness setting in Fly App !

I have a P4P, M2P and a Mini 2. I use the P4P and M2P for utility inspections and mapping with Drone Deploy. Until DJI releases the SDK for the M3 it's pretty useless to me. TBH - I have been really impressed with what my tiny Mini 2 can do!

Dude. You must have zero patience. Drone deploy will be compatible with the M3 by January. And once it does support the M3. You will be able to automatically charge more. And as far as mini 2. Cuz I have one too. It’s only so “impressive” if it’s a sunny day. Other then that it has poor low light performance. I shoot real estate photos and my mini 2 doesn’t cut it for the job. Mini two only shoots single shot pictures. Not aeb, no bracket shots. Nada. So yes I have captures some wow shots with the mini. But until you see the M3 with your own eyes. The m2p with smart controller is the same price as the M3. So when I went to get a new drone I wanted the m2p because of it being compatible with drone deploy. But they are no longer making them and it’s sold out everywhere. Even the DJI store. Soooo go check it out in person before you make these statements.

I have the Autel Evo 2 Pro. I do sunset videos and night videos. Its amazing. It just doesn't get enough credit. I have 12 DJI drones and love them, but for sunset and night videos, Autel Evo 2 Pro 6K has them beat. Also Autel has the best support service hands down.

A 4/3 sensor is much bigger than any portable walking around sensor, such as a DJI Pocket 2. Maybe I'll figure a way to mount the Mavic 3 to a mini tripod and walk around with the drone? OK, yeah, to expensive if only doing that.

I went from a mini2, to the air2 with the smart controller. When they announced the price of the 3 I said that for what I do, the Air2 or the Air2/S is a "better value". Who knows, maybe if the sales on the 3 don't really fly (no pun intended) they will bring the price down, or they will release a 3/S in a year and the 3 price will drop. Regardless, I NEVER buy a brand new of anything until it has been "in the wild" for a while.

Thank you Alex for a super honest comparison review. Actually, I wish the Mavic 3 had a single 4/3" camera and not a dual one. Maybe it will happen in a future release, which will make it lighter and fly longer. And agree with you that the V2 goggles are a must for the Mavic 3 and the AIR 2S, and wish that DJI listens and delivers on this subject. There might also be a future AIR 2S release, like AIR 3S with a variable aperture, to compete with the Autel EVO Light +. So, I am not in rush for upgrading, right now, and prefer upgrading my MAC first with the coming Apple M2 chip.

my first ever drone was the Mavic 2 pro, I had to sell it for some financial issues a while back, I've since got the Air 2S, which is a great drone, it seems with the huge price difference, already having the Air 2s, it's not really worth that upgrade, though it would be nice to have the mavic 3. I watched another video today about the Air 2s having the propellers protruding into the frame under certain conditions. Have you ever experienced that? As a new recreational flyer, the omnidirectional obstacle avoidance of the Mavic 3 would be a strong selling point if I had that kind of money. Thanks for the comparison.

Or......................wait to see what the Autel Evo 3 has to offer! Thats what I decided after cancelling my order for the mavic 3 cine version yesterday. For that kind of money it is certainly best to wait! Also, I suspect that is why DJI pushed the M3 out to market without completed firmware since they probably wanted to be the first to put out a m 4/3 camera. Looks like Autel will have a m4/3 version of the EVO 3, so that is something to look forward to.

Thanks a lot. I intent to purchase the Air 2S but seeing the 3 make me re-consider that as I'm using a Lumix GX8 for stage filming and I know what it capable of as it also has a M43 sensor. Since filming is my hobby only and not making any money from it now, I think I'll go with the 2S instead for saving money.

I believe the mavic 3 doesn't use the full sensor. They did it on the action 2 only using 75% of the sensor. I think they did the same on the drone since the glass seems too small for a micro 4/3rd sensor. If so it seems like the mavic 3 isn't as far apart from the air 2s as they advertise

From what I've seen...not worth the pricey upgrade unless at most the 10-15% gain (more overall performance) in file size and added flight time is essential to work. 360 sensors would be nice but I strictly fly my drone VLS and I keep aware of what I'm flying into.

Absolutely blunt straightforward and very pragmatic comparison! This is so much better from all other (infact wonderful) KZbinrs out there! I fly a Mavic 3 at my job, and I own an Air 2s personally. After flying both extensively I can tell you, without question, that the air 2s is the better deal for most situations. The Mavic 3 is the better drone, don't get me wrong, but it's not better enough to justify the extra $1,600 (for the fly more combos). That said, if you are shooting big budget productions for film or commercial production, it's worth the mavic 3. But if you're shooting for youtube, real estate, weddings, etc, then it's just not worth the added cost. The Air 2s is excellent. The Air 2s is like 94% as good as the Mavic. Most clients can't tell the difference.

Hi and thank you for this honest video. I have the Mini 2 and for now this has been enough. I'm still learning how to get the most out of it and already had to repair it once. Eventually it would be nice to have the better camera of the Air 2 S though and I'm now starting to look for a good deal on a used one. However, so far I haven't seen those deals, which tells me that this drone is still a hot commodity.

Finally a comparison with the Air2S! Great video. You say the new sensor of Mavic 3 has a better dynamic range but in your video example I can't see much difference. It's probably because it's in sunny condition. Could you do a comparison in low light condition (sunrise or sunset) to really see the difference in the image quality?

that's right tony. it's in the low light where the micro 4/3 will shine. i have shots with the m3 in sunset landscape where i know a 100% that the air2s couldnt deliver that quality

@@WeTalkUAV Yea, Air2s Dlog footage feels very organic on my 32" 4k screen. The M3 looks oversharpened and more... digital imho. I think Dji pushed the edge detection sharpness algorithm on the M3 because it can be flattering in many ways (on tiny screens, low res video..) but it screams "digital" when viewed on wide screen.

i think i will plod on with the 2s for a while,u can get some good results if u have a good idea what you are doing with it.Ive had the mp,mp2 and now the air2s.i just cant justify spending 2k plus on the mavic 3.Tbh all these drones are pretty cool but very common nowadays,seeing drone footage and video has lost its wow factor.Maybe ill get the new one in the future but i like the portability and size of the air2s,it suits my needs.

The issue I have is that 3rd party software cannot work with this drone until DJI release the SDK kit which will allow 3rd party developers to increase the functionality of this drone. As an example DJI have only just released the SDK for the Mini2 and the Air 2s which is one year later! If dJI released the SDK earlier the issues could be addressed by 3rd party software developers, or at least as a combined effort between both parties.

On the Phantom 4+ Smart controller there was HDMI out for FPV flight. I wonder if the new smart controller has HDMI out. I have craved for a workable activetrack technology as it has been seriously underwhelming in all DJI drones so far.

I came sooooo close to buying the Mavic 3. But at the end of the day, I simply could not justify the price. I know, I know. I went with the Air 2S instead. Sometimes you have to put "getting real" up front.
