This is part of my DJI Mavic Air 2 Beginner's Guide series of tutorials.
In this tutorial I demonstrate the ActiveTrack 3.0 modes available on the Mavic Air 2: Spotlight, ActiveTrack, Trace, Parallel, POI Tutorial. I'll show you how each one works and what options you have for each Active Track (Focus Track) mode.
Once you learn to use these DJI ActiveTrack modes, or intelligent flight modes, you will be able to shoot more Mavic Air 2 cinematic shots, in 4k or 1080.

Hi Schaumermaldann - thanks! I have a limitation on what I can wear outside, unfortunately - certain medications I take require me to protect my head and arms from the sun, even in a short period of exposure. You'll notice I always wear long sleeved shirts, even when I'm filiming on a 100 degree Texas summer day LOL.

I ran into a problem the other Day with the Mavic Air 2. Was out 4800 feet and went onto low Voltage RTH. I stopped it out in Sport mode thinking I could RTH faster. At 4200 feet was at 16% Battery. Apparently went into phase 2 and all it wanted to do was land. I had to keep the stick up to go home. A lot of up and down. Good thing I had been 300 foot high. Made it home 50 foot from home zero on Battery. Shut off on landing. Does anyone know how to shut off this phase 2 at 16% so you can fly home in this case. If I had let it land it would be on posted Property.

The POI is better than ActiveTrack circle, for sure. I do think the Helix is a pretty cool shot though.

I don't think you can shut it off. That's just something you have to manage, flying further away first and then as the battery is used up, bring it back closer. You might also consider shuttng off your video and your obstacle avoidance in that situation to get a little more out of the battery for flying. If you're at 4800 feet when low battery kicks in, I think you've overflown the drone's safety system.

Thank you Dan, I appreciate that. Weather and my schedule have kept me from flying lately, but I did get the MA2 out this afternoon to shoot a few shots of a frozen fountain. It gives you a sense of how cold it got here in Texas, a bubbling fountain froze - we've had above freezing temps here for two days now, and it's still frozen. Which is a big reason why I haven't been out lately LOL.

Nice video. When you had it in Trace and you walked towards it, it did work, but if you turned from straight on it would go around and come out behind you. This is a short coming if you want to have your front in the camera while talking and walking other than a straight line. Hopefully DJI can correct this with an update.

It's definitely limited. I think they've got a ways to go to get these features doing everything you want. Realistically though, if that's a big part of what you want to do with the drone, the Skydio II is probably a better drone for what you want to accomplish.

When i press active track is not working, what is the setting do i need to make this work for active or pos or spotlight? Also how did you get your voice recording while flying the drone, are you using gopro with microphone?

Hi James - there are a few ways to do it. As you can see in this video, I'm recording the entire flight as a screen capture of the DJI app (on my phone). The screen recording app will record sound coming in to your phone's mic while recording the screen - so it records you talking since the phone is right by your face. You can also run a microphone in to your phone and record the sound that way. I think in this case, I had a handheld recorder in my pocket where my mic was plugged into. I recorded the app on screen and the audio on the pocket recorder, then lined them up in my video editing program and picked the sounds I thought was best. The biggest challenge is synchronizing recordings taht were shot at the same time. Easiest way is to record sound on all recording devices, then sync sounds in your video editor during post processing. Your drone won't record sounds, but your screen will record the beeps when you start and stop recording - that tells you where to drop in your drone video clips. The app I used to record the screen on my phone was DU Recorder (for android)

Are you selecting yourself? You might take it out into an open field in bright sunlight, and see if it will allow you to select yourself in the easiest situation possible. Once you establish it's working properly, you can try to select yourself in more complicated situations to find out how far you can go before the drone won't pick you up.
