Have to hand it to you. Had mine out for two flights in the back yard and ran into just about every possible obstacle there is. I guess there is an advantage to getting above the tree line! After that test run, I sure as heck won't be trying it indoors for a while. As soon as all the parks re-open, I need to get to some wide open spaces. All that said, great video and a nice introduction.

Thought I'd pass this on. I learned a lesson on what happens if the "critical battery" alarm goes off. I was landing my drone and had hovered near a large tree, but not where my home point was. The critical battery went off, as the drone knows how much battery it needs to return. As I was landing, it shot straight up 150 feet, which was the altitude setting to return home. Then it hovered over to the home point location and descended. It did exactly what it was set to do. Next time I had my game face on and consciously was aware of it. It did happened again, but I knew about, expected it, and immediately cancelled the return home to override the landing to another spot. Great video.....Happy droning.

Me too... Over water on the first flight???? My first drone was a cheaper one from China (not that DJI isn't from China) and the thing got away from me almost immediately. The Mavic Mini looks much more reliable, but I'd be afraid to fly it where I couldn't retrieve it if I didn't know what I was doing.

Welcome to the DJI community!! A little tip for new drone operating... Watch as many videos that you can, not just about the Mini but all DJI drones. I've been flying for going on 2 yrs now, started with a spark and now have the Mavic Air. Good luck learning and exploring!! Not bad for first flight. You can set your sticks and gimbal to be a little bit smoother. All things you will learn as you go.

Flew mine today for the first time in windy conditions. My Mini did well. I was very cautious as a first time drone flyer. I'm hooked now. I plan on enjoying this for a year or so and pass it along to my 6 year old so she can enjoy it too. Of course I will upgrade when I do :)

FYI... The 400 ft limit is typically AGL (above ground level), but you are permitted to fly even higher if there are tall structures like the cranes close by. If you are within 400 feet of a tall structure you can go 400 feet additionally higher than the structure. For example, if those cranes are 350 ft tall, and you are within a 400 ft proximity, your ceiling level can be as high as 750 ft AGL.

Justin, the extra batteries are about $45.00 each on the DJI website, which you would be right at $90.00 for both. And the fly more combo is the way to go as you get the charger along with the extra batteries. Have fun as the mavic mini is a great drone !!

I just got mine and love it. Lost my Spark the other day I know where it landed, just can't see where it is!. While changing the props I was distracted and didn't properly lock in the battery. REMEMBER TO LISTEN FOR THAT SNAP WHEN INSERTING BATTERY. The Mavic Mini is great but I miss my Spark.

It didnt auto land because it didnt sense a safe landing spot. I find it much easier to land it yourself by catching it or holding down the thumbstick.

I think the Mavic Mini or Mini 2 is perfect for recreation or first timer. You do not need an IPhone to use it. I used it with an LG V40 and it worked great.

The fly more combo is £460 here in the UK. That's a lot of money for something that can just go missing! I have a £200 yuneec breeze at the moment and get nervous flying that. I do want the mavic mini though. I know that the nerves will stop me from being too adventurous 😁🤜🤛

The up and down adjustment of the camera looks pretty thrifty. I'm wondering what technique you're using? When I do mine, I touch the screen, get a 'bump' feedback, then raise or lower my finger on the screen to adjust the camera up and down, but it is slower than what yours looks like.

The mavic mini's batteries are $45 on the DJI website. Great drone one of my favorites and I have several including the mp2 pro and find myself flying my mavic mini more . Don't get me wrong if I need better range and more resolution I'm going to my M2P.

Very nice son, but battery life seems a bit short. Hopefully I'm wrong. How long does it stay in the air just a few off the ground ? I need a shroud to block glare. I have a Fat Shark camera for flying my RC planes, I doubt it will transmit any signal that is half the ability you have, but they are great about zero glare.

I didnt mention it but it was hovering for a few minutes before I had all the settings correct. Had it been fully charged I would have gotten another couple minutes of flying time. Compared to most other drones the flight time on this one is really good.

Hello, I calibrated the IMU and COMPASS on my DJI Mavic Mini. Now, It has weak connection signal. Also, It’s not stable anymore, and is moving all over the place. Is it because I calibrated it inside my house, do I have to go outside and calibrate or is this a issue?

I held the joystick down until it lands. I tried the Auto land feature but it wouldn't work on the cement.

My first drone was a 30$ WL Toys, that thing did not have anything, no auto stabilization, no GPS, no Return to home, no sensors to help you fly, thats when I learned how to fly drones for real! of course that shit lost signal at some point and flew away, probably to the south with ducks, after that i had like 4 more cheap drones, before moving to some serious stuff, so i had to decide between Mavic Mini and Parrot Anafi, everyone on KZbin (even DJI owners) told me to go with Anafi, because of its price and features for photography, 4k, zoom, flight plan, follow me mode, etc. so i got it and love it! Mavic Mini is very loud, Anafi is much more quiet...

I truly believe that would depend on the amount you plan on using it for, what you use it for, and if you are able to get registered for your drone pilots license. I think the Mini or Mini 2 (even better) is fine for beginners and many shooting activities. I would opt for the Mini 2 given the upgraded features if you go the Mini route.

Justin, you did a great job with this video. You will find a great improvement in your video quality as you adjust the various sensitivity settings that prevent jerky moves by the drone and camera. You need to slow the responsiveness down just a bit to provide smoother starts and stops, turn and tilts. The Cinema setting does some of that for you, but I use the adjusted settings as my standard on my Mavic 2 Pro and on the Mini. My first videos and flights were nowhere as good as yours so you should be a very pleased young man. NICE JOB JUSTIN!

It is very interesting that for your first flight you pick the trickiest flight path. Over the river, with a lot of cranes and on strong winds day. You ain't going to fly that thang for a long time, that's for sure....

What phone are you using? Just got my Mavic Mini and all I have been able to see is... "RC not connected to mobile device". All day long trying to get it to connect... most used remedy online - "try another phone" I purposely got the LG G6 because it is on DJI's List. The phone thing seems to be very iffy. Hello Daniel from Western Canada! 😎 I am getting ready to make my first drone purchase, and have decided to go with the Mavic Mini. I had the same question that you are asking. What I did was to go to the Google Play Store and down load the Fly App into my smartphone. Once you have the App, you can navigate its features without having the drone. All you have to do is turn on your GPS in your phone then go to the map icon in the Fly App, and it will show you all of the no fly zones in your area. Hope that helps!
