For me the perfect case would have the small form factor, the outer case construction of the larger case, with more thought of the inner packaging so that I could get more items packed - like filters, the cigarette charger and memory cards. Thanks Bill

I got so tired of waiting for the Mavic I bought a phantom 4 pro. Love it. I got a beautiful case with it from aces . I'm looking to buy a Mavic now and I sure could use that case. Me and my son are studying for our 107 b. Hoping to start up a business with him. He has the phantom 3 pro. Enjoy your video's, you are so knowledgeable about drones and photography. Had a hard time deciding between the Mavic and Karma as my first drone. I like the features of the Mavic, but I already use a GoPro Hero 5, so it would have been nice to have all of my video in one place. The range on the Mavic and the hope that they will bring the goggles out soon swayed me to DJI. Not disappointed so far.

Also the skb case seems deep. Wondering if it could be adapted to work with the landing gear on it. It doesn't fit in the flymore case with that on.

I really like both cases... flymore case is not big enough... I have 4 batteries and all my stuff so I've been using and old dslr back back. Hard case will be next. Especially for travel. I hope to take it if I head out to Ohio this spring. And will have it with my luggage in the car.

Both cases look nice and well built. I do tend to prefer the casepro products and SKB cases but I would never turn down a free case no matter what the brand. Also I really like the casepro battery carrier. As usual Bill, very concise review, well done.

Great review,. Bill I think the Casepro it the better case and feel based on what I have seen here.... the Freewell is nice for portability due to the compact size. . I also feel the bit of give is a plus for serious drops... good job always enjoy the work videos..

The bit of flexibility in the SKB cases is what makes them much better than pelican cases. I had a Pelican case drop and crack long ago (they took care of it) but I have had serious mishandling of my SKB case and never suffered a case failure.

Great review Bill. I just came across your review and subscribed after watching a few more of your vids. The Freewell case looks great to try to keep the "portability" factor of the Mavic while offering protection. I noticed it looked like there was a small round protrusion under the carry handle. Is that a pressure relief valve for shipping on a plane? And could you fit an iPad or another accessory such as a filter set or sun shade? Lost my job but I just ordered Mavic flymore pkg. It's my first drone! lol I probably should be saving money but I had to have it. I'd sure love that case for my upcoming trip to Texas!

It is a pressure relief - the case has a gasket so maybe it could build up pressure. no room inside for a table or shade

Nice cases. Both look like they could keep the equipment safe. I have a question about the Case Pro. It seems much deeper than the other case, what is under the equipment cutouts? It seems like a waste of space that perhaps could be used for a second layer of protection for more equipment.

There is a battery bank adapter / additional props slot below the mavic. Other than the other cutout are deep for vertical batteries. Then there is a good layer between the hard case and what is stored.

Are there any issues with putting the batteries in the hard case for transportation on commercial flights? Is that the idea behind the battery holder, or is that just for transporting lots of extra batteries?

Hey Nick - Not if you carry on, if you check then yes, you can't check the batteries. The idea behind the battery holder (from when I talked to CasePro after they sent it is for either carrying extra batteries, or when you travel and you check your drone, you then have a consolidated place to store them in your carry on luggage without them banging around. Thanks Mike - Video is still right though, tape was the medium , video is the result ;) - Keeping it very portable I know DJI has a sleeve, but for great protection I think the Canon 70-200MM lens pouch could work really well.
