It doesn't have precision landing like the more expensive models. Really , this isn't even a big deal. It's superb in opinion. The fact it comes back to the same vicinity where you took off is awesome.
@sptrader63163 жыл бұрын
The Mini2 doesn't have precision landing sensors, so the accuracy is limited to GPS accuracy. It gets close enough that you get it back and that's really all that matters. Mine is usually 2-3 feet from take-off spot. (with 20 gps satellites).

The dji fly app shows where it is on a map? And what orientation it is at? Are you flying a dji drone?
@PhilAndersonOutside3 жыл бұрын
@@creedyfbaby He didn't respond (yet), but one time I flew my drone in a slew of circles practicing flying. Looking at the map showed a bunch of squiggly lines. I probably could have figured it out, but just hitting RTH sure makes things easy in such situations.
@ToddAutry2 жыл бұрын
@@PhilAndersonOutside this ^^^. Using RTH is great for when you have an intermittent signal loss or when you need it to come in quickly. Sure you can use the map but RTH to me is so easy. Like Dylan says in his video, it’s a great tool to use just for filming.
@mdees882 жыл бұрын
@@ToddAutry RTH is so easy it becomes a crutch for a lot of people. It's an awesome safety feature but it should only be used as such in my opinion. If you want to fly a drone I think it's best to get a little better at flying instead of relying on safety measures. I think anyone who owns this drone should practice returning home by flying the drone manually all the way to the home point. If they are are disoriented they should learn to look at the map to properly align the drone to the home point. They should also learn how to fly just looking at the the map when it is pulled up full screen. Knowing how to disable RTH is also VERY important. I was flying in the woods under a dense tree canopy and my drone went into RTH due to low battery. I quickly hit the pause button which disabled it after the drone had already climbed a few feet. Had I left it in RTH it would have hit tree canopy and crashed.
@mdees882 жыл бұрын
@@PhilAndersonOutside RTH is an awesome feature but try not to let it become a crutch. Next time don't look at the squiggly tracks on the map. Just look at the direction the drone is facing and where the blue dot (the controller) is. Use the left stick to spin the drone until it is facing the blue dot, then fly forward, it's that simple.

I'm a fairly new Mini 2 owner, and use this RTH feature almost every flight. This is farther away than I've ever had it land on autopilot. It's usually within about a foot. A few times it's landed within inches. Curious others experiences. Huge thanks for the video. I had never thought about using RTH as a filming tool, because you're right, it does give very precise, smooth footage. Great idea.
@thomasgibbs5865 Жыл бұрын
I'm also very new. But learning quick. I love the RTH function. However there is a downside. It has to climb to the RTH altitude you set. That eats up battery power to climb when it may not be needed. What I have learned is, use the map and turn the drone back towards you and view the trip and you can keep it as high as you need without climbing unnecessarily. I actually do like RTH for camera purposes. You can yaw and zoom while the RTH is getting it back to you.

I wanted to build a little platform on my back 40 to land mine with RTH. But the initial tests I ran (3 in about 20 min on the same day under the same bright, clear conditions with no wind) indicated that I was averaging about 4' (1.2m) to the west off my mark. I'll run more in-depth tests later, but testing RTH definitely convinced me that I don't wanna build a pad that big. It's still really (really really) good for getting it close enough to land the drone manually but I wouldn't wanna RTH and forget it.

I did a couple of RTH tests and the drone always landed where I was actually standing when I set the home point. So I did some home point setting when holding the controller over the actual landing pad where the drone was sitting. Bingo! Each time the drone landed within a couple of inches of where it took off from. So is the home point registering in the aircraft or the controller? It appears to be in the controller, because every test I have done results in the aircraft RTH at the spot where the controller is when the home point is set.
@mdees882 жыл бұрын
Return to home always stores the aircrafts location, not the controller when the aircraft takes off. Now if you pull up the return to home settings in the menu you can choose between the controller, where the drone is, or you can manually choose where to land on the map. Since you said "When I set the home point" I assume you are setting it where the controller is.

I have 2 questions. 1. Does the Home get set when you turn the drone on? If not when and where does it get set. 2. How do you reset the home location to be a new place? For instance, if I turn the Mini2 on inside my house, and then go outside to fly. I don't want the drone to try and land on top of my house thinking home is where I turned it on. Likewise, I like to make sure everything is working while I'm inside and warm. I live in a winter climate and like to fly from the comfort of my home or car.

I'm confused. Do you have to set the "home point" before you fly it? Or does the drone automatically know where home is? This video starts by stating that there is an "H" on the screen for Home point, but when I turn on my DJI app and my drone, I don't see any "H" appear on the screen. Which makes me wonder if you have to set it.
