Zach's never flown a drone, so obviously he's the perfect guy to review the DJI Mini 2. How beginner friendly is it? Where can he fly it in Singapore? What are his hopes, dreams...fears? All this, and more...

As a Mini 2 user for many moons, the combo is definitely more worth it. Batteries life will deplete very fast. Each battery can last max 30 mins. If you are flying abroad, you need to hand carry this batteries and you will need a special Lipo Case as Lithium Polymer may catch fire during transport. This is something Zachery did not mentioned as it’s safety fire hazard. Another thing is you are suppose to start the controller with phone attached before starting the drone. 2 reasons - the battery starts to deplete the minute you turn on. Second reason is you are wasting the drone battery while trying to setup and attached the mobile phone. Every minute counts. My own personal recommendation - go for Drone basic course. There are a few schools who conduct courses and it’s not expensive. For those who think they know, actually you don’t really know as there are plenty of things to learn and remember. Singapore may not be an ideal place to play and fly drones due to tonnes of NFZ restrictions but it’s still a good place to practise your drone skills before you go for your next holiday. Please remember to check drone rules and regulations before taking off in ANY country. For Singapore it’s simple. Check the drone map before flying and cannot fly above 60m unless you apply for temporary permit. You will need to download an elevation map too. Not every part of Singapore is 0m above sea level. If you are standing at Toa Payoh Dragon Playground, you need to minus 10m of from your drone. Means your max height is 50m only. Not 60m. All the above does not require you to register your Mini 2. If you add accessories on your drone, it will be go beyond 250gm and you will need to register your drone which is pretty easy. Permits and license are 2 different things. Permits are temporary which you need to apply. License are for advance and commercial users who usually use drones to make money.

@@xxDxxism Please do not assume it's easy to fly a drone without SAFETY in mind comes first. Most new drone operators think they know but in actual fact, they don't really know. Still it's up to you if you do not wish to learn from the courses but don't complain later when you lose your drone or get fined heavily by the authorities or injured someone while flying your drone. Drones ain't cheap nowadays. I am sharing from experience I have encountered and learn the right way. There are no shortcuts. KZbin content creators are experience drone users and their main aim is to market the product and earn $$$$$. You can find some tutorials on YT but most I have seen are from different countries. Singapore is a WiFi congested nation which drones are most afraid of.

Hi Zachary, another very informative review. Great job! I was contemplating getting a drone, but, like you mentioned, was worried about how I would probably crash and burn a new one in seconds. After watching your review, I feel more encouraged to get one (I need to get past one more obstacle, the wife). It seems quite newbie-friendly and easy to control. You mentioned an absence of collision sensors which may be worrying. I guess that is what the Fly More Combo is for, to patch the drone up from newbie mistakes. Let’s see if 11.11 makes it very attractive to get one! Thanks again for a great review as always!

This was a very informative and well made video. Thank you! But I'm wondering about several things. Firstly, the controller looks twice as big and heavy as the actual drone which seems to be billed as very light weight and portable. How heavy is the controller? I assume it also has batteries and has to be recharged? (I'm thinking here of portability on a bicycle trip, for example). How long to recharge the controller batteries? Secondly, you mention built-in programmes like "Boomerang" and the Go Home button, but could one use it to "paint" (not sure what it would be called in the drone world) a target and have the drone follow the target (again, like a person on a bicycle?) I assume that might be too sophisticated for it, or is it? I'm looking to buy my first drone and am a total beginner. Again, super video. I learned a lot. :)

The Mini 2 controller has a 5,200mAh battery. Takes about 3+ hours to fully charge according to DJI. It’s much larger than the original Mavic Mini, actually about the same size and design as the Mavic Air 2. The increase size is possibly due to the larger battery and transmission tech used. The Mini 2 does not have full Active Tracking, but it can track a stationary target while using the QuickShot modes. Good for b-roll flybys, but not if you’re thinking of having the Mini 2 follow you while you’re biking or running. It doesn’t do that.

A lot of users found the new controller much better than the old one. You have better grip and it’s not very heavy. Usually 1 drone battery will last you around 30-35 mins. So, you arms and hands won’t get tired easily. Plus you can get a neck strap to hold your controller for further stability if you wish.

Bro that place quite familiar... for what i see it should be around East Coast Park beach area, wondering r we able to fly there? i was given warning by Park ranger when I flew there (1st time) some time ago. Think because many low fly aircraft flying there towards Changi airport, so kind of dangerous & better dun take the risk....

You will have to follow your country's laws. Hardwarezone is based in Singapore, and we are only required to register a drone if the total weight is above 250g.

Most countries around the world usually will follow the drone regulations. Anything below 250gm, you don’t need a license or permit to fly. That said, Singapore as much lower height limit at only 60m. Most countries are 120m. I know in Sweden, you will need to apply for license to fly any drones, doesn’t matter if it’s 250gm or less.

I will suggest to register your drone (even weight is less than 250) if u r flying in SG, just to be safe, peace of mind to avoid any unnecessary trouble later.

Bro never even think of it flying in "NO FLY ZONE", heard the fine can be tedious like $10 - 20K fine, or even free jail stay. No jokes seriously.......

from my experience unless you are not in that red zone beside the airport the drone will still be able to take off but it would give you a warning beforehand. doesnt mean you should fly it though, your gonna run into some trouble. sadly most of singapore is a no fly zone but you can pick up something nimble like a dji avata and fly it around your house
