I really really appreciate this video, especially demonstrating the "failure" RTH modes. I just got my Mini 3 Pro, my very first drone, and the idea of losing it absolutely terrifies me. This put me at ease quite a bit. Thank you!

Thank you so much! Today was the first day my drone performed a automatic Return To Home..... and it went straight up into the air! Uggghhh. From you I found out I had set the RTH altitude to about 200 feet (60 meters). I was just terrorized by this and then it did exactly what it should do and landed right where it should. Thank you so much for explaining this so well!

Nice Shawn. These kinds of tutorials are important. I think DJI is a little too aggressive on their auto landing at 10% battery remaining. You have to actively push the left stick up at anything under 10%.

Great video! Please also demonstrate obstacle avoidance during RTH....the things you showed are similar to the mini 2. But obstacle avoidance is Mini 3 so RTH testing would be great to see.....
@JoshConnectMedia2 жыл бұрын
My understanding is that, for OBS A - obstacle avoidance, the initial RTH height should be set above any higher building around ... so basically the aircraft will pick up height to reach that and then cruise back "home". Unless OBS A is set low .. then in that case, the aircraft will decide according to your settings on the obstacle avoidance. Anyway, forget about all these theories, I am also a new pilot with the Mini 3 pro.

Great video. Especially the last point that we can update the home point to the location of drone or controller. Once I had updated the homepoint while flying. When the battery was low I pressed RTH and drone started landing at some other place. But I manged to land in a plane area. Then I traced it by noting the last location using the map. Now I can relate your last point with this situation. I had updated homepoint to the drone location.🤓

Nice video…found it really educative as I just had a goof up if losing control of my aircraft yesterday. I am curious to understand what if the RTH point is changing. For example, if we are traveling in a boat and drone is in air, does the drone consider RTH as that original point where it has taken off or dynamically adjusted w.r.t. our movement in a boat!…please advise…thanks

After pressing the RTH button (shown at 3:18) the yaw is not usable on my Mini 3, it faces forward and only the altitude is controllable by the left stick. Is yaw working on yours? On my older Mini 2 (I think after a firmware update) the yaw was usable while the drone was returning to home, I could look in any direction.

Seems strange that the home point is not automatically set to be the take off place. So do you have to adjust the home point every time. Remember to do it?
@AirPhotography Жыл бұрын
Yes, it should be set at your takeoff point every time. Unless you don’t have a satellite lock when you takeoff it won’t set the home point until it has enough satellites.
@jamesbarratt593 Жыл бұрын
Now I have been using the drone a week and flown it miles away and feel at one with it. Yep I know about it. Even a few satellites and the home point appears. Today I took off and saw no home point so landed instead of flying off. As I did the home point was there. Learnt Is there a setting which does not allow it take off until home point is set?
@jamesbarratt593 Жыл бұрын
I also dont know why when set to mov and cine then downloaded to dji app then air dropped to imac and then edited in iMovie and finally uploaded to youtube, my 4k video played on youtube with max quality setting so low not worth looking at. Admit way too many operations that im sure picture quality would have to suffer. Drone sd card to youtube should be enough
@terribletcm10 ай бұрын
It looks like on a controller disconnect it doesn't return along the same path home, it executes the Return To Home function which rises and then makes a straight shot to the Home set by the user. I believe the more expensive drones (Air 2S for sure) will turn 180 degrees and then follow the exact same path it had flown for the last 50 meters while trying to reconnect.
