DJI Mini 4 Pro & DJI Mini 3 Pro WHY DID DJI DELETE THIS FEATURE ON RTH?

DJI Mini 4 Pro RTH (Return to Home) Strong wind warning - no control of drone unless going into manual control.

I think Mini 2 was the only DJI drone to give you full control while in RTH Mode. Which came to the Mini 2 as firmware update. Great testing, and thanks for sharing Shaun

Shaun you go back years with the Drones same as me , been subbed since you started , anyways you will remember the old Phantoms could do the same move them around as you wanted on rth until DJI started adding forward facing sensors you could no longer have free rotation ,heck I could even free rotate my old Inspire 1 lol , so nothing new here with the way the newer drones do an RTH

Hi Shaun just got my mini 4k and yes it does still have this feature I did a rth and could yaw the drone left and right and alter the gimbal all whilst in return to home, great video mate 👌

Interesting. When I flew my Mini 4 Pro up to a mountaintop, about a mile away, I had to raise it to over 600 feet above the home point to clear the mountain. But when I hit RTH, I couldn't lower it to below 400 feet to be legal as it left the mountain. I pulled the left stick back, but it maintained the 600+ ft height. I had to turn off RTH before I could lower it. I'll have to try it again, but we certainly should be able to lower the drone while in RTH to stay legal. Yes, gotta love my Mini 2 for that reason, and to be able to look around while in RTH. Good test, Shaun, thank you!

Why hit the RTH at all? Use the radar map, turn around and fly the drone back? Several automatic drone functions have bugs, malfunctioning, surprising actions.... At the maximum, press RTH to direct the drone to home and then take over and fly manually.

@@Stefan_Boerjesson Because it's cool seeing that green path that it's following. That's the main reason I hit RTH, unless I'm disoriented, which happens a lot too. I keep forgetting about the radar map to see where the home point is, but the H on the screen really helps too.

I think I've seen the same on the Mini 3 pro, and/or the Mavic 3 pro. It/they don't descend to RTH altitude, onle ascend to it when flying lower. DJI lacks the basic stragegies but are good at programming the veird ideas.

I would’ve lost my mini 2 on one flight due to A low battery if I was not able to change the direction as it was descending on its own. I had to aim it in another location so I could recover it off the side of A road way. I think that could be another good test for someone to see if you still have some control if battery goes low.

just wanted to let you know, 99pct sure your not hitting the landing pad is because your not allowing the drone to do a precise takeoff. You need to takeoff and hover above the spot about 15 ft up for a few seconds before you fly. Thats how the ol mavic pro goes at least

👍👍 Shaun! Regarding the Mini 2 I'm confused. I thought the originally Mini 2 had a 4K camera and the Mini 2 SE (that replaced it) had the Mavic Mini's 2.7K camera. If so, I'm confused why DJI recently released another new Mini 2 4K? Yep, I R confused! I actually tried to find a new original 4K Mini 2 late last year. No joy so I bit the bullet and bought the CE version M4P and am very satisfied with it. It has outstanding range even here in _CE Drone Hell Thailand_ even though O4 doesn't seem to have 5.2Ghz band available here.

Thank you Jim and yes both the Mini 2 & SE have 4K camera's but DJI being DJI stopped making the Mini 2 last year and the Mini 4K is really the Mini 2, good sales!!!! Even I was confused when the 4K came out. Glad you're enjoying the Mini 4 Pro, great drone, does it all. Many thanks for watching.

@Jimbo-in-Thailand Hi Jimbo, I had the first Mavic Mini, which had the 2.7K camera. Then I traded up for the Mini 2, which had 4K. Then a firmware update gave us the ability to yaw on RTH. The Mini 2 was so popular, I believe DJI brought it back as the Mini 2 4K, since they discontinued the original Mini 2. I hope that clears up your confusion. Still keeping my Mini 2, which is a great little drone.

@@gama45 Hi Gary! Yeah, I've still got my old bulletproof (except for range) Mavic Mini. Last year, or two, DJI stopped selling the original Mini 2 4K here and instead offered the cheaper Mini 2 SE with the 2.7k camera. In fact, they're still available here from DJI. And lately a 'new' Mini 2 4K el cheapo has been released by DJI. Yep, I'm a bit confused at DJI's marketing. Cheers buddy!

Maybe it doesn't allow deviation from the flight path for battery reasons. Just a guess.

the thing is it doesnt deviate it only rotates on its axis its still returning to home!
