DJI Osmo Action 1-Year-after Review

I bought a Osmo Action this week. I've been impressed.

I had a Gopro Hero 7 before, it hangs and freeze all the time. I wish they had warned people not to buy that crap.

@@cyber1991 I also have the Hero 7 Black, I went and bought a DJI Action and will probably sell the GoPro. For the price I paid for the GoPro, it's trash. The DJI is far superior in a lot of ways, reliability is the best though.

@@kylequinn1963 I waited for DJI Action 2 but it's expensive and also not as good as DJI Action 1 so I will buy Action 1 instead after all the waiting. Gopro is all about marketing propaganda, it's quality and customer service suck.

Most important is the standard 3.5 mm audio input jack, if Dji put this in.. then it will be a killer. Dump the idea of making pennies from the audio interface, have that jack and it will be a killer.

Needs horizon lock. It's so hard to keep the horizon level on such a small camera with its little screen.

Great review, I agree, the audio sucks! It got better with the adapter and an external mic but it's not something we always carry around..

I'd like your opinion. My needs will be simple and don't need the best of the best. For my Vespa I want to film and record my voice, and hiking. The DJI Osmo Action js available for $310.🇨🇦 (About $245 🇺🇲) Or GoPro 9 BUNDLE for $430 🇨🇦 (about $340 🇺🇲). $120 cheaper so I'm thinking of the Osmo? Whatya think?

some people reported the little default they had, such as overheating etc, but i saw none of them so far, so I will always recommend the DJI Osmo action.

I own a GoPro Hero 7 Black which I like, and I hope the latest firmware update eliminates some of its bugginess. My Osmo Action just arrived today and I look forward to having the front screen and no firmware glitches for which the GoPros are notorious - somebody in their QA and/or R&D Dept. should be fired and replaced. I will never buy another GoPro until the company begins to respect their customers by fixing glitches in their cameras' operation, e.g., firmware updates/fixes, glitchy touchscreen, etc. For now, DJI now has my business henceforth.

I had a GoPro Hero 7 black who gave me problems on day 1. It freezes and hangs very often, slow screen response time, battery can't be pulled out. I am looking into buying Osmo Action 2.

I originally ordered GoPro Hero 9. The touch screen is crap. I can’t believe they released the camera with that touch screen. The DJI Osmo Action is so much better and more intuitive. One thing it needs is the horizon level. When filming with a selfie stick and doing underwater from a boat, everything is upside down.

When it works... it’s a gem. It has more issues than TIME magazine though. It will overheat fast. Also will switch from video to photo mode on its own. I could go on and on. That being said, it’s useful for creative angles and I have made full KZbin videos with it.

Hi, i really can't say about the battery life, never used it to shoot too long. Id say you will have 1 hour for 4k 60p and 2 hours for 1080.

Hi, you can buy a cage with cold shoe mount on it , then put on a mini led light, that will work.

Mine SUCKS . .it wouldnt connect to the phone that was ready to link up??? Now its locked on screen with the stupid barcode telling me to "activate it" . . But not letting me and DJI- Themselves DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ??????? When that happens. . .like every one of them linked up problem free- I'll never by anything of theirs ever again. 2nd hand Gopro would be better

What I don't understand about osmo is why you need a smartphone to activate it. It's a camera. Needs to just work out of the box as a standalone device. The "activation" is just bullshit.

When a piece of cold glass got into a hot moist environment, it will have fog on it. the camera will be only warm after long time shooting, but it's enough to prevent fog. I never see fog on the screen by my experience.

OMG please don't buy this camera... I scratched my lens cover and It's so hard to find a replacement. With GoPro you can find replacement easily and affordably. So I will never purchase another Osmo Action camera again. Even the their website doesn't sell replacement parts. Sucks! If anybody knows where I can get a replacement lens cover... pls reply

Hi, if you have enough money, go buy the GoPro hero 9, it has new features. Dji action is a little bit outdated. I don't know too much about the Insta. But all of them can provide great 4k video.

I had Gopro Hero 7 before. It hangs and freezes a lot. The battery life is very poor and difficult to pull out. I heard it is same freezing problems for Gopro Hero 9 in other videos. Go for Osmo Action 2 if you can wait.

Is there any way to avoid the long face problem with doing vlogging?? It makes me look like my head is twice as long as wide.... Also my eyes seem to be smaller and it creates eye bags where there aren't any. Don't you guys have these problems with your DJI Osmo Action??

Maybe you are using the 4:3 Aspect ratio? try to change the setting to 16:9.
