I also bought a set. Camera and the microphones. The microphones pair just fine with the camera. Both and also the transmitter can be paired. So no separate mic is needed as you tell.

I've been playing with my DJI Mic 2 on my Samsung S23U and Insta360 X3 even before the firmware update for the Mic 2 Tx. The Mic 2 can also be updated via phone as I've updated using my S23U....just downloaded the bin file, powered up the Mic 2, plugged it into my phone via usb-c to usb-c cable with the S23U, and transferred the bin file to the root directory of the Mic 2. Once i unmounted the Mic 2 from my S23U and unplugged it, the lights started flashing indicating it was updating. Paired it back to my Pocket 3 to verify that the firmware was indeed updated

Great video and great news. You just saved me from buying DJI mic (v1). I would regret the purchase because it is much better to wait for mic 2 and use it without attached receiver. Especially for me when I was planning to use it while snowboarding and this usb-c connection seems to be more fragile. Thank you 😊

Indeed, and I don’t think we’re gonna have to wait too much longer for mic 2 to be released. They are obviously ready if they’re shipping them with the pocket three. I think myself will see them sometime shortly in the new year. Or I hope anyways.

After everything is configured, when the camera is turned off, if I activate recording with the Quickstart button, will the Osmo Action 4 automatically recognize the microphone? Another question, with this mic, is there still a problem with the delay in recognizing the mic (from 5 to 14 seconds)?

Thanks for making this. You should also know that the firmware updates from PC to tx or rx devices will only work (or did for me) when you use the USB/USB C cable that comes with it. Other USB C cables do not allow the Mic 2 devices to be seen/opened on a PC for the file xfer. This drove me nuts for a few mins until I worked it out. HTH Paul.

Am i right in saying that this update eliminates the need for a transmitter being attached to the camera, with the audio from the mic 2 is inbedded in the video file so its less work in editing? Ie audio file and video file is not seperate? As you didnt have to have a transmitter plugged in in the first place, it just meant you had to tie up the audio with the video which meant a bit more work.

@@AirPhotography hello, just to let you know, I was using DJI GPS remote controller and wireless Mic 2 simultaneously connected to my Osmo action 4, successfully. In the camera settings you can find separate options for wireless Mic connection and wireless connection for other devices. Works nicely! Have a good day!

in the camera directly, swipe down from top to bottom, go to settings , and then you see the mic 2 settings , adjust the sound gain, -3/-4 is for me the sweetspot for motorbike vlogging or vlogging when your walking when the mic is 5-20cm in front of your mouth

DJI mic 2 sells for $99 solo without transmitter Wish Nikon and Sony would follow suit. Definitely would use my solo mic via Bluetooth. I just hit the record button on my solo mic while recording video threw my camera then sink up the audio later in post

You will have to unpair from one before pairing to another. Some bluetooth devices can store two pairing requests. I have bluetooth headphones that do that.

I’m assuming it’ll just stay connected to whatever device it was last paired to. as that transmitter isn’t specific to the pocket three eventually will be part of the new DJI mic system when it gets released. So I don’t think it has any extra preference over the pocket three

Well, it is a game changer because this is the very first time you can connect a quality microphone directly to an action camera. This is not been done before other than this type of solid connection and quality. And for many people this is a huge step forward. Something we have wanted for a very long time. And you’re right, you can connect directly to the pocket 3 but there’s just a lot of things you can’t do with a pocket three that you can with an action camera.

But it works with the DJI MIC 2 since it came with the P3.. Well, I still think it is only a half change, because, why the heck we get only the option to connect 1 mic and not 2? The P3 does it! So I guess it is only a software issue, isn't it? Let us see, how customers friendly the manufacturer will be in this case.😇🍀

Hi. I have a problem with the Mic 2 paired with OA4. Whenever i use the snapshot button to start recording while the camera is off, the mic won't connect automatically. Indeed, the instructions seem a little bit off. All I did was press the linking button only and it paired with no issue. Give that a go see if that works for you. I’ve done it a few times now as I switch back-and-forth between the pocket three and the action for and it’s works every time that way for me

Having an issue with the mic auto-linking when I switch between the Action 4 and Pocket 3. Seems like the link is just from one mic to one device, not automatically to whichever camera device I’m using at the moment. I keep having to go back into the settings and re-pair the mic 2, each time I switch between the Action 4 and Pocket 3. What am I missing here? Is it possible to pair one mic 2, to both a Pocket 3 and Action 4? Or do I need to relink whenever I switch between cameras?

You can you just have to do it manually just press the record button on the side of the receiver and you’ll have a separate audio track as well. It’s a good practice anyways so you always have a back up case there’s any type of interference.

I want to do videos where I’m walking with the action 4, and someone else has the mic 2 clipped to them , so it’s one track for each of us

You can charge each individual component just by plugging it into the USB-C port that’s built into it you don’t need the case to charge it

It’s hard to say what they’ll do. If an update will come I’m assuming there’s some hardware limitations

Difficult to say. DJI updated the Action 2 more than year after its release to allow gyro data to be exported. So they do support their older products (unlike Sony). Problem for me is the new Insta360 action cam looks pretty good, so that might be my next AC.

I haven’t tried it, but theoretically, you can download the firmware to a phone or tablet. Plug in the mic and transfer over the file. The way it works is when you power the microphone on it’ll use the new firmware file that you transferred
