Nice video, Otto.. Let me ask... with insta360 flow, if you put the gimbal upside down, with phone in vertical position using ultra wide angle lens, is the video clean? Or the arm of the gimbal appear in the image?

What feature set are you loosing if you go for a third party app like filmic pro or the stock camera app. I use a Samsung S22 Ultra and I was really interested in one of these gimbals.

you don't get tracking, and other features that are inside the app like manual focus etc (unless filmic pro offers it)

Nice comparison! What would be the difference between using the Android app camera and the DJI/Insta360 app? As the camera functionality is limited on the gimbal's app, what would be the advantage of using it instead of Android camera app?

thanks! inside the app you will get other features such as tracking, motion lapses, dolly zoom, etc. Not sure if I mentioned those kind of things in this video but I have a review of just the insta360 Flow and there is a DJI OM6 video compared to the Smooth 5 where I mention all of that. Bottom line, your camera app will have some features like 60fps that you can't use with their app, but besides that and maybe a few other things, the app for the gimbals will give you other features that you don't get with your phone

@@OttoJulian_ Thank you for that additional insight. I have been using the Galaxy S23 Ultra for 5 months, and love it. Just got the Osmo Mobile 6 yesterday. Sure, there's a learning curve, but I'm picking it up quickly. Like a sport, it's a matter of reps. Let yourself make mistakes, and learn from them. Sit with it in your living room and practice/experiment. As for the in-phone app vs Mimo app- the Mimo app allows far more robust options. Don't use the Gimbal without it, I'd say.

I had the OM 6 but as a beginner couldn't figure-out how to manage the under-slung mode so sent it back -- later I learned I needed to go under-slung and then begin recording but by then I'd returned the gimbal. For my purposes it was a great device -- except as I described -- and for a more casual use it seems a good way to go. I'm once again considering a gimbal purchase but this time will look harder at Zhiyun offerings as they're a bit more professionally useful. Anyway, such are the vagaries of beginners. Regardless, well done, as always, Otto; thank you.

What I like of the insta360 gimbal is the possibility to use the native camera app with not much limitations. DJI on that is a little more limited.

Hi Dario! Thanks for watching today's video. The insta360 Flow is a gimbal that is gaining quite a bit of popularity. Small details that make a difference, and other details that are not so great but I am sure that they will improve them in their next Flow 2

@Otto Julian Insta360 seems like a company capable of great achievements. Their cameras are the proof of it. Their gimbal, even a little unripe is good and capable to be (probably) in the top 3 of the best consumer gimbals. DJI and HOHEM need to keep their heads up.

Thanks for the video Otto! I had high expectations for the Instaflow360. But I have two issues and just want to make sure I'm not missing something before I send it back. 1. I bought it to get nice pan videos across the cuckoo clocks I make and up and down. It doesn't react quickly enough. I'm assuming that's because they are made for out in the world action recording? 2. The limited setting (singular) for just white balance for Android simply won't cut it. So if I use my camera app, it's as if the gimbal isn't even there, right? Thanks for any help you can give me.

It's a shame that I didn't see your message before. It just popped on my "I haven't responded" list out of the blue. I get the feeling that I responded to you before but well, anyway: The reaction speed goes in hand with your movement. There is a setting that you can change so it follows faster or slower... Regarding your Android limitation, yeah, there are no manual controls, just white balance. If you use your native camera app, the gimbal will still work and will help in making your movements smooth. I usually do that, I use my camera app and I mostly use their app when I need to test features for reviews or when I need to use something that is only available inside their app, such as tracking

Why does no one mention the fact that the DJI OM3, 4, 5 and 6 all have a jitter and you can only use them with phones with really good electronic or optical video stabilization. This is not a stable phone gimbal and no one is saying anything. I just sold mine because my A52 has awesome video quality but no IS in 4k. KZbin reviewers just lost my trust.

We are using what we have. I would be more than glad to test gimbals with other phones if you send them to me, I don't see why me or other youtubers have to go and buy every single phone to test them out, doesn't make sense. But on the other side, I did make a video a long time ago talking about how the Samsung Galaxy that I had back then performed with stabilization OFF, and I have to say that there is a HUGE difference in using it handheld vs using it with a gimbal. Sure, a gimbal will not be perfect in any way and it will work better if the phone has some kind of stabilization, but using a phone with no stabilization handheld? I'd love to see what you can do, you will become legend! PS: I will do a similar test with stabilization off in the next weeks using my current Samsung

@@OttoJulian_ I would really appreciate it if anyone included in a review or video tests, of a DJI om 5 or 6, a section with a phone that has no video stabilization. I just felt so much frustration about the whole thing. It would be nice if my experience helped someone else not make the same mistake and save then the headache. Sorry if my words came out harsh.. Your reviews are really good. I just really got disoriented and paranoid for a while because of this whole thing. I have the Zhyun Smooth 4. It works really good with most phones. Thought DJI OM6, for $200, was going to be the same experience or even better. But sadly that was not the case.

@@shmuelmaloof4448 all good. I’m sorry too, I know that there is a lot that is not being said by me or other KZbinrs but in most cases it’s not intentional. If you have watched my videos you know that I will say whatever I find wrong with a product, like the Android limitations that most KZbinrs won’t even mention. I’m sorry that you had a bad experience with the DJI gimbal, I don’t think I will add a section on every review about it as some things do get cut off when I edit because of the length (people watch less when the video is too long) but I will try to incorporate or make a separate video about it

I'm pretty sure they want their gimbals to work with Android 100% but it's not their fault
