Thanks for a great review. One of the things that has bothered me with my Pocket 3 is that it is not a fixed-focus camera. While have a camera that has a variable focus has its advantages, as you note in your review, I have found it a nuisance when trying to shoot through a window as the camera tends to focus on the window, especially if it has some dirt on it, and not the subject that is beyond the window. I have not found a work-around for this. Have you?
@OttoJulian_
@OttoJulian_ 15 минут бұрын
@@allenmyers8568 indeed it’s an advantage and can also be a con. I find myself paying more attention to this as I know that some shots might do the focus hunt or not focus at all as you said. I haven’t tried to shoot through a window to be honest, have you tried using the subject tracking for that situation? It should focus directly on the face. I’ll try that tomorrow! Now I’m curious

@@OttoJulian_ I was shooting waves outside of a cruise ship window. I doubt focus tracking would work on them! When shooting the bow of the ship through a window, focus tracking should work. The problem is that the viewing screen is too small to tell what is in and what is out of focus. The only way to find out which is which is to play the video back. My next shots through a window will be on a moving train. I'm more inclined to use my Action 5 pro, with its fixed-focus lens, than the Pocket 3.

It really depends on the use... for a "casual traveller/tourist" aiming to record some videos for "personal use" without too much hassle, too much expense, too much weight and problems (the Pocket 3 is really quite fragile... I have read quite a bit of stories about it breaking while on a trip) the Ace Pro 2 could really be a nice option because it is less expensive, more compact and durable and the AI assistance makes up for the difference in sensor dimension quite a lot...

Good timing! I have the OP3 but was really thinking the Ace Pro 2 would be better. Seeing your clips side by side has convinced me that I should just learn to use the OP3 better as the image quality is so much better. I have several mirrorless cameras and lenses, even smaller ones, so I shall continue to use those. Thank you for your very succinct comparison. Helped me a lot.

I'm glad the video helped you make a decision! The Pocket 3 is a very good camera indeed. I think as consumers we always get the feel of “the grass is greener” on the other side when it comes to tech products. I’m guilty of it sometimes lol

@axios101

it depends.... P3 is also bulkier, more fragile, more expensive and in general a little bit more complex to operate... it depends on which your needs are... for a "normal" tourist (not an "influencer" or a vlogger), an Ace Pro 2 could be easier to manage and utilize during sightseeing and walks without compromising too much the results for "casual" videos of travels...
@OttoJulian_
@OttoJulian_ 21 минут бұрын
@@axios101I agree with you that the Pocket 3 takes some extra time to learn to operate because casual users are not used to the movements of a gimbal, making action cameras easier to literally just point and shoot, but the Pocket 3 will win in most areas. I don’t consider myself a vlogger and I record with it very often for personal videos (when I don’t want to carry my bigger camera around)

Is M7 also got selection composition like flow 2 pro? Where we can freely choose where the subject should be in the frame?
@OttoJulian_
@OttoJulian_ Күн бұрын
@@amersyawal yes you can reframe on the M7, easiest way is with the screen where you tap the subject to reframe. Flow 2 pro offers a more straight forward “select one point” approach which is easier for beginners or casual users but the M7 can be more accurate on the exact location needed.
