I had to get a replacement as well. The first one had an issue with the firmware or hardware or both! I made sure with the replacement to update it with the DJI Assistant 2. I updated the bird first, then the remote, and bam magic! The first one failed when I used the phone.

Where is the link button on the drone? It was blinking red, you said. Excellent presentation on firmware installation . DJi could have sent the firmware updates on the SD chip.

I just got the Phantom 4 Pro is obstacle avoidance on be default what i tried going near something to test it in RTH mode and it got to close and i got nervous and pulled back i don't think its working? what can i do to make sure its working??

Not sure why you had to manually link the controller to the drone. Shouldn't they be linked together right from the factory ?

Yes, you are right, but sometimes they come not binded. I have had one in the past that wasn't ready out the box.

My upgrade failed Using the Assistant 2 on my mac mini. A weird thing happened when i was doing the update. My Philips hue Lights went crazy when the upgrade was running. Wonder if these light can cause some kind of interference..

Not all devices are compatible for update, i ended up using my cellphone for update when i had my samsung tablet. I used a surface book for assistant 2 update.

What if my controller is linked n aircraft takes off with gimbal control but zer0 "joystick" or movement controls. The joystick does not work on the stimulator either.

Great tutorial! I'm struggling as well with my Phantom 4 Pro 2.0 RTK...I did (4) projects and one day out of the blue...the only way to turn on/off the RTK antenna, I have insert the battery or pull it out. Also, the Base doesn't want to connect to the internet of my cel phone nor office. I found your tutorial and now I have to go out and by some cables!!!! Is there a Wifi way if you know? BTW...Just subbed to your channel

Had to try multiple times to update my phantom 4....the usb from my phone straight into the drone using the go app. Not sure what i did right but after the progress bar freezing at 1% then 4% a few times it magically worked one time. Think its just luck of the draw. Reset the controller once as well maybe that helped. My update stopped at 99% so i shut off the drone and the app, once i restarted it didnt prompt me to update firmware so i plugged the drone into my mac book and looked on the assistant app and it said my firmware was the latest one so even though it froze at 99% it still finished...but my video feed was now pixelated and cutting in and out so i tried my other phone(samsung s5) and it prompted me to update the controller which wasnt coming up when i was trying to fly using my samsung S8....anyways i updated the controller and now everything works. Hope this helps somebody out since dji updates are rough.

Just purchased a Phantom 4 Pro. I have updated the firmware, but the controller won't connect to the aircraft, saying "Aircraft Disconnected."The Overall Status shows "Latest Firmware." I have tried linking them using the Remote Controller Settings and "Linking RC." The left button on the Controller turns Blue. When I push the frequency button on the aircraft, nothing happens. Where do I go from here?

Did you hold down linking button on aircraft, you can also follow link instructions on actual screen.

Hi Miles, I did push the frequency button and hold it for several seconds. I finally called the retailer and they told me to return it. Second one updated very easily and was already linked. I watched a tutorial on how to link the controller with the aircraft and it started out, "the controller and aircraft is linked at the factory... but if yours wasn't, blah, blah, blah...this is what you need to do." Mine wasn't and the online tutorial didn't help. My update on the second one also went to 99%, like yours. Why only 99% and then a prompt to move forward?!? Why isn't the machine ready to fly when you buy it? Although DJI probably makes the best quad copter available, it is very weak in its support. No one to talk to on the weekend? Are you kidding me??? Really??? A potentially billion dollar company in a multi-billion dollar industry can't pay someone to answer a phone on a weekend? Really?I had similar issues with my P3P getting started, but that retailer, Drone World, helped me by phone. Trying to solve a problem by sorting through the forums eventually leaves you wondering if you missed a step, or if there really is something wrong with the machine and it needs to be returned. After I exchanged the first machine today, I followed along with this tutorial step be step. You reached a point where you connected the drone and your smart phone and said, "this is what your screen will look like." Mine didn't. All online help was the same. Do this or do that and this is what you should see. Didn't happen with the first or second machine today. DJI's tutorial was the same. My updates would not follow the directions. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and proceeded again. If you look only at KZbin for tutorials on updating the firmware on the P4P, there are probably more than two dozen with an aggregate of 75,000 views. This tells me something is lacking when you buy it.

when the update reached 100 percent I clicked on finish download, after that it asked me to restart the aircraft So I did but while restarting I disconnected the cable. Iam pretty sure it reached 100 percent before the restart. now when I start the remote, the app opens and the pop up status page appears and it says update available. And when I click on it nothing happens. The message is there tho it says update available but I can't download it. I know I did a mistake disconnecting the USB cable.. What should I do now? Sorry if this was a long message

You should always start the RC first then your Phantom, if you don't wanna have "Binding" issues :) Edit: And also you should always make the Phantom Firmware upgrade first, before doing the RC Firmware. (Source: DJI Manual)

thanks for posting this man...I have been trying to resolve an issue with my new p4p not connecting to the controller. Been emailing tech support for 1.5 weeks but they couldn't fix it. Sounds stupid but nowhere in the literature or the advice given did it mention that the controller must be switched on when updating the drone with the Assistant. I had the latest firmware on both but the drone had been updated before the controller via the app.

not gone for a flight yet...that will be this weekend. I did manage to put the motors into idle. Although you used a different technique you made me realise that the bird is transmitting to the remote when running the firmware update. I am sure none of the guidance provided cared to mention the controller MUST be on when upgrading the bird's firmware. The process was thrown out by the Assistant.

I have a brand new Phantom 4 Pro and I am recieving an error that states gimball cannot receive mc data. Also I have 3 solid red lights on my bird with one arm not lighting up at all. There is a constant beeping sound on my bird. Very frustrating. Any tips?

Yes, you can bind the remote by going to RC on go app and select bind RC. Look under left hand side of P3 for reset button and push for a couple of seconds, RC should bind to bird. Also the P3 works off your phones or tablet WiFi connection. Look under you WiFi settings with your phone and look for Phantom3_2ec310. Click on that and connect using default code 12341234.

My update failed it said unable to access data on this device, reconnect usb cable ad try again. That failed to and it said to download Samsung smart switch @ www.samsung.com/smartswitch and another message prompted mr to Watch Firmware upgrade Tutorial in Academy. I don't get it my friend ??
