I upgraded to the P4-ADV-Plus, and I never even got as far as you got, As it was brand new at first it asked me to register the drone! but part way through that it then asked me to update the drone!, so basically I was getting nowhere stuck in a loop? as it never gave me time to finish either job (register/upgrade) before switching to the other job. I found smashing the drone in to little pieces really helped fix this problem, the experience has left me scared for life, my left eye has a permanent twitch, and I can here the DJI start up tone none stop, I now live in a ward full of male nurses.

A couple quick comments: 1) It's not a good idea to leave the antennas on the remote folded together. This is your connection to both the P4P and Wi-Fi. You could possibly have connection problems either way with the antennas folded. 2) Very important to start the remote controller and let it FULLY boot up before starting up the P4P.

Did all of this and every time I select "Go Fly" it just crashes. Spent a day fiddling with it and they finally told me to just return it for a replacement. They are also paying the shipping, but jeeze Louise... most trouble I've ever had with a DJI product. I suggested that they replace it with the P4Pro and not sent another P4Pro + but the woman just said "ok we are sending a replacement" and didn't understand the difference I was talking about. Anyway... hope the next unit is ok, I need it to be :)

Thanks for the tip with the micro usb cable...kind of silly...I did the update with my mac but still had an issue that it says "Update required"...after I have done it with the two micro usb cables it disappeared. Top!

Had to try multiple times to update my phantom 4....the usb from my phone straight into the drone using the go app. Not sure what i did right but after the progress bar freezing at 1% then 4% a few times it magically worked one time. Think its just luck of the draw. Reset the controller once as well maybe that helped.

If you have a problem with the aircraft firmware upgrade, try connecting the aircraft directly to your tablet or phone (not the phantom 4 pro + controller) with the dji go 4 software installed on the tablet or phone. After 3 days of pulling my hair out, this finally worked. The update did stall out a 99%, but when I connected the bird to the pro + controller, the firmware check showed the newest version.

Im having the same problem, I tried for about 5 hours yesterday to get this thing updated. It says the update is complete but when i reboot everything it says it needs to be updated again, but now i have no video signal as well. I did the update as you did with the remote screen and i also did the refresh using the assistant 2 and i keep getting the same results. I did get a notification one time saying that there was an update compatibility issue and i could swipe the notification if i wanted to resolve the issue, well i swiped it and it did nothing at all. I have a feeling that I will be boxing it back up soon and i have only had it a couple of days. lol

hello. i've got a phantom 4 advanced. 2 weeks old now, it said to do a firmware upgrade so i did so then i needed to recalibrate my vision sensors so i did so. now on my controller, it's not displaying the video stream from the drone to my monitor. any help with this

Before I go get one.. I'm confused as to how you connect the phone (android) to the remote without a cable like you have in your video? Probably a dumb question but most video's I've watched have the phone connected with a cable to the remote. You obviously don't have a cable yet your connected. Thanks!

I've also read plenty of comments that say you need to put the phone in airplane mode to avoid interference. If I do that I'm even more confused since with all the wireless turned off in airplane mode how could it possibly connect wirelessly. Like I said above, it's probably a dumb question and I'll probably be like "oh, yea.. duh!" but if someone can explain this to me I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!!

So with the Phantom 4 and P4 Pro, you don't connect wirelessly, you must use a wire to connect to the remote. The Phantom comes with the wire that you need. The big thing is that you can connect the quad to the remote in 2 places (via full size USB or the smaller USB connector). The update only works when you connect it like I showed in this video. Hope that helps!

Very informative video thanks. One difference in connecting the P4P and P4P+ for the firmware upgrade. The video shows the P4P+ so the connection is from the controller USB to the drone as you have demonstrated. If you have the P4P the connection is from the drone directly to the iPad, iPhone, etc, not the controller. At least that is the way it worked for me.

Hello, I have phantom 4 pro. I started to get weak image transmission signal warning and my phone screen shows black/green only. I checked & played with the HD settings but no success. According to the dji app, i have the latest firmwares, however when i check the release notes on the dji website, it says that the rc firmware should be 1.4.1.0 whereas the "about" section on the app shows that i have 1.9.2+ for the RC... i always did the updates via the app according to its notifications but there seems to be an inconsistency. Can this be the reason for the weak image transmission signal? If yes, how do i get the correct& corresponding rc firmware via the app? Thank you

I own a Phantom 4pro+ too... So after the August 2017 firmware update my video image was completely pixelated... After searching the forums I learned that by doing a factory reset on the controller the video issue would get fixed. I did that and the issue with the video disappeared. Thing is that now the telemetry isn't accurate, the indicator LEDs on the drone blink 4 times green as it should be, and two long red blink ones... The interesting part is that the application aircraft's status tab shows all systems working normally🤔 . I called DJI customer support and they told me to perform an IMU and Compass calibration to fix the issue. I did it, but the problem still happening. The aircraft also shows a negative number on its altitude gauge with the aircraft still on the ground. I'm stuck with a $1700 paper desk weight in my house because under this conditions my drone is not reliable for flying. Ohh, another thing is that the gimbal moves by itself side to side really slow without any inputs...🤔 Anybody experiencing something like that? I need help desperately...

Wow...that sounds terrible. I have a couple of thoughts. First, I know that the P4 (and all other DJI drones) are very susceptible to magnetic interference. Be sure you are not on concrete with rebar, near power lines, etc. I have seen the negative number on the altitude before when I start it in one place (like on a hill) and then move to some place lower...but never on start up. The camera thing is weird. My only suggestion would be to do the reset again, update to the latest firmware, then go calibrate everything out in a big field - away from any possible interference. Maybe hover it 5 feet in the air for a bit to see if it is stable. I wish I had a better answer...please let us know if you manage to get it fixed.

Off the subject, do you know if there is a way to download the flight data from the p4p controller? I had an sd memory card in the uav go bad but some photos show up on the flight data and I'd like to pull the photos off. I'm afraid to reload the firmware in the controller for fear I may loose the flight data. Jim

That cable is not specific to DJI. It is something you can buy at any computer or electronics store. Or even get it on Amazon. Unfortunately, you will need it to do any updates to your DJI P4Pro.

The following happened to me and maybe you can help me: I bought a Phantom 4pro + and I blew it on the door of my house and experienced very low signal (the screen turned green, and I also lost a signal completely, this made me nervous but started to return to home alone) I have a Mavic pro 2 years ago and at the door of my house I can fly it to 800 meters without losing signal. I researched a bit and found it useful to turn off the Wi-Fi on the remote control that comes with the included screen, and use the 2.4Ghz band, this got better, but at 500 meters I lose signal. Is there anything I can do? I'm seriously thinking about returning it and staying with the mavic that gives me more security.

Have you tried using DJI Assist? That requires connecting the Phantom to your computer. Should be able to fix it with that.

I have been waiting for Dji to give me a refund on a F4. .now for going on 3 months.. Who do you know there? Damn, help me out. This is ridiculous.. Email communication sucks. They don't seem to be on the same page as the person/office that I spoke to when they sent me the postage for the return.. My wife is breathing down my neck.. She really thinks that it is best to buy Dji from Sams Club, or another distributor.. I thought that buying direct; even though it is not cheaper.. would be appreciated by Dji.. wtf, $1,400.00 in limbo; wherever that is. . Dji. I guess; I don't know.. I don't know what to think. Phantom 5 might be out before I get my refund to purchase P4pro.. Are they too big, too fast? No communication at all now.. Unbelievable.. not even returning my emails.. I'm not bugging them, but have sent two emails asking what's up.. No answer, just emails from them trying to sell other stuff.. Is this just me.. ?

Thanks for updating the title. I have just discovered today that the problem is in the mobile device. I was using my iPhone 6 with no luck to resolve the issue. Then I upgraded to the iPhone 7 and PERFECTION. I have my drone back. Go figure. I posted the fix I used on the DJI forum site, and on Facebook as well for anyone that may have the same issue.

From my experience, it appears that most of the DJI tech help people have never flown nor use these drones, they just read from a prepared list and when I tried to explain that my controller doesn't use a phone nor touch pad, they don't know what I'm talking about. They appear to run you through this list before they will turn the problem over to one of the "Engineers" that will never talk to you directly.
