+Alphonsa John Personally I would go for the iPad mini 4 because the iPod has a 4.4 inch screen and for me that's a little to small. it's really how much you want to pay. the iPad mini 4 starts at $399 for 16 GB, and the iPod 6G starts at $199 for 16GB. and for 32 GB it's a $100 extra for both models.

At first I didn't care for the small styrofoam case, but now I luv it. It's very durable and is much easier to carry around than similar drones in suitcase-type cases. I wouldn't check this on an airplane but it's an easy carry-on.

As far as unboxing videos go I've never understood their popularity, but the unboxing portion of this video was very good, as well as the demo. You mentioned the drone would automatically return home if it lost the signal. Does it monitor remaining battery levels and automatically return home once a certain threshold is reached (ideally, relative to distance to home?)

+DetroitBORG figured i'd mention i have the dji phantom 3 pro 4k and can happily confirm that I was able to easily fly mine over 2 miles away and video quality and remote signal is still very good. now this was still within line of sight on a very good day. there are people out there that go farther but i dont personally risk it as this was quite an investment for me.
