DJI Pocket 3 vs Sony ZV-E1 vs GoPro 12 vs iPhone 15 Pro Max; WTH!

Being a vlogger who talks to the camera most of the time, I'd go for the OP3. The 1-inch sensor brings a nice bokeh, it's stylish, and crazy easy to use. Relying on a phone's front camera for solid video quality is a challenge, and the ZV-E1 is a bit too bulky.

Nice video Scott! Considering the pocket 3 is only about a quarter of the price of Sony ZV-E1, I believe it's a really impressive camera.

Not many people are gonna tell the difference between Sony-ZV-E1 and Pocket 3. Therefore Pocket 3 is my work camera and best thing I have so much work on and Im making more money than before with this camera. I absolutely love it. There are too many positives outweighing the negatives about the P3.

The p3 fires up your creativity, I would argue. All those angles. Add to that monopods to get stabilized jib and crane shots. The possibilities are endless

I prefer the iphone 14 pro with anamorphic lens and gimbal. Comes out really great for a small package.

You should do a comparison using log for each device minus the go-pro. Apple log on the iphone will make a massive difference and compete with the ZV E1 imo as I have this camera.

Here is another issue. The biggest issue. I was shooting for a realtor with a full frame Sony setup and a DJI RS 3 pro with a 12mm non D lens. The footage looked great. A guy came and asked the realtor if he could try to shoot it with a Pocket 2 to see if he liked it. Well, the Realtor liked the price at less than 1/2 of what I was charging. He told me that it did look better but that his clients could never tell the difference and that it was only to be used for weeks or months until the sale. The full frame lens does look a lot better with the nice depth of field. But remember that you did not use any nd filters on the DJI as well. Bottom line is that most will not be able to tell. Kind of like the old days shooting 35mm film. The kids today call that look old and outdated. They like the crisp and almost plastic look.

As a sign of the times. I have clients that would never accept a little camera etc. I will use mine for Broll shots and promos. If I get mine this week. I am goin to do a Lube Center commercial with it. Samsung said that we are within 5 years of using cell phone instead of cameras. If they get the depth of field right with simi smooth stabilization. They may do it. Now the Sony Full Frame kills everything. The was a day that Canon said that mirrorless cameras were toys. That professionals would never use these toys. That was when the Canon 5Dmark2 just came out. @@ScottsReviews

If you have tens of thousands worth of topline gear already sure stay with what you have but for everyone else on the planet there is no competition with the Pocket 3 unless you are going underwater. This thing is a Game changer for travel vloggers and many many others also I suspect. PS EV -2 Sharpness -2 and see how it looks, the only bad thing with it is its so light sensitive its easily blown out without NDs in daylight.

Also hard to give up the ability to change lenses. I hear you on the convenience factor. I guess it's ok to have both the sony and pocket 3. Cheers.

When you see footage like this side by side, I dont like the hero 12 and Iphone. For ease of use the pocket 3 is my favorite, yeah the zv-e1 looks best.

Iphone has bad low light and Pro res files are huge. I like having a separate device for filming. Thanks for the comparison.

You are right about low light but I noticed a vast improvement when I moved from the 11 Pro to my current 13 Pro so progress is being made there. There is a video on here about using an iPhone for a hot of the moon that teaches you how to set the iPhone for a reasonably good quality shot of the moon. Its certainly not what you would get from a ZV E-1 but it is good enough (Considering its effectively half the price!) to be able to distinguish the craters and get some detail around hte edges of the shot. Bt it requires manual configuration and a couple of tricks like getting the focus locked on the edge of the moon.

@@ScottsReviews Couldn't either till I saw a tutorial on taking a photo of the moon and then apples behind the scenes of how they produced their M3 product release with the ioPhone 15 and about $400K of supporting gimbles, cranes, dolly and editing equipment as well as a 100-person crew!

That Sony is significantly better. The phone is on par with the DJI. I guess it depends on how much you’re filming. Short clips the Sony is boss. Holding a setup all day the DJI is more realistic. If the DJI were like $250 it would be more compelling. Otherwise it’s phone for easy convenient video and the Sony for a more real video.

@@kell7195 I bought the pocket 3 and in my experience it blows away anything for low light video against phone and APSC cameras. Plus it has tracking and a gimbal. It’s a great value.

After seeing Apples behind the scenes video I am certain that an iPhone 15 Pro or Max can meet all the requirements of a professional product presentation as long as you have an experienced crew and support equipment. I really can't justify using a mirrorless camra anymore except in outlier situations where I need extreme zoom of for low light video and photography.
