Also two more things about the DJI RC 1) The Covered USB C port I connect devices like external SSD Drive or USB C Card reader etc in host type mode, the uncovered one is for charging, you will need a proper 20 pin cable to do this ie: the 10GB/s cables, the cheaper cables just wont work. 2) The Photo/Camera Button on the right It is a 2 position button just like a DSLR camera has the function of HOLD this button too does the same thing, for arguments sake you can focus on something close, semi depress the button till you hear the beep that its locked on target then re-frame the shot while holding that button semi depressed and finally full press to take the photo. This makes for some nice BOKAH effects or exposure locking on the desired object.

Thanks for this comprehensive review. However, small remark: the hyperlapse way points scenarios CAN be recorded and replayed as many times you want over time. You tap on it and name it the way you want. I recorded the same hyperlapse scenario about 20 times along a 12 months period in order to shoot the progress of a construction in my neighborhood, and did a final video using all the rushes….

Range its 100% the same between the two. BUT with the older RC-N1 you get one advantage in Europe: the Dji Fly app can be tweaked to work in FCC mode which offers a much better range. But I prefer to use the new RC because of the much more smoother controll and since you need to keep the drone in the visual line of sight the new RC is the better choice.

Wow, in a wide open area, like over the ocean or up a large river, I can get 8000(edit: 5130 actually is the max I've done, my bad)meters away with my mini 2 before signal starts to get bad enough that I get nervous. 1500 meters is terrible. I'm literally about to cancel my order. Edit: I was mistaken, the furthest I've flown is 5130 m away. Still insanely more range than what the mini 3 seems to be getting with the new remote.

8000m in the eu or uk ?, as eu and uk models are massively reduced range compared to usa etc due to eu ruling on max amount of power in the antennas , my origional mini wouldnt go past 700m, max i got by the sea was 1500m and that was with yagi antenna extensions on it

why don't you just buy a regular controller and use it when you want long range?
@lifson222 жыл бұрын
@@dheller777 while you're not wrong about that being a solution, it's ridiculous for them to sell the highest priced package with a controller that doesn't get anywhere near their advertised range. That's not just a problem with long range flights either. Weak signal strength means more issues with signal penetration, so obstacles and general interference will be more problematic. No one should have to spend more money to get the performance they're advertising.

In the EU, real world range is around 300 metres maximum. In the EU, DJI do not enable the radio power used in FCC countries. If you have the new Remote RC, there is currently no way to load "alternative" apps to get round the problem. I guess there will be a load of disappointed EU owners when the range limitation becomes apparent.
@Dcrainmaker2 жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as EU vs non-EU hardware models anymore, that ended years ago. It's all the same model, and is simply restricted by unit looking at your current location. It boosts power in FCC-locales, and reduces it in EU locales. On the inside you'll find all the applicable stickers for all countries. So, in one case I'm demonstrating in the EU, at 1,500m, and others under FCC rules. Frankly, I got further under EU rules.
@videolan2 жыл бұрын
@@Dcrainmaker I know all that about the hardware/firmware/software - maybe I should have been clearer in stating that the software/firmware need not be restricted to EU power levels when used in the UK as the UK is no longer in the EU. I find it hard to believe you got 1,500m in the EU unless you were on top of a hill in open country and no interference from other wifi signals. The story is horribly different in a built up area with loads of other signals interfering.

I've got the air2S or Mini 2 up 50m over and behind me, set "auto Pilot," on the app and tucked the N1 in my jacket. I took off down all kinds of MTB trails. With GPS it is so nice to just keep it well above all tree tops, no constant view needed but still a safe and a cool view. Never had an issue. It has cable cam function with subject tracking. . . and more, lots more. It is not perfectly shot, jerky especially close but reliable, easy to clean up in post with a stabilizer. The drone always shows up a couple miles down the trail positioned, relatively, where I left it. . . ! I can't believe DJI doesn't have that. . . these days, used to. . . I make epic adventure videos, light, fast, technical scrambles and climbs on big mountains and desert venues. Some MTB in there too. . . if you ever need any big epic drone shots I'd love to set you up or with info too, been flying just under 15K feet a few times! Your info and testing is very useful to me, wind! Like knowing I'll likely be able to just take this RC with 2 drones, on my longer trips saving me weight and phone setup for the Air2S with N1. . . Awesome! Please come visit, as an athlete I know you will be impressed and enjoy. Two warnings, don't be afraid of heights and I only use drones in about 2/3s of my trips due to wilderness area restrictions. . . always have an i phone, GoPro and often 360 cam though. . . hope to see you and chat. . .
