DJI Ronin-M/MX Counterweight Set Issue (Lower Mounting plate too small!)

The DJI Ronin-M/MX Counterweight Set Issue. The lower mounting plate is 1mm smaller then the mounting plate that comes with the Ronin MX. Thus the quick release will not function. Had this issue today! You need to make the silver lever tighter with the smaller ronin Allen key.

Yes, but every time you switch to the other plate you have to adjust again. Takes away the advantage of having a quick release.

I have the Ronin-M and I just purchased the same counterweight set for Ronin M/MX as well. The XLong Base Plate R-005 IS TOO SMALL - same issue :-( Customer support tried to say they are the same size, but clearly that is not the case. They are sending me a new XLong Base Plate so we'll see if it's any better...

My Visual Listings Orlando was the replacement plate defective also? Is it worth it to exchange?

How often are you realistically going to be switching cameras after going through that balancing work?

Mike Novelli I don't want to after balancing. Hopefully in the future I can have a dedicated camera but for now I need to multitask it.

I'm dealing with the same issue, let us know who things went with you.. maybe post an update to this video.. I Ordered mine from the US, and live elsewhere, the ting that bugs me the most is if I had to send back the ridiculously heavy brick of a kit just to get a plate replaced..

BOHO WORKS I wish they would admit the issue and just replace the plate. They still have me jumping through hoops.

Ha I had this same issue, the silver lever the locks your camera is backwards. Flip it forward and you should be all good!

We took possession of our counterweight kit on 18th October 2018. Same issue but ours was 0.25mm too small. I decided not to send it back and used car spray in the gripping edges and now works fine, and quick releases. Just thought I would let you all know.

What is car spray?

chasiu75 perhaps I should have said touch up paint for cars. I used a liquid type with a small brush, but presumably a spray can of paint will do the same job. It may take a couple of layers if the slide is a lot smaller. Best of luck.

This video is 100% accurate - we also took delivery of this kit today and the fault is still very much evident, 6 months after this video was posted. Hopefully Creative Video Productions (London) will offer a full refund. Anyone know of an alternative solution for counter balancing that actually works?
