My yard has been going crazy w/all this rain lately and all I have is a weed eater and w/prices now...the line I used to get went from $5 to $12 so now, I was looking for a how to video. After several "meh" ones I'm glad I ran into yours. Thanks for the thorough explanation. I was about to sub but I noticed this was your last video in 4 years.

Using your instructions I have successfully restrung my B & D line trimmer several times. It's a little tedious, however, considering the savings I can put up with it. I noticed that it helps to pare down the line at its end with a utility knife in order to first insert it into the small hole. I would recommend purchasing some extra pre-strung spools to have on hand when the original spool becomes worn and bites the dust. In addition I would suggest purchasing a spare orange cap with spring. Some ebay sellers have a six pack of the black pre-strung spools with an orange cap and spring included. Thanks for posting this. Very helpful.

So there is a little switch inside where the head goes. I call it a switch . but it's like a little plastic piece that moves back and forth a couple degrees that slides along the gears for the auto line to work. Is there supposed to be a spring attached to that? I've tried to respool 3 times and the line is constantly coming out I was thinking a little spring got out, or does that move back and forth freely? Thank you if you know what I'm talking about
@chasiu753 жыл бұрын
No spring but should dance freely.

You can buy aftermarket ones on Amazon with 30 ft. of line for about $2 a piece when you buy 6 to 10 spools. I got 8 spools with a new cap and spring for $19 and they work very well.

i have 3 b&d string trimmers. The motors burn out really fast. Once you get into some tall grass you'll start to smell an oily firey odor, then you see smoke coming out of the motor housing. I'm going to see if they sell replacement motors. The third one is now starting to burn and I just paid the Lowes bill with the trimmer purchase last week.

I think if you reel out that specific measurement of line and cut it it would not coil tight on you, it seems like you're fighting it more than you have to. You need to let the free end spin around as your coiling, right? Like a pressure washer hose or a ball of line,You have to let the free end spin around as you're coiling. Thank you for the video though,Just what I needed.

Is it common for these things to be defective? I've only put one spool of line through my trimmer. I guess the arm could definitely be broken (haven't opened it up to check), and it could have been bad from the factory.

Good video. For people complaining about you should have edited it, I disagree. Was good to watch it "soup to nuts". You can speed up the video if you like to watch it faster to save time if you like. So about how many "rows" until it is full? About 5? Thanks for the video!

Nice video! Would it help to remove the trimmer line from the package and let the curl straighten out first? With previous trimmers I've re-loaded, the line always wanted to kink and curl. If so, about how many feet of line does it take to load a spool?

It would help actually. It is a fight because it wants to twist. I need to measure it sometime and precut it.
