DJI RS3 Unboxing | My New Camera Gimbal!

Having previously used the original DJI Ronin-S gimbal when it first came out, I've finally got around to upgrading my own gimbal to the DJI RS3 as part of the wider camera equipment upgrades I've made recently.
The RS3 - successor to the RSC 2 - is one of two models offered this generation by DJI. the other being the RS3 Pro. With a larger 1.8" OLED touchscreen, auto lock axis feature and stronger motors in a compact setup, the RS3 will no doubt bring many quality-of-life upgrades for quicker setups, transport and when working with heavier rigs. the security pin on the briefcase grip should probably point towards the ground in order to protect the gimbal from falling when the screw is loose

That's a great point. The grip looks suited for right handed use to have it on the bottom as it will face the wrong way of you try to do it on the left side, which is why the lock is facing upwards. I've personally not had a probably with the grip loosening from the crocodile teeth screw but a good point to check everything is secure. I just prefer the briefcase handle with my left hand

I have a sony a74 with 85mm 1.4 lens. I wonder if this will hold the weight 🤔

Yes it will hold the weight 👍 holds even my A74 + 70-200mm 2.8 GM II (not that I use it but can hold up) , you'll just want to balance as best as possible so the motor needs to work less

No vibration in the battery grip when it turns on and unlocks the axis for me

@@EASEHD means it still isn't properly balanced depending what you mean by awkward movements. The lens position should stay out if you tilt it up, down, angled etc. If that works, them you'll need to play with the movement settings on the controls or app to get the type of movements you want. If you detail more, I may be able to help 🤙

@@OneTechTraveller so the top part of balancing, got the camera to stay straight and not move, the next, had the camera facing upward and Downward without moving. The next one was kind of weird but I found kind of a sweet spot, but then the last balance was the hardest one. It just wouldn’t balance, but I put it in a position where it only moved slightly. Put it on and tried to start recording, and the camera was just facing up the whole time. Got so pissed I put the gimbal back in the packaging exactly as it came and ready for a return💀💀 Also, what do the numbers under ‘tilt’, ‘pan’ , etc. mean? Is that a good way to help u know what u need to balance more properly?

Yeah it's that 3rd party need to readjust. if it's not really in place across the rotation then it will go crazy. I lean the final forward with the legs against my hip and then check the balance that way with the off axis. Once I've found the angle and locked out in then it works. Had it too but once you disk it in, it will work smoothly. The tilt pan etc definitely want to understand that DJI had a support video to calibrate it you can check out. You'll want to adjust that, the dead banding etc or follow other people's profiles for smooth, cinematic movements. Let me know how you get on!
