DJI SRT Subtitle File Editor

A look at a free srt editor which I have coded to manipulate the .srt subtitle files saved by the DJI goggles. This editor is coded in vba code, so it runs in an Excel file. With this tool you can create an srt file which only contains the elements that you want in the subtitle, and you can also rename the labels. Importantly, you can change the flight time to minutes and seconds instead of just seconds as is standard with the DJI output. There is also a functionality to trim the beginning and end of an srt file to make it match up with a video file which has been trimmed in your video editing software.

Hi, nice work on the program. However, it's missing the Long/Lat coordinates that I'm seeking. I want the video from the Mavic 3 to display only long/lat data. Any suggestion?

Yes this program was developed for the DJI FPV system so it only looks at data saved in that system. If you are good with coding you could use the code base and re-write the code to make it relevant to the Mavic 3 SRT files. It would be a big job though.

This script it still amazing! At 5:14 sec mark in your video, you forgot to tick "Yes Include" for Pilot Name label. That's why it did not export it inside SRT file :)

This is really co0ol! Thanks for all the work you've done to make this. I've never fully understood canvas mode, and what a lot of people are complaining about missing. What actually is canvas mode, and how does this differ from it? This certainly allows for a lot of variance in where the items get placed, that we couldn't do before. Great thinking! 😎🤘

Canvas mode is where the OSD is put on the screen. But actually just so there's no confusion, this video shows a tool for overlaying the OSD (srt) data on the recorded video in post processing. Like what you would do before uploading a video to KZbin.

@@KOrnhOliO1 No you have bayyery voltage and a few other things. I'm tahlong about Betaflight OSD here with DJI. the main thing you need is battery voltage. But there are a lot of importnat things missing.

Hey I stumbled upon this video while searching for how to edit the subtitles, good stuff, however I do not use the DJI goggles, I have a mini 3 Pro & the subtitles currently display every metric, I was looking to see if I can only have the Latitude & Longitude along with flight speed in the subtitles, I tried using your macro excel sheet however it does not work for the SRT files generated by the mini 3 Pro drone, would it be possible for you to help by creating a macro for the drone generated SRT files?

Sorry that woudl be a lot of work - Basically rewriting the script because the air unit and DJI camera drones srt files are very different. In the world of FPV people have moved on to other tools to extract this data so i'm not doing any more work on the file.

amazing tool!! But I have another question, maybe you can help. I have recorded long range flights with the dji goggles and several srt files are created. is there a way to merge these files into one? I have already searched the entire internet but unfortunately I can't find anything...

Unfortuantely that's not so easy. If you open the SRT files with atext editor you will see that each data set is numbered and also has a timestamp. You would need to write a program to renumber all those values. But if use a scene based video editor like VSDC you can just do each video in it's own scene. then when you produce the final video all the scenes will be sequenced in order in the final output.

This tool is for the DJI FPV system. It doesn't work with a DJI camera drone.

Yes i removed the link from my site but the page is still there - cubefpv.com/dji-srt-subtitle-file-editor But actually this is and outdated way of doing it. If you just want to add the srt overlay on the video there is a tool on the WTF FPV site - Go to fpv.wtf/ and click on OSD Overlay (this is of course assuming you are using WTF OS on your DJI Goggles)

Very nice! Regarding the trim function, it seems like it might be easier to just mark in/out points in your timeline and export the marked section. Or if you need to make multiple edits maybe nest the video clip and SRT file together and then edit the nested comp in a new timeline. That should work with Avid, Premiere Pro, Final Cut, After Effects, etc but it depends on the capabilities of the editing software you're using.

Yes i like the idea of the nested comp in a new timeline. Im pretty sure my software doesn't have that function. Another option is to process the whole video segment with the srt subs and then then produce it as a video itself and then re-import that and trim as needed.
