Are DJI drones more cinematic than FPV drones?
I'm putting the DJI Mini 4 Pro up against the iFlight Nazgul Evoque V2 to find out once and for all.

Wow, both video's are excellent...but also so very different. The FPV is obviously fast, fun and exciting. But, for cinematic viewing...I would have to say I prefer the Mini 4.

I use my autel for smooth slow filming. FPV almost always just cause its more fun to fly. But faster filming. More exciting video.. even when its the bad choice its just more fun

DJI video is definitely more cinematic and looks like it tells a story. FPV one is dynamic but directionless; would be great to capture high intensity action sequence with it though. In DJI one the nature was the subject, in FPV one the camera speed & acrobatics was itself the subject.

I loved them both, the 2nd was as expected far more of a rush. LOL. My wife got sick looking at the 2nd clip. Too much motion for the sensitive ones.. ☺ 🤮 Great flying !

I suppose it depends on your mood. Personally, when I'm by the beach/water, I want to chill so if I have to pick one... it's the mini 4pro. But I might be biased... I have one thanks to you and a few other YTers that caused me to 'upgrade' from a Mavic 2 Pro. I don't fly enough so I should probably sell the old one.

both are good for what, I'll say, your end results are. I have to admit that I am not as good editing which is what makes everything. I have found that if you wear goggles with the dji drones, the ones that allow that, you fly them entirely different than if you use the screen controller. but, if you don't have good footage to begin with, you have nothing to end with.

Editing does play a big part, but also, as you say, you need to have good footage to begin with. Hence why I also link at the end a video showing how to get more cinematic footage with the Mini 4 Pro and also with FPV. So, hopefully, that will be less of an issue 😃

Both drones produced great footage and which is best really depends on the purpose of the footage, I wouldn’t say one is more cinematic than the other just that they are both good but in different ways. The DJI is good for slow and stable shots whilst the FPV drone is better for more dynamic and flowing shots. It would be very interesting to see you make a single edit combining clips from both the DJI and FPV drone, it’s something that I haven’t really seen done very much and it may let you use the best aspects of both types of flying.

I’m new in the drone world but I have for a long time wanted and FPV as I want the feeling of flying. For the past few days i’ve seen multiple YT videos of the new Avata 2 and the Mini 4 Pro and finally I can see what the difference between FPV and cinematic is. Thanks for a great video (I’ve seen almost all your videos today) - new sub. I think I will get the Avata 2 for the speed etc. Just curious, is it possible to do more cinematic videos with Avata 2 (if you fly more steady and calm and/or edit in post)?

Hey! That's awesome, Glad you enjoyed the video and are looking into the world of FPV drones. You can also do slower more cinematic shots with the Avata 2 but it's not as good at that particular style of shot as the Mini 4 Pro. Its only a single axis gimbal so it has its limitations. Also its got a much wider native FOV so you will get a different look to the image too. It is possible to an extent but it's easier to achieve with the cinematic drones.

OK I have the drone bug, Proud owner of mini 4 pro and Avata 2 and although I am not an expert, I am comfortable flying in manual now. So thinking about getting a pure FPV drone. Which model do you have please Justin? Is it the Nazgul Evoque F6 V2? Is everyone like this lol, wanting more than one drone for different situations? 😊

I have the Nazgul Evoque F5D V2. The F6, 6 inch is also a good option but the 5 Inch is a little more agile. I also use this drone as a dual platform where I have a long range and short range setup with different batteries and antennas so I can avoid having a 7 inch drone also. You can't really go wrong with either the Nazgul or the GepRC mark 5. Personally, I went with the Nazgul, and I haven't looked back. It's a tryuly beautiful drone to fly. Yeah, I think everyone goes through the stage of wanting loads of drones haha. Some people then want a smaller fleet that can do everything, and some just keep buying them till they have a house full of them 😅

I tell u one thing, u get more joy flying fpv. Those that pick dji is bacuase they don't know how to fly acro mode. I was once like that too, nothing is close to acro mode fpv.

This is true. There's nothing like flying full acro FPV. I do still enjoy capturign some nice cinematic stuff with the mini, but 9 times out of 10 I fly FPV 😃

Thank you! I use the Freewell ND filters, in this video I used an ND128 and an ND128PL also a bit of colour grading in post to give it more of a look I like. 😃

Neathier because you LIE Which is better DJI or DJI.... you ain't fooling me bro their both DJI anyone into Drones and FPV knows DJI sells a Air unit all in one to work with their goggles so the only difference here is 1 his Post Editing and the fact that one is the gopro vs DJI Mini pro 4 camera on board I mean if you didnt know this you would think its the same but idk I feel like this guy is fly because even his "FPV Drone" ONE OF the core elements hes still using DJI just a different controller

Not sure what you're getting at here 😂 It's an O3 air unit on an iFlight drone. The drone is not made by DJI and it's an FPV drone. Where the Mini 4 Pro is a stabilised drone. That's the core comparison of the video. If you think FPV footage and DJI Mini 4 Pro footage are the same then I'm not sure what to say. Thanks for the feedback 😃
