I’d highly recommend looking at the Emlid RS2 for GCPs. The DRTK base isn’t really good enough for true survey grade results. See tested it alongside the Emlid and the difference is scarily huge in terms of results! Great video too.

I just got the P1 for my Matrice 300. I just finished flying my first mission with it and all of my images look washed out. I didnt do anything to the camera out of the box, except active it. Then created the mission and sent it out. Is there an internal parameter that I should look at? I know it was set to first waypoint autofocus. Its kind of cloudy here today. Grey sky. Snow on the ground. So im not sure why all my images are the way they are.

Congrats! Try to set the image color, iso, aperture, etc.. to auto from the menu settings.

@@Abdulmalik320q Ahh, okay. Ill try that this morning. Its weird because I had zero issues with my H20T camera out of the box. Just activated and sent it up. Beautiful imagery from it. Hopefully I can get the P1 looking as good.

@@seko5170 I’m not 100% sure. But it’s happened twice now since getting it. I have a suspicion what it is, but not guaranteed. I think when the camera takes its sample photo at the beginning of the mission, if the sun is shining towards the camera, the sample image ends up over exposed. And from what I read the remainder of images taken from for the mission will have the same settings as the initial sample photo. So it ends up taking over exposed pics for the duration of the mission. What I’ve been doing since the 2nd time it’s happened, is ensuring the camera is facing away from the sun when it takes its initial photo. Hasn’t happened since i started doing that. And again, I’m not for sure if that has anything to do with why it happened those two other times. But so far so good lol

If money isn't an issue because you work for a larger corp - just go all out like I did. 128 GB Ram.

Why shoot in full auto? You get better results in manual mode and more consistent

Hi Dainel👋, thanks for your note! We totally agree that, if you set shutter speed, aperture, and ISO correct, your results will be more consistent and your image quality might be better. It is important that you are aware of all influences of your flight mission, e.g. buildings, elevation differences, cloudy weahter, shadows, etc. We decided not to got into this topic too much, as it is quite complex and we rather like to educate our customers for this topic during our training. In general, the auto settings of DJI are extremely good and makes this high-resolution camera an incredible easy to use tool for non-experts in photography. During our tests, we also experienced, that there were was almost no loss in quality, which surprised us quite positively. Let us know what is your experience with regards to our comments, which settings and environmental conditions you are surveying at and if your image quality in auto mode differs from ours! You keep mentioning topo and that requires Lidar not just camera.
