Pleased this is an exciting venture for you. I assumed it would retain my interests, however it was the astonishing results I'd seen featured in a video shot in the Central, South American jungle, that by use of LIDAR Topographical mapping tech, had exposed incredible, unkown ruins. For years airline pilots flying standard routes in the area had reported sighting of monolithic structures appearing through the thick jungle canopy, none of which were known of or explored.The technical aspects of lidar are fascinating, however, they pale in comparison to what they uncover.

Is it possible to use a combination of Lidar and thermal imaging to look at vehicles under vegetation and see which are in use and which not as well as presence of people?
@IndianaDrones2 жыл бұрын
The LiDAR can see through the trees. So the car would be visible. But, people do not look like people in the LiDAR. More like... blobs. You could use thermal to tell if the engine was hot, but that's about it.

Great job on the overall LEO explanation for LIDAR. Let's talk about overall accuracy and GCP's and how they help with work flow and posting of the project as well in more detail....think you did do this but maybe in more detail now. The end game is what?....The end game is very accurate contours for the most part. To get these there is a specific work flow that needs to be followed No? This work flow is like a check list and if not always done to speed your information will suffer...No? RTK as you mentioned is from my point of view Madison Avenue Marketing. So in agreement with you. Something that no one really talks about is the accuracy of the inertial part of the equation and HARDWARE that provides this information. This could be the difference of good and bad contours with respect to accuracy. The point is that a cheaper LIDAR system using sub grade systems does not drive the value add in my humble opinion. Not saying one needs to spend 150K for a system, but rather 40-50 all in to get a system that gives the accuracy needed....and sought after. Thanks for doing what you do.

What the USA needs, especially Texas, are more RPLS’s! You can have all the crews, drones and drafters in the world but if there is a VERY limited number of Surveyors to review those surveys, it becomes a HUGE problem! Not to mention that most of them are consumed with paranoia regarding their license. I had one Surveyor who refused to sign re-plats or email his signed and sealed surveys to me after his review.
