Its funny how when you start cutting on the tables and you start to notice the needle jumpings and the quick recoveries in these videos that you didn't notice before, they go by so fast and the average person doesn't even know that it happened.

98 US finals might be the dopest battle ever. Maybe I'm a little biased, this was the battle I was introduced to back in the day...but fuck, I was lucky to be introduced to the game with this VHS. Shit was dope.

Short cut still has the best chops in the game and drumming he is also outstanding on the ones and twos he has the most potential to win this as craze is artistically and uniquely sound on his sets this night Craze took it
@rcayabyab8994 Жыл бұрын
It was basically going to be Shortkut’s year, until Craze blew everyone out of the water with his Set. But Short is still the Trifecta of Turntablism: Skratching, Juggling and Drumming.

Classic Piklz routine. Great drumming, power scratching, juggling (actually ShortKut is the only consistent juggler from the group). However, the routine is sloppy overall (lots of needle jumping). The transition from routine to routine is not very good. Is it as if he listed all his best routines then performed them one after the other.

No, because it wasn't. Craze set a whole new standard.

@@PickpocketJoneswhere is craze now? I have never searched a crazy routine to analyze his scratches or juggles. What scratch or juggle pattern has he set the standard for?
@clokwize Жыл бұрын
@@tomcruz7479 craze had a well rounded set with many variations of techniques. He incorporated a lot of wow factors in his set which the Allies were good at. his drum and bass sound was pretty new and different at the time right around when edm like dub step was coming in. basically Allies were the new, young ISP coming into the scene at this time. So considering these things it makes sense why Craze won. But all that aside, Shortkut really showed true mastery and skill of a real turntablist. Showed that ISP wasn't going to take a L so easily and really held their reputation. This was like a transitioning moment in DJing. From skills and technicality of raw scratching and juggling (which was really reaching it's peak by this time) to a more unique sounding blend of music utilizing new ideas and technology. (craze and atrak to this day are coming up with new routines that make full use of the new technologies of new DJ Equipments)

Two much scratching on that one turntable to be a winner. Need a few more juggles and other stuff in there for variation. Great set though
@rcayabyab8994 Жыл бұрын
Shortkut is a Turntablist Trifecta. He did Skratching, Juggling, and Drumming all in this Set. Did you pay close attention to him incorporating Juggling after Skratching in his Electro Routine near the end? Short himself admitted that it wasn’t the cleanest Set he’s done overall, during a Reaction Video with Craze and Dummy. But he delivered in the end.
@getthoseskills4451 Жыл бұрын
its a great set with a brilliant juggle at the the start but then he lacks the variation in the second half of the set. He is doing too much on his left turntable with the drumming and then scratching. Craze incorporates everything and constantly engages both turntables and that's why he wins.
@jel2106 Жыл бұрын
Short’s routine was more a classic hip hop turntablism set - it’s like the best of that style that was around at the time. I absolutely love it. Craze’s set started off in that same style but then started mixing genres and styles and doing something that hadn’t really been done before but without disappearing up its own arse and still retaining that essential funkiness. Both amazing but Craze deserved the win.
