I just want to use my drone. It's ridiculously difficult to get going. QR codes don't scan. The app constantly crashes. And now the drone is locked! It says I need the latest firmware but i have installed the latest firmware. This seems like a fairly common problem so why doesn't DJI do something about it?!?! Plus the battery barely lasts 15 minutes. I really wish I went with another brand.

Thank you DJI. I've had the Spark for 3 days and couldn't figure out how to link the remote. It works OK with just the phone app but it was frustrating not being able to use the remote that I had paid for. It's all better now.

Brian, I am having the same problem you had with my new Spark. The remote won't link. The Spark will link via WiFi with my phone, but I don't want to fly it using my phone. I have followed a half-dozen tutorials with no luck. An entry-level drone shouldn't be this difficult! How did you finally get yours to work?

discovered today, by calling dji, if you have the fly more remote, you have to connect the the remote and not the spark. the wifi that shows up on your phone is to the remote not the drone. so, use the info on the back of the remote controller. you can bet i told DJI they might want to let customers know........

Nice tutorial! But you should add a auto-connect function within the app, meaning that if the Sparks or RCs network is found the phone automatically connects to it. Going into the phone settings everytime is a bit annoying.

Do I SERIOUSLY need to relink the RC and the Spark EVERY TIME I switch from app remote mode to the RC!? How cumbersome would that be. Or do I simply hold the Spark's power button for 3 seconds and it will relink with the recently paired RC?

Problems: I keep getting this message telling me it's going to change WLAN settings because I'm in the wrong country (it's an obscure place called the USA), and I should connect later. (Later is at least a week, apparently). My phone can't read these tiny QR codes. My Spark Wi-Fi won't stay connected with my phone for more than 3-4 seconds. DJI Assistant 2 keeps giving me this weird DOS error message, but it seems to be installed. I'm supposed to have a spare computer (for a total of one phone and two computers) to help update the software (or whatever I'm trying to do, I have so many issues that it's hard to remember). I need about 5 spare batteries to last long enough for customer service to give me the right answer. Maybe I'm just stupid. I'm sure some [censored] will let me know.

When I view KZbin, I see those Flyers play with their DJI Spark and hear the Voice Messages whenever they fly their Drones, which I feel so impressed and excited to have in mine but to no avail, whenever I do it myself. Well you see, I'm an old man, who fly Dji Drones during my free time and I fantasized having those Voice Messages, to alert me and warn me if He is up in the air, rather than using my Mobile Phone's screen , to look after my DJI Sparkee, in the Control Icons, which I missed to look after because of my old weary eyes. You have great video but i still fail to link my spark with my controller and my phone. First I try to connect to wi-fi, instead it disconnects the wi-fi when I enter the password. I am not an expert in operating any of the devices but i try many times and i just cant seem to start any of it. I am not sure what i have to do to use the hand gesture controls ether. I thought i can operate the flight by simply first click once, then click twice for starting then quick click twice to do the face recognition and it will fly, nothing works. This is normal for iPhone that there is ''no internet conncetion'' on Wifi Settings even though the wifi has been connected, please enter DJI Go 4 APP to see if the RC has been connected. If there is no luck, please reset RC's wifi: press and hold the remote controller’s power button for nine seconds. When the remote controller makes "DDD-DD" beeping sounds, the Wi-Fi is reset.

I have big problem. I found a good deal on a used Spark. When i tried looking for the password on the drone's sticker, the pass and about a quarter of the QR code were erased. Since it's been a fairly old Spark and the part of the deal was a new case i didn't get the original box. Now i can't connect to the drone in order to update the firmware so i can connect it via the OTG cable. I can connect to the RC's WiFi, though so it at least works, but connecting via the cable would give me a much more stable image on my phone. Is there a workaround to this problem.

Just got one today. It did the same thing and would not scan the QR code on the box, but it did scan the one on the spark. I am using a Galaxy s7 edge. Pain in the butt to go through the whole connection process. It is very confusing and I am very tech savvy and have been flying RC airplanes and helicopters for years. Ridiculous how hard this is to connect. I do not have the remote, just my phone. As others have said, it could easily be a one button connection. No reason to be this hard. It will work on Android, but come on, make this easier DJI.

SUPER IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have the Fly More combo, the controller and drone are already paired with each other, all that you will have to do is to connect to the controller's wifi (SSID and password on the bottom) then launch the DJI GO 4 app and get the drone activated and pass the FAA drone quiz. this is unbelievable - a seemingly brilliant product, but hopeless manual, ambiguous instructions, the smallest print possible, light gray text on white, the stupidity is mindboggling - support useless so far - I also have a Mavic Pro, but so far have been unable to get the spark to fly - they should get themselves a pro manual writer ... sorry about the rant, just so frustrating...

BTW, the cable that comes with your Spark or Mavic that is supposed to connect to your controller doesn't work. You have to buy an after market OTG cable or call DJI for a replacement cable made in the USA. Supposedly, the new firmware for the Mavic eliminates the use of the OTG cable. Well, no! Your controller (or at least mine) won't bind with the drone unless I use an after market cable.

I had the same problem and no ones answer on here solved it. I have found a solution. You have to turn your phone's data connection off (disable mobile data), then it will connect to the spark! I agree, connecting to this little device is horrible and I really hope there is a solution like data cable connection.

This is garbage the QR scan label is so small that it has never worked for me, I have tried to put it in using the sparks WI-FI settings and that fails as well. I do not know how other people get them working as mine has never flown yet.

to help you guys out the one main problem i had was pairing the spark to the remote controller you hold the power button on spark for 3-4 seconds and once the red light starts blinking on the spark you turn on the controller and press the red pause button then the fn button and then the black bumber on the back (not at the same time in, a quick sequence in the order i stated. every video i watched made it seem like you had to press them at the same time (Hopefully i was alright at explaining it),

ok, if your go app is showing as disconnected even if your phone shows it's connected to the spark wifi turn off your mobile data so you just have the wireless connection to the drone, it worked for me but during setup you have to keep turning mobile data off and on as required... it's total BS...

Hi there, if you would love to connect the aircraft to the mobile device via WiFi directly (without RC), you may connect the aircraft to DJI Assistant 2 to the computer to acquire the password of the aircraft. If you would connect the RC with the mobie device and aircraft, please try to reset the RC password by long pressing the power button for about 9 seconds, the default password is 12341234. Hope this is informative for you.

Activating not possible without qr code, if your mobile data connection is on. So: 1. Join your mobile to the RC with hand >> in wifi connection. 2. Turn off the data connection, mobil-net >> off 3. Start DJI Go4. In this case you can avoid the QR code fail to activate, or qr code joint to the RC or Spark. You can activate later in other pop-up window the drone. Enjoy...

** TIPS IF YOURS IS NOT WORKING** Turn on your drone and hold the button on the battery for 9 seconds. You should hear D-DD-DDD. this thing drains my android phone, a full battery (which usually lasts more than a day of use) connected to the RC remote control lasts 10 mins before the phone battery runs out (doesn't even last as long as the 16 mins the drone battery lasts). not sure what its doing, I can sit on wifi at home for hours on it.

every time I want to link my Spark to my phone I have to turn on the Spark then hold the power button for 9 sec or the 3 DDD as you call it. Then go to Wifi settings. Then put in the password then open the DJI GO 4 APP then scan the box then reset all my settings. There has to be an easier way to get this done.

Android works fine, unlink your spark from your controller (power up spark, then hold power button in for 6 seconds, you will hear 2 beeps), then go to your phone and wifi settings, and you will see your spark.

This has been a painful experience to link / update the DJI Spart with Note 8... Something does not seem to work, the QR Scanning does not work, the Wifi seems to connect, but app not recognize it... What a nightmare. My Bepop 2 is so much easier to set up so far... and I have not even went on a single fly after 24 hours fighting this app

I had the same issue with the QR code - THIS IS HOW TO RESOLVE IT. 1. Turn on the DJI Spark 2. Turn on the Controller 3. Connect your wifi from your phone to the controller (username & password are on the back of the controller) 4. Open the app, and follow the prompts. Goodluck !

I am on my second drone now from DJI. My first was a Phantom 4 Pro. That stopped working following an update about 9 months ago. I literally tried everything, but the drone would not do anything at al following the update :( Even given this I still bought the DJI Spark 7 days ago. As yet ......... 7 days after purchasing it I am still to get it to connect to the Wi-Fi. It goes through the process, but then says the internet is not available. Undeterred I decided to scan the QR code........that wasnt recognised either. Basically I have had my drone 7 days and as yet it hasnt even fired up the props. VERY UNHAPPY with DJI, and their products, and equally unhappy with their customer service, who always make you feel its your fault, even though it isnt. This thread clearly demonstrates there are an awful lot of people out there that cannot get their drone to connect or work. DJI this is your fault and your problem - not ours.

I have Phantom 4 and Inspire 1 from before. But to link spark was not easy. I have combo With Controller. This video you se here dont help if you have the Controller RC. I find out of It after some time. You moust Write password back on sender/Rc!!! Not from drone. When I do It I had conection. Now I will fly IT))))))

Rc is Controller. If you bay combo then you get Rc=Controller. When you bind Your mobile phone you bind It to RC not drone. I follow video and begin With drone but nothing happen. After some time I understand. Password behind Rc to mobile phone=Conection!! Then fly away. God Luck!
