END OF BEGINNING LYRICS:
Just one more tear to cry
One teardrop from my eye
You better save it for
The middle of the night
When things aren’t black and white
Enter, Troubadour:
“Remember 24?”
And when I’m back in Chicago, I feel it
Another version of me, I was in it
I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
This song has started now
And you're just finding out
Now isn’t that a laugh?
A major sacrifice but clueless at the time
Enter, Caroline:
“Just trust me you’ll be fine”
And when I’m back in Chicago I feel it
Another version of me, I was in it
I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man
You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man
You take the man out of the city, not the city out the man
You take the man out of the
And when I’m back in Chicago, I feel it
Another version of me, I was in it
I wave goodbye to the end of beginning
Goodbye
Goodbye

@@muthuselvir315it’s a colloquialism that’s been around for ages. Like, ‘You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.” Something you would say when your new gal orders “a Venti Carmel Macchiato, REAL milk, and can y’all put 3 squirts in there?” Also applies to the melancholy of missing the vibe of the place that helped shape you and what you love.❤️ You can’t take the Chicago out of me, and I live in the desert now.

Man this song is like the distillation of emotion that I could never put into words when I left the small city that i spent my 20’s in. I had grown to hate the place but still was leaving behind friends I had grown to love, and the city was where I had met my wife and my son was born. Leaving was in some ways sweeter than leaving my home town to move there, and in some ways more bitter.

I was diagnosed as an autistic and now in the process of getting off psychiatric meds (that never helped me) after being for ten years on then. And this song feels really fitting now. Because i think about misdiagnosed version of me, who thought she was the wrong one, the crazy one, the lost one. I am so excited for a next chapter of my life. And i really like this song ❤

I remember when this album first came out in 2022, when I was 22, and it was the soundtrack of my life post-breaku, and just during a weird time in general. Now, this song is blowing up the year I turn 24, and the lyric “Remember 24?” really sticks out now, haha. I’m so happy Djo is getting the recognition he deserves as an artist. Everytime I listen to this song, it reminds me of the place that I spent my degree which is so far from home and it took 10 hours to drive there. Whenever I visit that place, it feels so nostalgic that there’s another version of me living there 7 years ago. It’s a place I spent my youth for 5 years.

This is also what i felt when I listen to the song for the first time, working so hard to earn the degree that we wanted, lots of sacrifices were made, the emotionally instability we had, the anxious that we had, "just trust me, you will be fine" was our mantra during the times we thought we will never it earn. It was nostalgic indeed.

This song has soo many feelings in it. Many eras of my life and the good times but I also find this as that comfort and closure song of my sister and her unexpected death in 2022. this song is just so powerful. like i feel so happy and so so sad. i imagine my entire life flashing by with this song. Everywhere I've ever lived, everyone I've ever known, every school I attended, every place I've ever visited, every person I've loved. It's so meaningful and so beautiful. I love that I'm alive. Life is so scary, every part of my life there's been fear, but there's also been everything else. And nostalgia makes me forget about the fear I used to hold and make me remember all the stuff that happened outside of my fears in the moment, bc those moments are long gone. I just finished my freshman year at college and me and a bunch of friends are going on a beach trip. Im totally gonna play this. Im gonna be totaly drunk but I want to end off my night and our trip with a good song like this. My first year at college was unforgettable. I think a lot of people either have a really good or really bad first year. Im glad my first year was really good. I dont think I'll ever have this much fun bc I'll have to actually take my future seriously. But this year? It was a really nice break, one I think was really needed for me before I turned 20. (im turning 20 in like a couple months lol) ofc I'll still party it up in my 20s but for my last send off to being a kid in their teens, I think I can properly move on from being a teenager. I think Ive been holding onto feeling 17 for a little too long.
