Great tips. I have a story in reverse however; A friend of mine (no, really) was an opening DJ at a certain spot in San Diego. Now the reason he (and other DJ's) were not headlining was because the official "Headliner" was the resident and had a contract with the club. My boy used to set it off, but almost never played any current bangers (because he didn't want to step on the "Res"), but he didn't need to because as I'm sure you know, a (very) good DJ knows how to turn it out whether or not he/she is playing current bangers. Anyway, my friend would have the crowd hyped (something I thought the opener was supposed to do) and when the "res" would see this, he would cut my boy's set off at the knees! This kat constantly felt threatened and did everything in his power to hold peeps back. His favorite (and "go to") line when he fronted on an opener was "This my s#!t"! So that's the story of the "Headliner" would burn the "Opener".

A suggestion of mine would be if you play the bangers again the opener burned you for, play a remix version or mashup that you know will still work.

This is true. I have used all these.

If the opener burned your bangers don't worry, dig in your crate and find that exclusive remixed version (of course give it a few hours before dropping it) that will set your set on fire. Also, don't do long transitions don't let the song run 3 minutes unless the crowds singing along. A big plus if you have mic skills if you can rock the mic and get the crowd yelling in the chorus than that's a huge advantage. Another thing that sets me apart from the rest here in my area is that I also produce and edit, edit your tracks to your liking so that your set will fit your style and be different. Energies another factor, if you sit around and get discouraged from the opener playing the bangers you had fixed in your set than that, will affect your moral. Dont let it get to you. Use it as a guide to feed off of. Listen to what worked for him and pay atenttion to what didnt.

nice tips, yes please ,,,,you can play the songs 4 hours later or even 3 hours later, very little people are there three hours later that was there when it was banging , and like he said you have about 30 to 50 new people three hours later ,,plus these people live in a shuffle world now. so hearing the song again three hours later is not a big deal., they have it programmed into there iphone to play songs again anyway, lol, you can also play the song in a different remix or blend it with a clever intro /outro
