I've owned my MC4000 for about over a year now and I always thought that these jogs were broken by default bro...HOLY MOLY Turns out I had a native instruments usb cable with a ferrite choke just laying around. Been playing with it for an hour now. I've never seen these jogs work so flawlessly. I've also been experiencing some terrible sound issues when connected to my EON 615s. Some noise starts coming from the speakers, like they're about to blow up. My dads been a musician all his life, so he knows a thing or two about unwanted sounds coming from the speakers. He was the first one who suggested that the issue might be along some of the cables and that I should be using a ferrite choke cable not only with my usb, but also with my controller's power supply.
@RaquelFoster4 жыл бұрын
USB cables - like XLR cables - are impedance balanced with differential signaling. The signal is very resistant to RFI/EMI. Ultra-2 SCSI started using Low Voltage Differential cables in 1997 and just about every data cable since then is differential. So it's not really a signal integrity problem. If it was interference, that ferrite core wouldn't help because it's on the controller side. Any interference induced in the cable still goes to the computer. But even if the signal is fine, the cable is still an antenna for EMI and a lightning rod for ESD. Static or bad grounding causes ground bounce. The controller can't tell its ones from its zeroes. Was it dry in the house? Who knows where static electricity wants to go inside a Class II device with an ungrounded power supply. And the jog wheels are capacitive, so they are by definition sensitive to ESD. And Ferrite cores reduce ESD problems, too! It'd be interesting to see if you could still get it to glitch if you took your shoes off or wore a wrist strap.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong. First of all the platters are capacitance based (like your phone screen) not touch based. You have a grounding issue where you are (could be just the kitchen or the hole house), it just happens that that cable helps. (has better ground signal continuity). Example I new someone who had to DJ barefoot at a particular venue do get past the grounding issue there as the DDJ-SZ they had would do the same thing. Good advise regardless however that you should always use USB cables with a choke for a variety of other reasons.

This is true and I’m glad I came across this video, my flx 6 has this issue with my laptop as it is only a standard intel pentium R and I have this same problem, thing is that this cable may solve my issues but I can also say the same time if I can upgrade to an i5 I will no longer have the issue as I tried my controller on a fiends laptop and it played flawlessly.

There is a grounding issue with the usb cables but the reason that’s happening is because you’re barefoot on the tiles .... if you put on flip flops or shoes it won’t happen .... that’s why it doesn’t happen when you’re performing at gigs.

interesting video - I know it's old but I here in the UK my SB3 didn't come with that cable, mind you mine was B-Stock so could be why its different. However, I have noticed something else with the SB3 which I am not sure if you have ever seen it. Mine doesn't glitch like yours. However if I plug it into a weak USB port, the after a while PAD 6 on both decks start to flash and although the controller acts and works fine, that flashing pad can be annoying. it's essentially an error code for low power. As soon as I plugged it into a more beefier USB port the problem went away.

I am having similar problems with my Denon DJ MC4000. The output to my speakers would get completely cut. The problem would switch between channels. I would adjust the buffer on the software and it would temporarily fix the problem. I would adjust it in the middle of a song so that I would get the audio to come back. The cable that came with my controller is a basic 2.0 usb cable without the ferrite choke. I've owned the controller for 3 months and until now the problem has started. If indeed the cable is the problem, why do you think manufacturers include these inadequate cables with their products? How's your controller behaving with this cable? Did it solve the problem permanently or was it something else? Why not do an update? Thanks for your help.

Hi Buddy, hope you can help. I have been using a DDJ SX2 for over four years now. Recently, it has had an issue with "Sound Dropouts". No matter if I use Traktor, Serato or DDJ Pro software, whilst the track continues to play (wave guide and volume indication lamps continue to show track playing), the sound stops for a split second then continues, sometimes often, sometimes less frequently. Any suggestions for a fix? Do you think that my USB cable needs to suddenly be changed or perhaps a software problem? Thank you 👍

Upon multiple moving, and multiple gigs, the original cable was lost. I used a regular USB cable with no problem until I came across this issue in that room that day, and that's when I learned about the ferrite choke. Also, an interesting discovery I found is that not all controllers come with this type of cable either. I open several boxes of gear for my job and usually it comes with a regular USB cable. I deduce that the only time this is a real issue is when the controller itself is powered by the solely computer, and it has a touch sensitive jog wheels. When interference is introduced, say maybe a strong wifi router nearby, that's when this problem happens.
