Delta has made a great choice with the A350-1000 and its transition to an all Airbus fleet would be even better for the Airline

The -1000 is the ideal plane for Delta as not only does it have the advantage of fleet and crew commonality, the competition is massively underperforming, especially on production quality and safety. Even though the Trent XWB-97 engines on the A350-1000 have some drawbacks, I'm guessing that Rolls Royce would have resolved most of the issues by 2026.

DL isn't that concerned about the engine issues. They are an MRO provider for RR on the engine and will actually get paid to service their own engines.

A350 is the ideal choice for any airline that wants a modern solution to large widebody operations. The 777 is a great plane, but the 777X is just another example of rebranding an old design. From a passenger perspective, the 339 and 359 in DL’s configuration are a very enjoyable experience.

The A350-1000 is a sweet plane - glad to see Delta is adding them to the fleet. We've been on the Virgin Atlantic (LHR:ATL) a few times and if is a smooth, comfortable, and quiet ride. The fact that they can fly it w/ a pressure around 6000' and at a higher humidity (~20%) helps immensely with the experience. The ATL:LHR leg (Delta) is on a very tired 767.

Whoa, wasn’t expecting the -1000 in Delta’s fleet, since they’ve considered it “TOO LARGE” for their fleet. These -1000s might probably take the place of the Delta 747-400s that were retired 5-6 years ago!!! Wasn’t expecting a large aircraft to be in their fleet since the 747-400!!!
@thecockerel86
@thecockerel86 11 ай бұрын
Same here, which is why the American legacies won't touch the 777X. It's simply too big. The A350-1000 is their upper limit in capacity.
@dennisthebrony2022
@dennisthebrony2022 11 ай бұрын
@@thecockerel86 But I was TRULY SHOCKED when ESPECIALLY Delta ordered the -1000, because they did not have the 777-300ER, because they also considered the 300ER too big for their fleet, so they stuck with their “SECOND LARGEST” (or now largest) planes in their fleet to be the same size as their 777-200s, no larger than that. And the A350-900s are basically the same size as the 777-200s, and was their flagship plane before this larger A350-1000. The A350-1000 will NOW BE the NEW FLAGSHIP FOR DELTA, taking over the -900 in terms of size and amenities!!!
@thecockerel86
@thecockerel86 11 ай бұрын
@@dennisthebrony2022 I think the post-lockdown demand for flights is what has caused this. So, to contradict what I said earlier, it is not entirely out of the realm of possibility for one of the legacies to break rank and go for the 777X. Not very likely but also not impossible.

My AvGeek side would like to see both the 777X and A350-1000 fly in Delta Colors. But from a business standpoint Delta made a really good decision in buying the A350-1000 rather than the 777X. The A350 will come sooner and will be cheaper for Delta to operate as their crews are already familiar with the A350-900. Also given Boeing’s recent hurtles and issues with their aircraft, they might’ve run into some issues.

The A330-800neo would only be a great fit for its SLC hub if had the demand for Asian routes. It isn’t there. Hey Wall Street types -- are ya happy now? You demanded Boeing think of the shareholders first, second, third, and everywhere and Boeing did as you wished. Cut costs they said and Boeing outsourced more of their production. Cut more costs they said and Boeing moved more production to lower wage areas in the USA. Cut more costs they said and Boeing reduced the amount of senior experienced people replacing them with lower cost newbies. Don't build a new replacement for the aging 737 as that would cost a lot and lower profits IN THE SHORT RUN. Boeing is a basket case and the combination of Wall Street demands and Boeings Bean Counter mentality have doomed them! I worked on Boeing planes while in the USAF! I long admired the inventiveness and the attention to detail and quality that WERE hallmarks of the Boeing I used to know, but that Boeing no longer exists -- killed off from the inside in a kind of corporate Seppuku. Not directly related to this but still on Delta: they don't seem to have a plan to replace their aging 757 and 767. They haven't ordered the a321xlr and the 737-10s they have ordered don't have the range and look to be configured more as 737-900 replacements. The replacement for the 767 is the 787-8 (as they do seat in the low 200 range) and I'm surprised Delta hasn't ordered these Dreamliners as they do seem to be proven. The a330-900 is much larger and I'm sure they won't go with the a330-800 that is too niche for most.

@Delta_NWAB747fan
@Delta_NWAB747fan 11 ай бұрын
@@nickolliver3021 yes. Not only is Boeing in hot water, their older aircraft are much better. The 777X is too big and is entirely different than the 777-200LR’s Delta already has (which are better). Not only is the 737 MAX bringing down Boeing as a company, the 777X is so big and different to the still pretty new 777-200/300, there needs to be new training. That’s very expensive. Delta made the right choice. 777, 767, 757, and 737NG’s Delta still has are incredibly good aircraft and will last a while longer. The A350-1000 goes well as a counterpart to the A350-900, A330 NEO’s, & ex. Northwest A330’s.
@nickolliver3021
@nickolliver3021 11 ай бұрын
@@Delta_NWAB747fan The 777x isn't too big. Once certified it will gain orders. Boeing won't be brought down by the 737 MAX. The 777x is for operators that really operate 787. As they can switch between the two if they want more of both. But the -1000 order will do very good to them that's for sure. There will be 787-10 orders too over this year once boeing try to sort themselves out. Fingers crossed this happens this year as a wake up call.

This is such great news for Delta! 🎉✈️🙌🏼✅ it was only natural to add the a350-1000 to their fleet… with this order, they will become one of the largest a350 operators worldwide with 44 a359’s & 20 a35k’s + 20 options (alongside SQ and QA). The extra capacity and range will make up for what was missing since the 777-200LR retirement! And remember these jets will come built in NPS spec (new production standards) too so the MTOW and performance will be better than current operational a35k’s too! I’m also curious to see what routes will utilize these jets and they should also paint one in Skyteam livery as well being the new flagship plane!👍🏼😊

I think the decision by Delta to purchase the A350-1000 is a prudent decision since the aircraft will compliment their existing fleet of A350-900s. Boeing has little to offer Delta. The 777X is taking too long to come to market when airlines need new aircraft to accommodate their route structure and to replace their aging fleet. Great choice by Delta to ensure fleet commonality.

I’ve thought that but the 900 gets the same fuel burn per mile and Delta’s longest range routes typically can fill the 350 capacity. The 800 really is a good fit for smaller market hub routes that require considerable range. Hence why it works for Kuwait Air and Greenland Air. The 800 really only makes sense if Delta upped its international routes out of SLC. The airport has been rebuilt to handle that but the demand for the longer range routes isn’t there. SLC to HND, ICN, FCO, TLV, PVG, DXB, BOM, etc would be ideal routes if they had the requisite passenger demand but they don’t.

The current grounding of b737max9 in US due to poor quality control. Airbus don’t have these issue.
