Quick tip - on CDJs, if you want to "censor" words with reverse, you'll need to enable Slip first. On 2000NXS2s, there's a Slip Reverse function that does this in one switch!

DJ TechTools and if you don't have top off the line 2000nxs2, you can activate Slip Mode and then use reverse, works perfectly 😉

Y'all need more content. It feels like ages go by between uploads. I'm still going to watch them all, but I think it would be cool to put up some more live sets and quick jams. Stuff that would keep everyone entertained!

Why isn't there the ability to make a loop but from where you are backwards? Like set the start 4 bars back from where you are now. Seems like that would be useful

what are all these guys doing tutorials for? these tutorials should be done by professional DJ's with years of experience. this guy looks like he started DJ-ing last month or so. Sync, Beatgrids are off, selection is horrible, phrasing horrible, jog wheel work not really (SYNC), using the reverse on top of that vocal sounded horrible. no disrespect guys, I do like your channel, but you definitely need to get people who actually are good at what they do, so we can learn something new from them and improve all together. cheers :)

Your mixing is so rusty and your best matching is awkward and beginner level at best. I find using reverse quickly during a one count with slip mode on adds a touch of flare without alienating your crowd.

What i saw Butch (DJ) do the other day was pretty cool aswell: He had a track running and took out the bass. On another CDJ he had an atmospheric build up (not a track, just a build up) which was (my guess) only 32 beats long. He played the build up next to the main song. Once the build-up ended he hit reverse and put the bass in the main track back on. worked perfectly and had me standing there quite amazed ;)

I'd love to see more rmx 1000 videos. So many possibilities, so little experimentation time. Between a day job, VJing (as it pays some bills), DJing and all the stuff that accompanies it, sees less time devoted to messing around with crazy little underutilized box.

Awesome video! Another method I found starts with this betty ford record i found crate digging. Sounds amazing forward and backwards, however it sound a bit harder forward. I found that I can beatmatch the reverse into the song playing, fade it and then bring betty back, forward.

Seeing these videos just reminds me how useful beatjump is on traktor / traktor x1 mk2. I think these tips are superhelpful for disaster-recovery like missing loop, approaching end of song, etc - which are all just as useful as the 'intended' types of effects. But yea, makes me glad when traktor is accessible for a set

You can do some pretty funky break edits using a reverse loop from the same tune on another deck! Maybe you guys could show that?
@djhappyemo7 жыл бұрын
personally I'm not really that professional but I don't see many people using these tips, I like to use as many features as I can but I rarely use reverse unless it's with slip mode on just to mix up the changeover from one track to the next, like reversing for 4 beats before a drop/bass drum etc, but I'll think about these next time I'm playing and see what other things I could do with reverse
@djtechtools7 жыл бұрын
It's def a more off-the-wall technique, but I've found it to genuinely be effective for the type of mixing that I do. Watch a full mix example here: djtechtools.com/2017/03/27/use-reverse-cdjs-creative-dj-mixes/ -Dan

I have been coming up with new ideas for ways to mix. I had been experimenting trying new things. I just searched some ideas for a bit on inspiration and found your video. Despite what some people are saying, I actually really like what you did here, particularly the last idea you had of mixing the song in, in reverse. So much so, I’m going to tinker around with it and see if I can find some tracks that go together. It makes me so happy to see people think about things a differently and push the boundaries. Keep it up man!!!! And thanks for the inspiration.
