Thank you DK. I think we have seen much of what is to come. I will be ok if I am wrong. Yes I agree with you, hands off pitching. Another good one DK

DK, you summed it up perfectly. This GM wouldn’t know Mickey Mantle from Mickey Mouse. It scares me Cherington will be afraid of losing his job and make another Archer-Glasnow trade then get fired and Pirate fans are stuck with a couple career minor leaguers he traded for.

As DK mentioned, Cherington is sitting on his posterior, doing nada. A REAL GM, one DK knows of, would strike while the iron is hot, before orher teams. However, the hardest scenario is, even with a new GM who is all in, being able to convince good players to sign in Pittsburgh, is going to take a whole lot of convincing; most likely more cash to sign.

I'm afraid I have to second your NO CONFIDENCE vote on Cherington trading a pitching prospect, DK. Jones and Chandler should be untouchable under the current regime.

So we're stuck with Cheringtin and Shelton for '25. Even if they're fired after or during the season ( highly unlikely), that leaves the team with only 3/4 years left of Skenes. Such a short window to turn it into a legitimate contender. The Pirates have, and I mean HAVE TO, go out and sign a guy like Anthony Santander. Fill that RF positiion, even if it means using half the new budget limit to do it. Get Christian Walker. SS can be fixed enough internally for now. Peggy deserves a shot in the lineup to see if he can be that guy.

I would have no problem with them moving Keller, Ortiz,Falter and Even Burrows in the right deals, but the rest of them should not be traded.

If you aren't willing to trade starting pitching you're resigned to another losing season and another wasted year of Paul Skenes tenure in Pittsburgh. Maybe it's worth it to get a competent GM, but boy is that a tough pill to swallow. Best looking pitcher in franchise history, and we likely only hold onto him for 3 more seasons.

How about signing competent players in free agency. You're still doomed to mediocrity if all you do is dumpster dive every off-season.

When I think about the upcoming 2025 season, I already view it as a double-edged sword in the _literal_ sense (two sharp edges leading to unfavorable outcomes). Sword edge #1: We already know that Pirates management is completely inept (particularly the GM and the field manager), so the 2025 season could implode in the very same ways the past five seasons imploded. Pirate fans don't deserve another year of mediocre-to-bad baseball, and that's squarely on Bob Nutting. He didn't do what he should have done after the 2024 season ended -- clean house -- and in my view, it's a slap in the face to Pirate fans everywhere. That very pointed lack of action by Nutting is a total disgrace, period. Sword edge #2: I find this possibility to be even more disturbing. What if the Pirate players happen to perform better this upcoming season DESPITE management, and things align for the Pirates in 2025 in such a way that the team actually achieves some success? Cherington, etc. will puff themselves up, claim credit, and act like they're in fact quite good at their jobs-- when we've witnessed the complete opposite for the past five years. Also, what if Cherington, Shelton, etc. actually _try_ to be better in their roles in 2025 simply because their jobs are (probably) on the line? And what if they happen to "luck into" a few favorable results? I didn't want to see this specific management group again in 2025, let alone beyond. These offenders absolutely didn't deserve to keep their jobs, and I don't want to see any scenario in which they can continue to remain employed. The overall situation has become much more complicated than it should be, thanks to atrocious ownership.

J1Q! Hey DK, long time listener first time commenter (somebody should make an abbreviation for that) Everybody keeps acting like trading is the only good way to address LF&1B, seems 1B is super easy to me, do what they should have done last year, sign Carlos Santana! he checks every box they need and he could be had for the money they just didn't spend on Chapman. LF (i know i'm crazy) but get that payroll up over 100m and go get Tyler O'neil! i think this would dramatically improve the team, somehow i want to cheer for this to happen, the team to make the playoffs, and Cherington and Shelton to still be gone by seasons end. even if the bucs win the world series with these moves..... still fire everybody, still abandon ship Bob!

Chapman will not be back in '25. Red Sox just signed him to 10.75 mil. Deal.

Would be nice if they would use some of the money saved and increased salary money this year to buy a real 1st baseman and/or outfielder. They won't though so it is on Nutting for employing the worst gm I've ever seen in recent baseball history
