They 100% lacked discipline last couple of years. I 100% believed Najee and Minkah when talking about accountability and people thinking they just automatically had their spots without having to put in the work. It was clear to see the issue players last year. They're now gone. Can't wait for tonight's episode!!

It was Johnson and Pickens last year. That's it. Tomlin spoke to them. They were called out by the players. Then, when attitudes didn't change enough, Johnson was shipped out of town. What you're seeing is accountability. Johnson was obviously too immature to change, even when his own teammates were trying to fight him in the locker room. Now he's gone. While Tomlin has been here, when a players attitude is out of line, they're gone. Blunt, Harrison, Brown, Johnson. It doesn't matter who they are. If they don't act right, they're shown the door.

What you mentioned about field time in the pocket is what I say to people that tells me "yo!....have you seen, Justin Fields....he's a beast!" And I respond " keep in mind, Justin isn't under any pressure because the D-fense can't touch him" this is why I the click bait on these other channel I simply ignore. Because their assessment on Fields, is baseless. It's just ridiculous to think he's getting the starting QB based off these practice scenarios. That's all it is. Scenarios. Remember, they said the same thing about Pickett. Sorry DK, I know you said you put him behind you. Love the show.

Morning DK! Loved Jack’s question. I’ll take it one step further, if Mason and Kenny were here and either Wilson or Fields was the only one, would Mason and Kenny be better players with Smith at the helm vs that other guy we couldn’t wait for the Steelers to get rid of?

Regardless of it being Wilson or Fields do you think that it’s a legit concern that the defense may be on the field more in high danger situations due to the what I’m predicting to be a sharp uptick in QB turnovers, especially fumbles. It’s going to be a better offense but I worry how turnovers could become the back breaker of the season. Great stuff as always DK and I hope you have a good rest of your day.

GM DK, man I love when players impact the play without the ball in their hands. Nothing shows football intellect, and heart more IMO. Smith reminds me of an old school football mind somewhat, and what team was known in the past as a more physical team than the Steelers? I think the issues Fields had in Chicago may have been more of a Chicago problem than a JF problem I really do. Look no farther than their history at that position, or should I say lack of. Thanks DK

I appreciate the honest assessment when it comes the J1Q. The fact of the matter is, we’re never gonna know how someone is going to pan out until they play. To say Tomlin handled the QB situation poorly isn’t fair. We had to draft a QB when Ben retired. The whole league wrote Mason Rudolph off. Let’s not forget they did give him the opportunity to sign elsewhere… No one else did, we welcomed him back with open arms. We gave KP a fair shot. We had Mitch on payroll. We weren’t going to bypass him for Mason. As for the Russell Wilson situation. Nathaniel Hackett was not expecting Russell Wilson to be his quarterback. he was expecting to have Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Aaron Rodgers was going to be the one running the offense not Nathaniel Hackett, even though though he was the coordinator. Sean Payton never had an interest in Russell Wilson. so to be honest, he didn’t get a fair chance in Denver. As for Seattle, whenever teams are so close to winning a Super Bowl a dark cloud can hang over a franchise. Look at the Atlanta Falcons for example they blew a 28 point league and that franchise has not been the same since. sometimes players and coaches need a fresh start. if we had Aaron Rodgers and Justin Fields, would we still be questioning starting Aaron Rodgers over Justin Fields? I think we all just want to see explosive QB play so we try to over hype this QB situation. I think the biggest thing to be proud of us we went and got two potential QBs who could have us in contention.

I'm okay with Tomlin choosing Russ to start based on prior experience. What I will not be okay with is letting Russ stay in for half the season if he is playing sub-par football. This is where Tomlin kills the team. He did this with both Mitch and Kenny, and one could argue even Ben at some points.

It's pretty obvious what the team is doing in regards to the QB situation, they know Russ is QB1 but they are having Justin get extra reps with the 1st team to get him comfortable just in case he's called upon during the season. Justin is getting to work on his mechanics in the process and get rid of those old Chicago habits that got him labeled a "bad" Quarterback.

Morning DK, the one thing I will never understand about MTs tenure when it's all said and done is the Canada thing and why he put up with it so long, I guess we'll never know for sure but either it was arrogance or not wanting to pay a guy not to work, sometimes you have to cut your losses and move on! Great show as usual sir 😎

good point, but how do you know what happened behind closed doors? Maybe Tomlin wanted Canada gone earlier, but maybe Rooney was the one who kept him around. Tomlin obviously has more say and input on personnel matters than most head coaches, but Rooney still writes the checks, and has the final say...

I hate the way people say Russ was run off by two different teams. Those 2 teams are garbage, and I don't view their moves as evidence of anything. Seattle didn't get anything by running Russ out of town. Carrol got fired anyway, and they got a couple good corners out of it and now they're just another team without a QB. They'd be better off today if they had kept Russ. That goes double for Denver. Sean Peyton is the most overrated coach in the league and they're going to regret going with Bo Nix when Russ is out here throwing for 4k yds and 30 TDs.
