Not only is this rom hack the most faithful one I’ve seen to the gameplay of DKC 1-3, the music is as faithful as I’ve heard from David Wise from the originals as well. This is a masterclass is rom hacking 😍 Kaizo Mario may get all of the press for being ridiculous, but this could have been an actual retail game, and we all would have been 100% in love with it!

My Donkey Kong Country 4 would have been a New Orleans /Swamp theme. Swanky and Funky are at a casino when all the other Kongs get captured so you play as them. One level is a Kremling themed Mardi Gras parade and there are casino bonus games. K Rool has a crocodile skull mask and is into voodoo now. He has voodoo dolls of all the Kongs and uses them to his advantage. Instead of rat enemies you would have possums. Also, there are good Kremlings that help you out along the way. That’s just off the top of my head

Level designer melhorou muito e as escolhas dos inimigos também, não é mais vários inimigos aleatórios, eles encaixam nessa fase mesmo. A jogabilidade parece estar mais leve também apesar de ainda parecer um pouco dura a gravidade está mais suave aparentemente, o ideal seria ter o mesmo nível de leveza de DKC3 que tem a melhor jogabilidade, nas fases de cordas, leveza dos pesos e velocidade de cada personagem. Além disso eu acho que faz sentido os dois grandões conseguirem se jogar de um lado pro outro e deixar a mecânica de esmagar o chão apenas pra quando tiver um pequeno jogando um grande. Precisamos de uma data pra lançamento em? Ande logo ande logo...

Valeu pelos Feedbacks! Quando construí esse level a Engine ainda não havia passado por um reformulação que corrige a gravidade dos personagens por isso realmente eles estão muito pesados para cair, e outra coisa que ainda não havia sido adicionada seria uma melhora na camera, deixando ela mais dinâmica e mostrando trechos da fase de forma mais natural. Por isso em alguns momentos ainda fica dificil ver oque acontece abaixo da camera em trechos de decida

If Nintendo didn’t reject the idea of DKC4 exclusive to the DS we could’ve gotten something like this or maybe it’s about kiddy and funky comes with him to watch after him while all the other Kongs are on an adventure or something! I think it could’ve done well based on the sales of the DS and to think that that could’ve maybe caused for even more support of the DKC series and probably not but even possibly motivate Nintendo to value rare for more and purchase the company and not Microsoft to.

How are the assets created? Which game engine do you use? Great work!

The process by which I compose the scenery is almost like a Matte painting, using photoshop I do a mixture of image manipulation and drawing some things on top. The engine used is Clickteam Fusion 2.5

The game design is so poor. Each level of DKC2 or DKC3 had unique game mechanics which were fun to discover. Here it’s just a platformer reusing sprites randomly with a blurb of chimes Wisesque.
