So what is different about a 21-23 ecm compared to a 17-20? More nanny’s and emissions bs on the 21-23 or did they actually make improvements?

I have noticed, all the 23 CVOs with the gold chrome, blues if the owner adds a free flowing intake and mufflers. Look at pictures of them, they are easy to spot. Maybe it's that they are running them harder? Mine has not blued, 100% stock.
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 8 күн бұрын
Not sure where you're seeing the gold/blue? If it is on the chrome of the mufflers, that is an indication of excessive heat. Devin rides very hard, and his are not discoloring. Generally, especially with the heat that the cat generates, the headpipe is going to see some gold blue color, but it should not spread to the chrome heat shields or chrome on the mufflers. We have an entire series on how to cool down the bikes so they do not get so hot. You can see it here- kzbin.info/aero/PLb3bvZgbH92_3s-2vv63QggFJ3nteFd_C KP

Thanks for the video. And honestly my opinion on it. Some motorcyclists need a nanny. And the built-in nanny, like in this video, is way too nice to them. You have a CVO with fully adjustable chassis and 107 hp at the rear wheel from a high-performance engine that still has to meet all regulatory requirements. Isn't it enough for the road and in any climatic conditions? Many motorcyclists simply do not know the value of the motorcycle, where the manufacturer Harley has invested a lot of money in developing this motorcycle to function safely and reliably. These owners do not see how the Harley employees assembled this motorcycle, which then leaves the factory after the successful final inspection. And when I see how extremely rough some motorcyclists are with their expensive Harleys and then make REV bombs, then these drivers need a nanny. And personally, in my opinion, these people don't deserve a Harley to ride.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I see where you're coming from-motorcycles are definitely built with a lot of care and advanced engineering. It's important for riders to appreciate and respect that.

Maybe HD should stop advertising the idea of Freedom of the open road, selling Stage 1, Stage 2 etc. Upgrade up to 135 etc. Selling Upgrade in the dealerships. And only sell stock bikes and the idea of options and more power for your expensive and cherished-well crafted bike. You have no right to modify or enjoy the bike as you see fit. You will obey

@DKCustomProducts Yes it can. So can a manufacturer going into racing and bragging about performance etc. But it's not difficult or tricky to avoid putting flawed parts in engine or the double standards for modification is OK. If you buy from the factory. But in some cases. Still no warranty for what is stock or OEM.

The Torque Based ETC that is on the bikes equipped with RDRS the computer essentially determines how much power it is going to allow. You can go to the 7:54 minute mark of this video that you are commenting on and Kevin reads about the Torque Based ETC. It's not just H-D - the emmisions agencies worldwide ( including OUTSIDE the states) have been slowly eroding 'bikes power sonce the 1970's with CV carbs and vacuum advance and then EFI. Yeah it's done to lower pollution especially in cities but if manufacturers had actually tuned each bike then they wouldn't pollute so much. I have rrmoved all the EFI junk from my 2010 Dyna when I rebuilt it into a 113" monster making over 130 hp and torque. Here in England there is no yearly emmisions testing but apart from noise levels my bike makes less pollution now than when it left the factory - it must do as it makes more power and uses less fuel ! Every vehicle should be tuned individually but it'd cost too mich !

@@DKCustomProducts You are welcome, I suppose it's ironic that despite most pollution cause by motor vehicles being due to poor tuning in order to minimise manufacturing costs, it is the end-user that gets the blame and pays the costs not manufacturers - I am thinking about the emmisions testing controversy over here in Europe by the big car manufacturers and the increased level of 'personal' taxation have to pay for using vehicles deceptively labelled as 'clean' !

After upgrading the CAM it would be ideal to have the bike tuned. If there is a canned tune for that cam in your bike, you could use that, and then use autotune with a Power Vision. Whether it is a dyno tune or a canned tune, or a canned tune with autotuning, when changing the cam, there must be a change in the tune for the engine to run safely and properly. The Twin Cam's were lean and if you upgraded your Intake and/or Exhaust without a re-tune they were dangerously lean. They stopped making them so lean when they started making the M8's. With all year models of the M8 you can upgrade to a Free Flowing Intake and/or Exhaust without it being dangerously lean with the factory tune. Harleys problems are not their bikes or their price since you can buy lightly used. Their problem is their culture. Harley riders wear a uniform and I don't like that uniform. The prefered shirt is black and preferably a Harley shop shirt from an out of town shop. A long beard is required and braided or hair banded. I don't like any of those things. I ride a gen 1 Ducati Diavel Carbon Red and don't feel the need to dress or look a certain way to be accepted in the Ducati universe. Honda had it right 45 years ago with the "you meet the nicest people on a Honda" campaign. Harley has decided to go in the direction that they will sell fewer bikes but at a higher margin to try to continue this Harley culture myth. Harley is making all shops upgrade to their idea of a superstore and this will push all the independent shops out. You will deal with corporate shops. Harley is fast becoming a boutique brand and going to be their downfall. If the could get rid of their culture and become mainstream they might have a chance.

I will pass this video idea on to Kevin! No you would not need to re-tune your bike for replacing the intake manifold! Thank you for commenting! 👍 MB

We both where running about 70mph and then we just give it hell is bike pulled away for a little but I caught up and kept a higher speed at about 120 and his at 115. I have no tune he has stage 1 HD tune.

I had a 2020 softail standard. I hit 120 with S&S teardrop air cleaner, and neighbor hater slip ons. nobody believed me. They said that Harley had them governed at 100, and that I was lying. Lol. Looks like you are proof the bike could do it.

The only bike that I know of them governed at 100 are the GEN II VVT models as there was a terrible wobble after 100. Sounds like you have your bike running great. Thank you for sharing! MB
