Honestly I’m so mad and tired. I wonder when these men will understand how hard it is to live as women. 10:24 ‘Radical feminism is as toxic as terrorism’ are you SERIOUS?! And this is the youngest elected candidate?!? Honestly people should read more books and articles cause not many actually know the differences between actual liberal/radical feminism (guess what? None of them is about hating men). One last comment: why are women the only one considered extremists when claiming their rights but these men are just considered reasonable by the public opinion? Well if those movements are being funded by tax money, and are not doing any revolutionary changes in the system then they should indeed be removed. We feminists can go on strikes and use social media to educate people on feminism, we don't need to waste tax money that could surely be redirected into building new schools, bettering the health care system, supporting new infrastructures that would increase the economic value of some districts. Not to mention that all that money could be used to rise the pensions for the elderly and just overall better the living conditions in rural areas of South Korea. All those are wiser ways to distribute the tax money other than funding a social movement. And I'm talking from my experience living in a European country as well.
@skaicachapero1448
@skaicachapero1448 3 жыл бұрын
@@chaizan9733 This is such a bad take. We can use these funding from tax as equity to help build equality for every area where women are left out from. Meaning ALL areas. This doesn’t take away from the importance of other issues, but money is needed to create a more equal society in a capitalist/world economy. The fact that there are fundings is an accomplishment in itself... it takes the right people to use it towards creating real change and advocacy. Which means the general public, or feminists, should continue to push for change and most importantly pressure officials to use them in the right areas. It is never easy to do that especially in a society that is pretty conservative.

TS(hit) treated BAP so badly they weren't allowed to meet their families even if there was an emergency, they were forced to perform and leave hospital bed after having injury, bap members had to pay their own hospital bills and even pay for their flights. At one point Yongguk asked fans to stop buying their albums cuz it was only profiting the company. During their last year of contract Zelo was the first one to be free from that prison and he went to their concert (which was the next day of his concert expiration ig) to perform for his fans with his members as a free artist, after that it was Yongguk who was free and later the remaining members in 2018. BAP were concept kings they were great in everything, they could've been biggest K-pop group if only they won their lawsuit and weren't sent on long hiatus. They have said that they haven't disbanded (even though news articles say so but they have only left company and then they all had their enlistments) so most likely there will be collabs (Jongup already did one with Yongguk ) and probably reunion /comeback as whole. They're doing good individually tho Himchan did get in scandal and as for others Zelo and Jongup recently came back with their solo, Yongguk is producing music, Youngjae is working in drama and Daehyun is in army rn.

I feel this feminst movement is probably due to a Long Oppressed feeling by females by a Maie chavuinst society of Korea, for decades, females faced lower salary then their male counterparts, they get fired from their jobs if they get pregant and take maternity leaves, some of them get asked by their superiors to do things like pouring them drinks or to go get a deal from a customer because the custome likes to be attended by a pretty lady. Also the past 2 years, incidents like males planting hidden camera in female toilets, the SNS messages of male celebs like JJY and others also irated females into thinking males are preverts and trash, and how males in power tend to bully females in lower positions like a director and a rookie actresses for example, and sometimes into sexual relationships. i am not saying females bullying males is correcr but maybe long periods of such feeling and the rise of the "WE dun need MALES to survive" is fueling the feminsm, and more and more females who step into the workforce and succeed are thinking i dun need to get married and be a guy's child bearing machine, when i can afford my own house, support myself. some kpop songs like Miss A's "I dont need a Man", or Ailee's "Dont Touch Me" are some examples that tell a man to back off, i dun need you, i think more and more ladies in power feel that they hate males and all mans are like wolves etc.

It's sad to see this whole misconception about feminism. Not only in South Korea, but around the globe. It's like a forbidden word and every time you say you are a feminist you have to explain that you're not a man hater. Why are we naming men that hate women as misogynists, but we do not call women that hate men misandrists. We call them feminists. It always baffles me. The words have the same etymology, they are practically mirroring each other. It's like someone actively tries to undermine the works and achievements of actual feminists. This whole misconceptions gives the ideea that feminism is a women's issue, not concerning men at all. "They are passive bystanders of women's attempts to gain more power than them in society." Which is not the case at all. It shouldn't be a competition, it should be a collaboration. An attempt to question the values that are dictated by patriarchy, which affect everyone, of all gender and sexes. Yes, even the men. The social system in place expects the men to be the main provider of the household, to show little emotions, to be physically strong etc. Men holding characteristics that are viewed as traditional feminine are stigmatized. We are ok with females dressing masculine, but we feel discomfort with males wearing dresses or using make-up. It is frown upon if men take paternity leave. Men have to be good at sports, they can't play "like a girl". Men are expected to pay for dates. In a patriarchal society sexual assault and domestic violence towards men are viewed as laughable. The system in place is not only restrictive towards women, but also to men. The end goal is not to replace the patriarchal society with one that is matriarchal. It is to create a society that is based on partnership, where all gender, sexes, races etc. have the same social, economic, and political rights. The word here is "choice". We should express our gender how we want, without having to suffer from social stigma. We should have the same opportunities for our career/life path, and not be criticized for some choices that are viewed as un-problematic for the other gender. Also, feminism does not criticizes women that want and chose to be stay-at-home moms, or couples that understand and consensually chose to engage in traditional roles, because it is what they like and what they want for themselves.

We tend to severly underestimate the inequality between men and women (and other sexual minorities) here is just a small example: Women don't get hired simply bc they have a longer pregnancy leave. A man can get married, have a kid, but chances are he will be back in 2-3 weeks tops. That's not the case for a woman. Employers think a woman will quit her job anyway after getting pregnant bc she has to take care of the baby plus her pregnancy leave has to be longer... So they prefer an employee they *think* they can keep for longer. So what's the solution? Giving the father and the mother equal time to spend with their newborn, demolishing one of the silent incentives companies have for hiring male workers and also acknowledging that men are humans with feelings and they become fathers just as much as women become mothers. They deserve that time too. But what will politicians tell you? That you need to work as much as a man does to get that position, when you just can't. Wheter it's education, opportunities or employment women are at a clear disadvantage at every step, so the solution can never be "less". No men should settle for this either, but they are encouraged to accept this instead of asking for more from policy makers. Sad.

I got into Kpop because of B.A.P. and I felt angry towards the company because they were supposed to be there to support their artists and didn't. I truly believe that if B.A.P. were at a different company, they would still be around. I'm still following the individual members' activities and I'm happy that they can continue, but also sad that they aren't as popular as they used to be.

BAP will always be super meaningful to me. When a friend introduced me to kpop she showed me Super Junior, Shinee, Girls Generation, Sistar and some others and the next day she links BAP Power and said "this is right up your alley" and I was so sold. It was the moment that truly made me kpop loyal and the song was a fresh release at the time as well. It was my first fresh kpop release song experience and it was unforgettable so I will never stop being upset that they couldn't shine brighter for longer. Their style and sound was so epic. I'm glad the company fell because they don't deserve to thrive.

There's a famous quote "when you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression" Obviously feminist movements are different depending on the country and culture but I feel like the backlash is always similar. In the US too, there are men who try to lump women who want equality in with radical feminists. And as for radical feminism, there is a disproportional outrage towards it compared to the outrage men who don't want equality receive. I'm a progressive/leftist Christian and in my own social circles, feminism is still considered bad. The misogynist Christian leaders will *say* that feminists *all* want superiority, but if you question them, they ultimately reveal that they think equality is bad too, that what they really want is for the social order to stay as it is, or even regress. I feel like SK is going through this movement as well, and I think as time goes on, it will be revealed that some of these politicians and media personalities don't want equality, and are masking it as concern for a "radical" movement. That's not to say that radical movements don't exist, but that they are smaller compared to the women who want equality, and that radicals are a perfect cover to deny equality too.

i think its Blind Package of JYP is different from crowd funding, it can only work when you developed a BRAND reputation that you can be trusted to deliver quality contents and ppl trust your next girl group will be a success as long as you are producing it, it like how some ppl trust a luxury Brand like Chanel or whatever that when they hear they have a new product upcoming they placed an order for it without looking at it, because they know and trust the brand. Just as some celebs in Korea have a phrase "Trust and Listen" like Taeyeon and IU for example, you dun even need to hear their new songs, just the fact they are going to release a new album, can make Pre-order hits new record already before anyone hears a teaser or see anything.
@hslpt3
@hslpt3 3 жыл бұрын
The thing is using 'brand reputation' argument only made their artistes sound like nothing more than manufactured products, nothing beyond it. of course, that's what idol industry is all about(but they don't need to say it out aloud) and with the recent kpop industry trying to push the image of idols as having more creative control etc., this is not aligned with that image kpop is trying to push, different idols at least would have different sounds and even talent levels even if they're from same agency so brand reputation is....kinda stupid. but...at the same time it will work. talents or qualities of the members or songs aside, JYP girlgroups are always popular with public so they had built this confidence...i guess this is where their brand reputation work....even with buying brands blindly, i find it stupid since even big brands would have bad designs...unless it's just buying for bragging rights, which i find cringe but i guess there are those people into it so yeah...still, this will work because even those who aren't interested would think of buying the album to make future profit, resell at higher price because it's 'limited edition'...not gonna lie now i feel tempted too but....nah...can't even afford to buy for all the groups i actually love. and if this marketing tactic is supported and worked....more agencies will follow trend in the future, this will be normalized, and there will be more possibilities for scam and qualities of groups/songs being downgraded because they're already sold anyway. JYP really ain't even hiding that they know they have company stans who would eat up whatever they serve, i guess the other big agencies will take serious note of this, since they too have those company stans(i mean, all agencies sort of have them, but the big ones have them in much bigger amounts naturally)
@lingth
@lingth 3 жыл бұрын
@@hslpt3 it depends on your point, in the western "world" (not sure if its the right word), artistes like Rihana or Ariel, they are not manufactured or groomed, Rather than saying the agency Built them, its more like "I am talented and the agency is just supporting my career", hence there is less of a "DEBT between them and the agency" rather the agency is like a caretaker for them, providing them with manager,stylist and such.. support staff. which is why the STAR is the Person in Power, the managers are afraid of the star or listen to his/her bidding.. in Korea, the agency is more like a Insitution of Learning and School, they take in YOUNG, "sprouts" if you call it.. or unpolished gems, spend money on them to train them in vocals, dance, rap, foreign language, and acting even.. with each "course" they learn, their "contract" or debt.. INCREASES,.. a trainee can cost the agency $250,000 or more to groom.. which is why the agency is very strict and treats the trainees like their (in a negative term).. Farm animals? Pets? or Products? if they think the farm animals are not good enough, they CUT losses and kick them out before they waste too much time adn money on them. when the "products" debut, they have a limited time of 7 years to get back their capital sum, usually good agency can re-cope their capital in the first 2 or 3 years, which is why most idol groups have strict rules in the first 2 years or 3 years with little rest or vacations. After the agency turns profitable, they relax a bit and listen to the artise more, which is when the artiste's ROLE start to see a slight REVERSAL, where the agency takes in their ideas, the rules like no phones, or no going out, etc is relaxed after the 3rd or 4th year. (most of the time), for agencies where the group never makes a profit, like Fiestar, even at the 5th year or so, the members are still repaying the debt from debut. SM was probably one of the pioneer agency to follow a system to "manufacture" star or idols. from the trainees training to what they will wear, what their hair will be like, the trainees had no say in the early years, as they are nothing more than the agency's products, until the debt is paid and the ROLE is reversed, like in BoA or senior artistes then the agency LISTEN and let your DECISION take into priority. in Short, agencies like JYP, YG, SM and now maybe Big Hit have so much star power that they can annouce a "NEW upcoming boy or girl group", and you can see FANDOMS for them, when no one knows whose inside the group and what is the debut song or concept.. its like TAKE my Money, even though i dunnno what i am getting but if its YG it has to be GOOD. like their upcoming rumored girl group BABY MONSTERS, i am not surprised if there are more than 200k ppl willingly to drop money to buy their debut album without even know how big the group is or who is inside.

I love K-pop and support these incredibly talented artists but the industry and society of (sometimes violently) anti-female sentiment within the Idol system is horrifying as a foreigner. No wonder so many of these artists are utterly miserable because everything that they do is minutely scrutinised and used maliciously as a weapon against them. Adding a negative interpretation to something that has already been cleared up as innocent is just unnecessarily hurtful. Shame on you.

Unfair events towards groups, individuals and conditions, frequent car accidents, girls passing out on stage. The Hallyu Wave went under. K-drama and International content creators carried the wave. K-pop was riding the flat line. K-pop groups were already going under from pruning for younger versions. But even more groups went under, new groups never debuted when i-fans 1M strong ghosted the industry...until BTS.

I'm not really a feminist but for me isn't it just like better treatment not as in treating people nicer but as in equal opportunity. Like not looking down on a woman and thinking she can't handle stress...etc. Of course there are limitations specially when it comes to physical strength but it's basically judging people by their capabilities not their gender. I think is probably also about female independence as opposed to be taken care of so like taking charge of your life and having the choice to do as you wish. At least that is what I always thought. Because even though I don't identify as a feminist problems like what is expected of me, how I'm treated and seen as a female really do affect me in my life.

It is not reverse discrimination if the equal rights of women have been oppressed. Just look at the number of women in middle to upper management positions, the wage discrepancy, the number of women in elected positions in all levels of government and so on. It irks me when men complain that feminists are overdoing it. However, demeaning men in the way men have traditionally demeaned women is not right. Check your assumptions, check your unconscious biases. Conservative patriarchal societies will of course be threatened by any challenge. Now, men are over-reacting.
