A very unique radio with some truly interesting circuitry---great video, I enjoyed this series a lot

Great to see you back working on Stuff. Great place you guys have there. Thanks for the videos. Carl

A most interesting Re-gen receiver. Oddball tubes. Most likely many users set it up to their favorite station and left it there since it is so fiddle-ee to tune in.

Bob, It's awesome to be able to watch new stuff from you! I really like your new dog. Looks like you get your walking exercise in. This is one of the most fascinating radios I've seen anyone do. I'm glad that it was you who was working on it. Your attention to detail and desire to keep it historical are things I greatly admire. It did give me the creeps to see that infamous logo all over everything. I'm glad that you're back, sir! Cheers! Michael

Greetings! Yes, getting more exercise, but I must admit as the weather has gotten colder, the walks have gotten shorter ;) That was a strange radio to work on alright. I'd heard about them for years but never saw in person before. Gave me the creeps too and not something I'd really want in my personal collection. Take care and Merry Christmas! Bob

That's the first one of those I ever seen working!

Great job! I'd be leery of working on this set, as I understand that some of the components are embedded in a composite and may not be easy to work on. My Tesla has the voltage divider adjustable power supply like your radio. Had to unwind it and place a high wattage resistor across two of the voltage divider resistor connection points. Thanks. Not is this model luckily. It is made from cheap material and a little fragile but all the resistors and capacitors were pretty easy to get at.

It did end up looking very nice, good work as always.

Definitely seems best suited to voice rather than music.

Heya! Now this is from a few years ago so I dont know if you are reading comments. I have a DKE 38 too, that was passed down to me. I know very little about radios, is this something you could help me with? Thanks!

crude, but a fine showpiece, and very historic

Great job on the radio. On the dropping resistor, you could have possibly used a band from an Ohmite 25 watt adjustable resistor,

Thought that would be a one station.radio sounds like a Regen.mad man muntz would have liked the gutless wonder circuits😁

Can you solder that clamp together on the resistor? Or use some copper clamps from home depot in the plumbing dept.....I guess a rheostat wouldn't work...
@Thermionman6 жыл бұрын
Neat.....very interesting about the B+
@OlegKostoglatov7 жыл бұрын
One way that you could get the higher B+ voltage is to copy the power supply design from a Motorola VT-71 chassis and build a voltage doubler using silicon diodes, that would get the B+ up to 180 volts at least, and it's not as intrusive as a transformer. With regard to the 110 volt setting that may have been to accommodate areas with DC power service, I don't know what areas had 150 volt power service but some old British sets have the same.

Got to get a classic V.W. now.

Lookin' good. Proper grounding will likely help a lot. Not sure if you are a HAM, but you should be :p

i belive 150v AC or DC was used in some parts of italy until the 1960s or 1970s
@deadfreightwest59567 жыл бұрын
Could you put a 120v to 240v step-up transformer on the chassis, maybe where the old electrolytic cap clamp is, thus providing the necessary B+ voltage while preserving the convenience of the 120V plug?
@bandersentv7 жыл бұрын
Sure, but this thing is fragile plus I don't think the owner wants any major modifications.

I have a 110 to 220v plug in transformer I want to use with this...

Nice and shiny!

Use silver solder to connect the two halves of the clamp back together.
@OlegKostoglatov7 жыл бұрын
He could probably make one, or borrow one from another resistor too.
@jameslucas65897 жыл бұрын
OlegKostoglatov Agreed. I bought many years ago, a Roper Whitney hand punch for metal.punch and dies range from about 1/16- 1/4”. I also got a bench-top riveter fro replacing tube socket rivets so they look factory.

Sooo...for showing us the "bad bird", did the video get demonetized?
@bandersentv7 жыл бұрын
It did have a yellow flag for a while. Never saw that before but apparently it means that it is not suitable for most advertisers. However, when I checked today, it's back to green. No idea why.
@Delatsch6 жыл бұрын
It seems that youtube randomly flags the videos for no reason, it happend a couple of days ago on one of my videos. But when I pressed the "manually review" button, the next day I went back to green. Hope it will not become a standard practice.

These are hard to find here in Germany. The Germans are so anal about the nazi logo most have been destroyed. I only know of two people who have the complete radio working logo and all
