The most egregious thing was for the carts not to be opened and cleaned. Literally takes only a minute. If dk oldies was serious about refurbishing, they would place their sticker on the inside of the console with the date it was refurbished!

I’m very glad TronicsFix did this video to be honest. I’ve been a follower and supported for about a year and a half now, so it’s good to see a point of view from a KZbinr I know to film repairs and refurbishments. I discovered JacobR and ReviewTechUSA by searching for people looking to expose DKOldies, no disrespect to those KZbinrs at all. I love their content now too. TronixFix is a respectable technician with lot's of followers on KZbin. He always do something crazy like buying broken consoles and trying to fix them on his channel to showcase his skills. He was planning to buy a console from DKOldies because it was requested by his followers and he already expected that he will be the one doing the actual refurbishing.

The saddest thing about it is a NES would take all of 30 minutes to fully refurbish, it's very simple tech and easy to get into as well. An xbox360 or xbox One is much more difficult to clean. DKOldies is as bad as the game rating company that owns part of the auction that jacks up the prices of it's rated games, they are both scams and both getting rich off of their lack of ethics. It's sad.

A couple of comments on TronicsFix's video said that the missing screws were for a shield that was also missing, and I definitely believe that's the case. Wouldn't be surprised if DKOldies flat out didn't know that.

@@SpursBackOnTop Mostly nostalgia, the DSi XL was the model I grew up with when my brother bought one for me. As a little update I actually ended up getting a "New" 3DS XL shortly after getting the DSI XL and passed the DSi down to my nephew for Christmas after modding them both so he can enjoy some gaming history. I still have the 3DS and my nephew's been taking real good care of the DSI. 😊 I might collect some other DS models like the lite later down the line but for now, I'm all set.

I used to work for a cable company and we always had problems with roaches inside of the cable boxes and modems because they were attracted to the heat. If we had to change out someone's equipment, the old equipment would have to go in our vans which resulted in the vans becoming infested. Changing out the roach traps in our vans became a weekly chore

I was laughing at watching a recent DkOldies video ( from their KZbin) because they chose to ship a PS2 order. The message was sweet. It was a wife buying a console for her husband who had his stolen when he was young, but the console Joey was wrapping when shown in a side view was pretty well damaged ( in my opinion). Here in my neck of the woods there are many NES's in pawnshops and thrift shops and they sell from $20-80 bucks with the og controller. Games are more valuable than the console

Man you have no idea. I work on motherboards for a living in a phone repairshop, i mainly do the boards in iphones and samsung phones, but I do game consoles on the side. THE AMOUNT, of ps4s that I get in that are infested is insane. We have a "Cleaning Fee" that is incurred if it is infested with bugs. Its so akward telling customers but sometimes it is dangerous having the console in the store because once you open that nest. They go EVERYWHERE.

I bought 2 NES controllers for $5 each & I cleaned them & put newrubbers in them for $5 each. So I did it myself better for $10 each controller. I fixed a SNES too for about $140. The cables & controllers aren't original , but will get the OEM cables now since it works.

If I were a business owner, and I was getting massive amounts of social media flak for misrepresentation of my product, the VERY FIRST THING I would do is make sure that each and every item going out had been personally inspected by myself until I could trust that the items going out where in the condition my advertisements stated they were in. Anyone else notice the dpad shift when he angled the controller, as if it was loose.. When i was a kid even after years of use my original pads never did that. The Lockout chip not only prevented unofficial carts from working, it prevented very much official games from other regions from working.

That’s an absolutely ludicrous price for a NES, even with a Zapper and games. They should be ashamed. The thing that truly makes this schmuck bait is that they’re selling this with a converter so you can plug it into an HDTV, which means the Zapper won’t work since you can’t use a zapper with anything other than a CRT TV/monitor. Completely defeats the point of buying this bundle.

why not scam the scammers. you can easily buy those stickers premade online. order quite a few things and one by one take some hardware out from them and build yourself a console while returning it back to them stating it doesn't work. in the end you gotta free console and they get what they deserve. not that i condone stealing which i dont. but i am all about the good ole saying "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" anyways just my JaysTwoCents here lol

I've noticed their recent shorts attempt to make it look like they actually disassemble their products and apply proper refurbishing to said items. However, I don't think that's the case. Numerous people have claimed the guy in the shorts knows next to nothing about video games, while i'm sure the staff know enough to properly refurbish 30 year old technology, I've heard they actually don't condone it. It's unfortunate that their prices are so high, that they typically turn people away, people like me - who are interested in purchasing retro consoles, but not for their price. Granted, the prices on everything ps2 and after are about normal, I'm not going to drop 300$ on a SNES that comes with Super Mario World, when I own a Switch, and can play it for free.

I just bought a used 15 year old computer, which was sold as "boots to BIOS, no further testing" for $50 (including shipping,) and they had cleaned all of the dust out of it thoroughly and even put new thermal paste on the CPU. I thought to myself that they did more on a used untested $50 pc than these people do on their overpriced "refurbished" consoles.

ACTUALLY the number of screws in modern smart phones is specifically to stop people from trying to get their device repaired at a third party. Apple has done this for a while. Idk about older systems but just because now a days something has a lot of screws doesn't mean it needs it.

Sad part is you can actually order the exact OEM replacement screws for the NES on the cheap cheap 🤦‍♂️
