In this clip, DL Hughley talked about the late comedian Robin Harris being the comic he’s ever seen, which is high praise coming from someone with DL’s talent and acumen when talking comedy. He did mention that Robin hated him due to his close friendship with TK Kirkland. DL then went into a whole rundown of things that went awry because of his association with TK, but why he saw past much of that and is happy he’s getting his flowers these days.

I never got a chance to watch a lot of Robin Harris, but from what I've seen, he's the type that'll just light you up with joke after joke after joke after joke, and you have two choices of 1) taking a swing & ending your career, or 2) eat those jokes & cry later in the bathroom. Seems like a lot of comics did #2 because they're afraid #1 would come to life. He was a special guy. RIP Robin Harris. Still loved him in House Party.

DL is telling FACTS!! Back in 1988-89 when the "Comedy Act Theater" was booming and Robin was holding court, TK Kirkland was a known joke thief!! That's why Robin couldn't stand him. And TK was an Ass Kisser. He would be like a groupie with anyone who was famous or popular. That's why he is cool with John Salley. Didn't anyone in the comedy game really like TK back then and yes, it was Comedy factions. And DL is right, to see TK now , he is totally different. I do remember DL using some of Robin's jokes during the Kings of Comedy Tour. My mom bought the VHS when it came out and I recognized some of the jokes from Robin's HBO One Night Stand special. The joke about little kids staying up when a man wants to get it on with their mom. 'Kids drinking coffee, etc.' He also pulled 'a Robin' towards the end of his set by roasting the audience. Now, I'm not saying that's 'stealing' it's just I noticed he decided to add a tactic from Robin's style to his own set and it worked. Some people I noticed didn't laugh during DL's set, but once he started roasting them they couldn't help but laugh.

Just because Pryor and Eddie had huge crossover success doesn’t mean they are the best. They are legends, but that doesn’t mean that how DL defines “the best” isn’t valid for him
