Here’s the thing about the whole issue of Trump refusing to rent to Black tenants that everyone overlooked when they brought it up against him. He also clearly mentioned that, at the time, everyone in the business was doing it, including other Black landlords. He highlighted that it was general practice in the industry, coupled with blockbusting. While he wasn’t morally right to follow the trend, I think his exposure of a deeper systemic issue among business oligarchs across the industry was actually more valuable, given that he spoke about it on a national stage. Many of those other landlords who were refusing to rent to Black people were, in fact, prominent members of the Democratic Party, so-called “progressives,” but they’ll never admit it.

Of the properties, 4.5% were rented by black people keep in mind black people make up a small percent of the population in US . Also one of the buildings managed by the trumps had 40% black tenants. So the idea that trump didn't rent to black people cause of their race sounds ridiculous. There is actually no evidence trump carried out discriminatory policies. Back to the lawsuit trumps claim is that some people weren't accepted because of being low income which is a common practice in real estate nothing to do with race .Black people do make up a high % of people of low income but there is no real evidence or anything that can be proven that trump didnt rent due to race. The lawsuit settled with no admission of guilt . So yes since there is no real proof of discrimination the claim here is a completely baseless political point with no real concrete evidence
