Bought my DX-60B 2 weeks ago. This video explains a very strange mod that was done to the front panel. A push to talk switch and a red light next to the meter. No wires connected to anything. I'm guess they never finished the project. Thanks for the video, now I know. 73 N3PZZ

Hi I am glad you are preserving the CW function on this classic Heathkit. I'm new to CW and really enjoying every minute. The CW community is great, warm, committed, generous, and interesting. And needless to say, a lot of fun. It represents the best of amateur radio and I encourage every "no coder" who is fed up with the bad actors to learn CW and get on the air.

I agree, Have my General ticket, did the 13wpm test, still love CW, especially on tube rigs

OK I have been subscribed for two bottles of wine and I to have say, You have made a lot of the confusion go away. After binging on this channel for days I definitely understand much about all that is going on in tube machines. Cheers!🍷

usually the sleeve is mic element, tip is ptt, on most rigs using 1/4" jack.

I could swear you used to use a Beckman 310. Now a Wavetek? Bet Shortwave Girl 'borrowed' the DMM. Curious if you use Eagle or KiCAD. I switched to KiCAD and never looked back. Nice boards. Please engineer a PTT switch for my HW-7

@ 02:07 you said, "And she's modulating." What did you mean by that?

I just watch these videos cause I love old tube stuff :). But Its a shame that your boards wires not to be mean but your wiring job of this board is actually MUCH more sloppy looking then the job the owner did when he built this. Maybe could figure out some way for this install to look more tidy when installed? Also you did not say how you attached your board . Double stick tape? Epoxy? How do these old point to point systems end up so clean sounding? I would think with all that un shielded wire that there would be lots of power noise from all that high voltage .

Hi Jennifer, This board is switching 120VAC and approx _60vdc. It is not in a audio circuit. There is no effect related to noise as this is a Ham radio transmitter, not an audio amplifier. Wiring can be tidied up with a few zip ties. The intent is a easy to install module, no drilling required.

@@d-labelectronics I love watching your videos :). I was unsure about any noise being added but was shocked that the basic old school point to point method in general I am shocked has always been so good lol. You would think all that non shielded wire and such would be nasty lol. I assumed you used the same double stick tape on this as the other video? Its so cool you keep all this vintage gear working . I was really only being picky if I spent all that time building something that complicated id probably run the wires along side the old wires somehow like you said maybe with zip ties or something . Hey i'm a woman I like things tidy lol.
