So many unanswered questions. Will Kristen ever go on a date with Brian? How do I convert a provisional member into full membership privileges? Does Douglas ever receive medication? How do I reverse log a video returned after Saturday Midnight? Did they find the bodies in 60s Movies Buff's basement?

Look at who they have in their training videos.... teenagers. Minimum wage in the 80s and 90s was not meant to be for adults, but as entry level positions teenagers can do around school. It’s messed up and sad how many adults work low level minimum wage jobs.

Damn skippy! Every suggestion I gave that might have "enabled" customers in any way was shot down in flames fast. They did not want competent shoppers who only needed a rare foreign film...They wanted high-fructose laden zombies with a penchant for playing Nintendo while watching Dorf Does Golf videos. If you were loaded down with three screaming kids all wanting Disney flicks, you were marked at the front door like meat!

Thats just corporate America in general. I worked at Sun Tan City one summer in college for three days, and they expected me to sell everyone a package some tanning lotion, some moisturizing lotion, some bronzer, an upgraded package, a gift card, and cheap eye wear, every single time they came in. We had a couple whose skin looked like leather and my manager would try to upgrade them to a higher wattage bed for that extra 20 dollars.

Eventually, This blockbuster was found to have a severe amount of lead in the store's paint. This caused several employees to hallucinate and in one case a customer, Douglas, who suffered brain damage. A lawsuit was settled in 2002 and the area was demolished, The only remnant now is rubble and a single VHS of Jungle 2 Jungle which was ordered but never picked up.

okay, the end put it together. Buster is the ghost of a store manager that died on duty in the mid 80s. His last words as he clenched his chest and fell to the floor: "UPSELL! UPSELL!! UPSELL!!!" Since then: he appears only making himself perceivable to store employees, and he made himself into this Buster character to not scare them with the gruesome truth of his origin.

Did he say Marge Simpson? Buster mocking the hell out of the nerdy kid was *real* classy. Nice to think of your customers like that behind their backs and shows that all the "help" he's suggesting is 100% just about fleecing them in the short-term and not making them like your store/company enough to keep coming back. And wait... if she comes in more often, she'll still pay more than what her controlling husband restricts her to! And she paid MORE than $10 this trip! WTF?

Given when this training video came out and accounting for lead time for filming it etc... it may have been just before the Simpsons existed (or they were just obscure from the Tracy Ullman show) so funny enough that might have just been a funny coincidence. Kinda like how the protagonist of the movie Troll is named Harry Potter.
@dontrockwobble
@dontrockwobble 2 жыл бұрын
@@ironwolf56 It definitely is from 1990, you can cross-check the movies listed behind her ("Tremors" for example). The Simpsons debuted as a full series in fall 1989 and was a huge hit when this was filmed, making the Marge Simpsons reference a bit odd as the woman was nothing at all like cartoon Marge, and her son even less like Bart. It makes no sense. And yet I'm pretty sure we've all thought about this far more than the brain trust that created the video.
