Watching anime isn't the problem. However, if we allow it take over our lives and be drawn into its mythology to the point were it becomes an idol, then that's when we need to break away from its overwhelming influence upon our daily life.

@@jonnstewart2023 well it’s their children, as long as they live under the parents roof the parents have authority. If they don’t allow their kids to watch anime, then that’s their decision as a parent. I think there’s a certain age where you can let them make their own decisions and use their own discernment, for me that would be by high school (15-16 years old). That could be different for different parents. I am careful about what I watch, but for me personally I watch certain anime for the stories but I don’t let it consume my life or come before God. It’s more of a temptation for other people, and I respect the decision to avoid it.

As a Christian I quit watching a lot of anime because demons,magic,sorcery, and adult themes are very common in a lot of animes. Just like any show we have to use holy discernment it’s rare to find animes that don’t feature these themes but there are some that don’t.

I used to watch anime alot, in fact I was calling myself weeb, I used to play lots of videogames that will take my mind and heart. When my relationship with Christ became closer, I started to shift gradually from does things, until eventually I stopped watching anime and barely play videogames. When I realise that I remembered when I said to myself "I will never stop watching anime". God is not aggainst you by watching, but He wants to spend time with you and He also wants you to be careful and mindful of what you watch! I actually grew up watching Sailor Moon and other series. Probably more than I care to admit. After I became born again and God drew me back to Him, I realized how much it took up my life over the years, and it all felt like a huge distraction and a waste of time. Anime could be used as a tool to reach the lost, though, in my opinion. Watching anime in my youth also got me into studying Japanese, so that experience wasn't all bad, I guess. I even lived in Japan for a couple years but have now been living in Korea for the past decade. So there was a purpose to it and it was in God's plan for me to get me to Asia, it seems. Anyway, we are in the world, but not of the world. If we have much more passion for things like anime than we do for Jesus, perhaps we should examine our lives and ask the Spirit of God to lead us. Remember that the devil loves it when we are distracted.

I started with Sailor Moon as well and I became addicted to everything that was unholy honestly. It has affected me so much I didn't sleep or eat and I was aggressive and unreasonable and when I was told to throw all my art and manga away I struggled and even blamed God but I think it's better not to watch it at all honestly but it's something I still struggle with, especially playing anime games

An interesting one that I watched that I was not really into at first was Angel Beats... The story itself is about Kids that recently died and are basically in purgatory, unable to fully pass on to the next life. The main Protagonist is an "angel" that everyone thinks is trying to destroy them, yet is invincible in the story. The takeaway I got at the Very End of the story was, WE as Christians are Called to help people Find God, Find Jesus and It is a dangerous and beautiful Job to help others who are Very different from us Find completeness in Christ. Great topic, Daniel. I've primarily only watched Miyazaki's films myself (Studio Ghibli) but have already been mindful of the spiritual elements. Even Avatar: The Last Air Bender was extremely focused around chakras and energy and I have noted that even though it's a really fun show, my kids won't be watching it at least until they're quite old enough to understand the dangers of what is practiced in real life. I've also been painfully aware of how much is se×u@lized in anime, and recognize how easily it could become a stumbling block to young people who are not aware, as they explore more shows and Manga. Really appreciate your discussion on this since some parents don't know what might be in these stories!

i’m a christian but i would say that anime has helped me become a better person overall. naruto especially, it actually changed my life in a way. the theme throughout of never giving up inspired me to be more persistent in pursuing a relationship with God, which is something i’ve always struggled with. anime has never taken me away from God, it has never negatively affected me, honestly all that’s come from it are good things. i know it’s fiction and i don’t make it a priority, yet at the same time i’ve learned to take all the good things and apply them to my life. my favorite character actually did a lot in helping me find my way back to God after walking away from him. i was also able to grow closer to many people thanks to anime. i believe that it can be a gift from God if you watch the right ones and take the right meanings out of them.

Hi, Daniel! I really appreciate that you talked about this topic and how wise you have been. Man, I just remember that in my childhood and teenage years, my mum used to say: "don't watch Thundercats, He-man, Pokemon, etc... because they're demonic. Period." I used to go to church by commitment back then, but I didn't have a relationship with Jesus. Even I felt curious about why my mum was forbidding those cool series and my friends were talking awesome stuff about them. Then, when I was 16, I watched Sakura Card Captors, really cute style of cartoon, but it had witchcraft stuff (and I didn't care). After that, I decided to meet and give my life to Jesus when I was 20, now I'm 36, and I tend to check out the sinopsis about anything first, because I know my heart & mind can be affected... the thing is I watched a new Sakura episode and my heart felt uncomfortable because now I know who God is. I even used to watch horror movies or gore in my teenage years. My friends (non Christian) still watch them and they even invite me, but I have to filter what to watch with them or reject the invitation... In other words, we must prioritize God above anything else. It's okay to be open-minded, but careful. We live in this world, but we don't belong to it. Blessings. ❤️‍🔥

I just rewatched Naruto, the part 1, and while the first time I wasn't sensitive to the demonic elements included in it, the 2nd time I watched it, which was quite really recent, I could see those elements clearly. I was glued to it and nearly watched it to the last episode but God helped me tear away from it and He still is. Naruto has a lot of life lessons to help shape character but the demonism involved in it is far too much and too deep. This should be a call to we Christians to invest more of our resources to the entertainment industry because most of our movies and cartoons are still substandard in a lot of ways! I just dislike it when some Christians generalize all anime as being bad. The same goes with some beliefs or religion. As with everything there is something to learn from. The different religions in anime well it’s because anime is made from Japan, Shintoism and Buddhism is their belief and it is not intentionally in anime for evil purposes. If you are born in a culture with that belief and you make a story 7 times out of 10 that belief will be there consciously or unconsciously. It makes it sound like anything foreign to westerners is bad. As a minority it gives off a slight racist holier than thou attitude. No offense. That attitude is really what makes many not think good things about plenty of self acclaimed Christians. Just putting this out there. Part in life is to understand differences in perspective. Discern based on quality not quantity according to the moral standards you believe in. God bless

Let’s say your going to a club your surrounding yourself with those bad influences and it slowly changes your mind and way of thinking so if you watch anime that talks about devils and other stuff it’s slowly getting u used to the fact that devils demons and evil is normal and slowly you start to accept it. Watching anime is not a sin. The context of anime can have anti-christian elements depending on what you're watching, but it all comes down to how you let it influence you. I have been watching anime since I was a young teenager, but it hasn't consumed my life. Why would it? No one depends on anime anymore than I depend for my shirt to be blue today. lol Enjoying an artful story is not the same as a life dependency, and God isn't going to say you sinned against him for exercising your imagination on a fantasy world. More so... and the most important point here, is that we are not saved by anything but repentance and rebirth into faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and his sacrifice. God's Word states our salvation is a gift and cannot be achieved by any other means but through the narrow path, which is faith in Jesus alone and not of our works so that no one can boast. Also, the context in which your beliefs reside could use some deeper attention to the verses they come from and the conditions of that point in time. But more so, pay closer attention to what God has told us so that the world itself and what others believe do not corrupt the very Word of God you hold in your hands. Misunderstanding it is how you build a false faith in fear and/or hate. If you have any trouble understanding that, God also told you that he did not give us the spirit of fear. If you fear the 'influence' of the things of this world, like an artform such as anime, it sounds like Satan is winning in your mind. Those feelings are not from God, and Satan is the father of all lies. He knows God's Word better than anyone, so why wouldn't he be able to find ways to twist it in his favor against you? If you want to preach being vigilant, start there.

But i was thinking about something: 1 Thessalonians 5:21(I'm Brazilian so the verses can be a little different) says that we must "test all things and keep what is good. Thinking about that i thought: Is anime always GOOD? I mean, the Text says to keep the good things, not the neutral ones. And off the top of my head I can think of 1 or 2 animes that don't have some kind of bad concept. In fact, it's hard to find something REALLY neutral on this world. But what i want to say is: Is all those things really necessary? Not just the anime, but movies, series, tv shows... The one BIGGEST thing anyone should consider when consuming any type of content, be it anime, books, manga, music, movies, etc, is what the author is actually trying to convey through the story Vinland Saga for example is an extremely violent anime about vikings, revenge and all. If we look at the front side only, it's something Christians might be expected to stay away from. However, further ahead in the story (SPOILER WARNING HERE)... We eventually learn that Vinland Saga is actually a story about redemption and forgiveness. There is even teachings of Jesus being taught in this story. And the author uses this to teach others that it is never too late to change, yeah, that as long as you're still alive, you can still change and help the world become a better place. Yet, just like Jesus was persecuted for being righteous, Vinland Saga also displays this reality and shows that a lot of struggles will come from seeking righteousness, but it also teaches about how there is value about being righteous even though the whole world around you is wicked and actively trying to destroy you Ofc, Vinland Saga is only one of the anime I know displays things people should learn more about. A KZbin comment section wouldn't be enough to explain about the so many anime that teach a lot of things. Lastly, what I would like to add is that a lot of people misunderstand storytelling. The ones who write stories are only human, so it's obvious that there will be flaws with stories, similar to how every single person watching this video will have sinned and thus has flaws. If a small percentage of flaws in a story is able to have more of an impact on you than the majority of its good teachings, then the individual in this case has to work towards being able to tell from good advice and bad advice. For example, if the author of a work himself came to you and gave you advice, then you can't ignore him like you could ignore a book and not read it. In this case, you'd have to try to find out whether his advice is good or bad, and if it's good, then you can apply it to your life. Well, the same applies to whatever you see or hear. I mean even people from other religions will give advice from their own religions when speaking to you, so it's not that different if it's done from other forms of storytelling. Therefore, the key is to try and observe what is being conveyed to you and see whether or not it would be good to apply that to your life or not

Well, SPOILER WARNING HERE: In the manga, Thorfinn actually lives in a play a role where he seeks peace and forgiveness. Canute on the other hand, kinda became evil. There was even a Bible quote at some point in the manga to put emphasis onto the kind of person Thorfinn was becoming. Thus, proving that even the worst person can change for the better and even the most docile person can become wicked. Vinland doesn't mock Christian values, on the contrary, it preaches them. It's just that vikings at the time did stuffs like what they did to that priest, so being a kinda historical show, the author just displayed that, but all around the world, there are still Christians being persecuted, so it's actually quite a realistic thing the author included here

Hey Daniel, thank you for sharing this video, I used to be a fan of anime, most particularly Dragon Ball Z, and it's been a while since I've watched that, but I realize through the verses mentioned here that I've been ignoring my conscience towards the Grand Theft Auto and Mortal Kombat series, something I've been a huge fan of since I was a kid, and it's been difficult to get rid of it from my hobbies and interests. Thank you Daniel for this. A lot of these things you tell me are things that my father has mentioned. He have warned me about Naruto and I didn't really like Naruto but I was obsessed with Sailor Moon (I didn't like the story but I actively wanted to write a story better than it) and as a result I was really drawn away from God. I wouldn't eat or sleep and I would feel tired in church and felt that God's word wasn't enough and that anime teachings were better than God. I even got into anime drawing and when I was told to throw it away and when I did I was angry at God but whatever I've been drawing and watching was unpleasing to God and I would get into yaoi and Yuri and BDSM thinking it was okay just to fit in and feel good about myself . You're right, anime can slowly influence you and as I drew away from anime I realized how absorbed we are in the things that are not real. Thank you for this . I'll be honest, as a christian and aspiring manga writer, this disturbed me, but after thinking about it, you're right, Daniel. Its the same with Marvel. I used to be a super fan of Marvel since the movies went out, both before and after conversion, however, ever since I saw the latest Thor: Love and Thunder Movie, I knew something wasn't right. Not only Gorr was a villain who slaughtered gods, his phrases and verbal attacks were of those like an atheist. Little did I know his creator in the comics is actually an atheist who was raised in a Southern Baptist Christian Family according to himself. I couldn't stand watching how Gorr blasphemed against God so I only saw the movie once and never again. I really doubt seeing Marvel movies anytime soon except for Spiderman maybe. As for anime, it was through this media that I started drawing closer to God and Jesus. I will be honest here, I have a lot of doubts about my salvation, specially for the sins I have committed recently, and though I repent, I keep falling short. During my stage as a Non-christian, I started watching animes like "A Silent Voice", "I want to eat your pancreas" (I know, the title makes it all weird, but its not what it seems but of a teenage girl who is about to die), Demon Slayer and so on. All this anime started make me think if really this life was everything, so after trying to search for the truth, I found it on Jesus. My love for Him back then was 100% legit, but now I feel so cold and even uncomfortable to get near to Him, which makes me doubt my conversion. Still, I receive word from the Bible and verses which are specific and speak of salvation and redemption having already occured, not as if they haven't, specially Isaiah 61:10. Still, I struggle and feel so cold towards God and Jesus and though I propose myself to seek for Him and spend time with Him it doesn't last long before I get distracted and do other stuff and then feel uncomfortable when trying to get closer to Him. Please, pray for me, for I'm a hypocrite and hate who I have becomed. I want to draw closer to God as when I wasn't a christian or even more and share of Jesus through manga.

God will certainly grant us discernment, but He will *not* protect us if we walk willingly into evil things. Extreme example but if we play with tarot cards or a Ouija board, nah, we are completely disobeying Him and we are playing with fire. If we watch something that could lead to temptation; idolatry, se×ual sins, practices of the occult; we are not listening to the Holy Spirit, sent by God to throw up red flags when we are putting our faith at risk. There *is* anime out there and regular movies and shows that are ok for mature Christians to watch, but much that should not be consumed at all.

What most people don’t understand is that shows and anime’s don’t always make you do bad things like lust and other stuff and you might actually believe it’s ok as long as you believe in god and don’t do those bad things but think of it like this. Let’s say your going to a club your surrounding yourself with those bad influences and it slowly changes your mind and way of thinking so if you watch anime that talks about devils and other stuff it’s slowly getting u used to the fact that devils demons and evil is normal and slowly you start to accept it. Then you allow that evil into your life and it controls the way you think and do it might seam harmless at first but remember the bible says The devil rules the whole world whitch is why every industry of movies shows will be influenced by him the devil would never miss a huge opportunity to control us in the slightest because he isn’t dumb he wasn’t the second angel worthy to sing to God for nothing maybe now he isn’t worthy but the only thing he does is manipulate so why would he miss this opportunity.

Im very into anime. Im a guy that you would consider as a typical weeb thats how hardcore i am with anime even as a christian. I watched tons of them on a daily basis as a kid and even as adult. Just 6 months ago for some reason anime isn’t something that I want anymore, I noticed that whenever i watch anime it made me more depressed and angry as if there’s something sinister going on in every show i watch. That’s where it clicked, animes have their own ideals and belief system that can influence a person’s mind. From my experience it messed me up big time, in my mind I knew that if I treat real life the same as if im in an anime world everything would be great, but the thing is anime and real life is completely different. That’s where I decided to stop watching and completely focused on Jesus instead to free me from anime addiction, even tho some of my favorite animes will have new seasons coming this year, I know that in my mind if I go watch anime again im just going to be a slave forever. My advice, its okay to watch anime, but don’t let it take control over you just make sure when you watch anime just watch it for the plot and nothing else.

I kept all the figurines and as I became a real Christian, no one told me to keep the figurines but I only have the wisdom from the Holy SPirit that I need to keep em or sell them. And i:m shocked that I no longer have the desire to buy more figurines which isn:t a problem for me anymore, I am glad ! I even hated God for a moment for letting me throw all these things away because He stated really clearly it was wrong of me to indulge and I also threw away my sketchbooks. Whereas Goku has very little to no pride and he always excels and always knows he needs his loved ones and as crazy as it seems Dragonball was one of the things that led me on a path to find God

When I hear people say it has no influence, it's just entertainment it doesn't matter what we watch, I want to shake them so hard. I went to art school and literally *everything* I learned is based on the reality that art has the power to shape the human mind, spirit and culture. God literally shares his creative ability every time we make something that never existed before. But in our fallen state we are either sourcing inspiration from God or the powers of darkness. With my artwork I can literally move souls... For Better or Worse. Anime takes full advantage of that and unfortunately a lot of times for darkness because they are mostly not a Christian culture. There are a lot of these shows I cannot watch anymore because they started bringing such a depression, darkness and addiction into my life. It drew me into a lot of escapism from trauma which blocked me from truly healing. It made me feel further from God rather than closer. Jesus said you would know people by their fruit and that includes the content that they create. Do you know how many anime creators are into pornography and even pedophilia? The creator of Rurouni Kenshin was arrested for the latter just a couple years ago. My hero academia, dragon ball, Naruto and a lot of other major titles are full of witchcraft, perversion and the pride of man wanting to become his own god. God is either ridiculed, challenged or left out all together. All of these worlds are worlds without God, to me that is depressing and empty because He has begun to fill so much more of my life. If you like these shows, don't take this as me condemning you but do be careful. Don't neglect your devotion time to God and growing in the Spirit and word of God everyday. The holy spirit will lead you. But I hope we can objectively agree that these things that God calls abomination, we should not take lightly if we have any love or respect for him.

As a child, I was always very allured and fascinated by all things related to fantasy. Anime was a big part of this fascination. Without thinking about it too much, I gravitated away from things of this nature as I have grown in Christ. Even with stories like Lord of the Rings, which I know is written with Christian values and archetypes deeply embedded in it. It's interesting because I find myself being pulled back to these things in a nostalgic sort of way, but I cannot reconcile or justify engaging in this sort of content anymore. It's like eating candy and feeling unfulfilled ultimately. Recently, my wife and I have exclusively watched biblical and Christian related content, or movies based upon true stories and we feel much more peace about spending our time in front of a screen. Other than that we usually watch educational content. Anyways, this video resonates with me because I feel a deep connection to anime for all the good things it brings, but conviction to not watch it for all the other reasons. As an ex Harry Potter/Dragonball z/anime/Disney fanatic, I am here to tell you that real life is much more magical and meaningful. Satan is trying to distract us with all these other psychological/emotional candies in the form of entertainment. Don't fall for it. Live life doing real things. Have hobbies. Go in nature. Start a family and take care of them. Seek God deeply in everything. I approach it by using something that Lewis said in his radio talks - "As an atheist I had to believe that all religions were completely bunk, but as a Christian I can admit that every religion has a kernel of truth, no matter how small." The good things found in anime are found there because they draw from the good aspects of life - the aspects that have their roots in God, but the bad things in anime are there because we live in a fallen world, and many of the good things in the world are pursued with selfish motives and through wrong means.

Appreciate your video! Another perspective though. Some Anime do display all of the things you mention. But how I see them are people using them not to try to get people to worship them but tell a story or a narrative. Most anime, a lot of Shonen deal with the hero fighting for others, defeating that main evil etc. As I watch certain anime i can see how these certain elements can be used to point to the Christian story. Even outside of that anime is relatable to most people because they display a lot of our human nature within those stories friendship, fighting for what’s right, sacrifice for your friends, but also the sinful tendencies that aren’t glorified but usually a downfall for the characters. Anime/manga come from a different culture and will have their cultural elements in it. But our bible also does the same thing. It shows the different elements of religion, sin, right, wrong from Gods perspective not as a license to do it but to drive the story to its main point which is Jesus who came to save sinners. Yes be cautious of what you watch. Listen to your conscience but if we’re casting anime off because it displays certain things we’re against then Christians shouldn’t do most things in the world. @@kofizayn6077 I think you can watch anime sometimes, but it still has bad things in anime that could bring you to sin, Christian or not, it is still a risk. Light and darkness do not mix. I’m not saying you should stop entirely, but as he said in the video, avoid content that is just plain wrong and use discernment, in this age there are many temptations and it is vital that we’re all in the word of God.

That was actually a very well thought out answer. There are certainly things in anime that are good, but, as someone who's watched a lot of it, there's more that's not good. Most anime centers around violence. And while there are times where it's good to fight, it probably isn't the best form of entertainment for a Christian. Furthermore, almost every anime has some sort of reference to reiki, spiritual energy manipulation. Anime is also very well known for its fanservice, which is basically soft-core porn. Pride is also very prevalent in many shows. A popular trope is the line "I'll never forgive you." Which is a very anti-Christian message. And, of course, the references to Shintoism and Buddhism, as well as uses of witchcraft. All valid points brought up in this video. What good there is in anime seems to be overshadowed by the bad. It's a shame because anime is some of the highest quality entertainment. The east really does go the extra mile for their animation departments. My question is this: What form of entertainment is acceptable for Christians? It seems like every genre of music that isn't Gospel, every TV show, every movie, every video game, every form of entertainment is, in some form or another, Satanic. Are Christians really only allowed to listen to Gospel music and read the Bible? Is that really all God considers acceptable for us to do in our free time on earth?

As a Christian of 17 years AND a lifelong anime fan I can genuinely tell you that anime as a whole is NOT evil or demonic. For instance one of my favorite anime of all time is named “Initial D” and it literally just about guys that race their modified cars up and down mountain roads. Little to zero violence, no cursing and definitely no demonic or evil themes. BUT on the other hand, and just like American cartoons such as the new Fox show “Little Demon” and live action shows/movies like “Lucifer,” anime DOES have a lot of very twisted, demonically themed shows that SHOULD be avoided! Demon Slayer, Devil Man, Chainsaw Man and many more are just over the top gory, violent, raunchy and simply demonic. As Christians we should use the Holy Spirit’s discernment to help us judge what we should and shouldn’t be watching regardless if it’s anime or not.

I just dislike it when some Christians generalize all anime as being bad. The same goes with some beliefs or religion. As with everything there is something to learn from. The different religions in anime well it’s because anime is made from Japan, Shintoism and Buddhism is their belief and it is not intentionally in anime for evil purposes. If you are born in a culture with that belief and you make a story 7 times out of 10 that belief will be there consciously or unconsciously. It makes it sound like anything foreign to westerners is bad. As a minority it gives off a slight racist holier than thou attitude. No offense. That attitude is really what makes many not think good things about plenty of self acclaimed Christians. Just putting this out there. Part in life is to understand differences in perspective. Discern based on quality not quantity according to the moral standards you believe in. God bless

Agree that we need to use discernment when watching such anime or any secular entertainment, even things with many good teachings can turn a person arrogant if there are also things in the media that doesn't co align with the word of the Lord, but like a guy once from the internet said "Anime is supposed to be a tool of bringing people together, not to tear anyone apart" most likely coming from a secular perspective. But there are things in anime that even incorporates Christianity such as the story of Saint Young Men (ofc it has some elements of Buddhism since Buddha is a charcater there but on how Jesus was portrayed in that show is pretty biblically accurate), or the quote of Edogawa Conan from Detective Conan "words are like swords, if you use them the wrong way then they can turn into ugly weapons" similar to the verse of Proverbs 12:18 or even of the soundtracks of Violet Evergaren "The Ultimate Price" labeled as anime music but also contemporary Christian probably referring to the crucifixtion of Jesus and because of the wrath of God that was poured down on Jesus just because of our iniquity and by the shedding of blood, we can be cleanse from all unrighteousness so that we may enter heaven, that's the ultimate price he give. Overall there are bad influnces in it like all secular media but there are also good things in it that we can use in our everyday life of being a servant of Christ, while anime can certainly draw people away from God, it could probably be also a tool that the Lord can use to bring people together and can even use it to make believers stronger in their faith in Christ if it makes them happy and learn a lot of good things from it. Similar in the case of mine with Violet Evergarden, it made me realize how much blessings I receive from God. Because of a well high quality animated show coming from Japan with a good story with it's center theme being love while also being so pure with it's story and soundtracks makes me thank God all the more for Him to give me intetests of things that are secular yet have many lessons we can learn from and even use it in our daily Christian lives.

I think we’re all on different paths and I for example just stopped listening to rap music because it promotes lust, violence, wickedness amongst other things. It was my number 1 priority to do if I get to watch TV, so much so, that I didn't really even pay attention to my surroundings. The Anime deceived me so much that I got caught in up the concept that I could preform magic or witchcraft. Each and every day for the past few years, I've always tried to perform magic... Something I wish I've never done. But each and every time I tried to preform, something in my heart was telling me to stop, but I never listened. I am a huge fan of anime/manga. I am an artist myself and really love the art of these works. But I am also a Christian, and I do agree that anime has both GOOD and BAD things (Just like any movie, videogame, novels, live action tv show, cartoons and so on.) Anime can have some interesting themes that aren't talked about that much which I think is good, but it can also get veery weird and bizarre. I have mixed feelings about this video. I am a Christian and study east Asian culture and religion. I don't think we should avoid something just because it comes from a culture or contains aspects of another religion. We as Christians shouldn't be living in echo chambers. We should definitely be learning and exposing ourselves to other cultures and religions so that we challenge ourselves and know how to connect with people who come from those religions and cultures so that we can better converse about Christianity. Buddhism and Shintoism are both syncretic religions, they're not looking to convert anyone to their side.

The issue isn’t that these religions are trying to convert people, it’s that the practices in these religions are rampant in anime and they can open people up to demonic oppression if they start adopting these practices just based on what they see in anime…but when it’s dressed up in great looking animation, it’s difficult to realize that. Those religions are dangerous and have nothing to do with Jesus and that’s the problem. Of course NO HATE against the people who practice it, but the entities that Eastern cultures serve is not Jesus Christ and that is the problem. Narrow is the gate that leads to life, wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction. Open yourself up to too much for too long and you become consumed and distracted.

But yes they do have Shinto themes like Inuyasha being a part dog Yokai however it’s not even a true demon. There’s other creatures like Kirins on the sequel. Its no different than Greek or Norse mythology with Thor and Loki who aren’t even human. With Inuyasha it’s not a satanic show. This is a topic that I have been wanting to hear from some one else. Because I don’t agree with anime being a part of my life. Because most of these shows have practices of some sort of magic that provides some sort of super power. Yet alone, they involve different gods. They pray to different gods. It then also becomes something that some people have the NEED to keep watching. It almost seems like the magic being practiced in these anime shows is enchanting people at the same time. Making it irresistible to stop watching. To me, I don’t care if they show honor, if they show respect and sacrifice, if it involves evil and magic, apart from that madness, I don’t want it around me. There’s enough evil in the world, why is it so amusing to watch even more of it in an anime show. There’s enough killing and witch craft in the world along with self sacrifice and people also being killed in forms of sacrifice, people being vengeful, why is it so amusing to see in an anime show. Most anime shows have pride in them. I don’t watch anime since I was really young. It’s been years since anime does not get my attention. Anime has been around me because of other people. But I just don’t like the negative energy I feel from most of them. The magic that is often shown in it is not appealing to me. The violence that is being shown, upsets me. The pride of some of the characters sicken me. It just does not sit well with me especially when I stand for God. A God that does not want magic, different gods, yet evil and violence either. Most of these shows portray everything but what God really wants from us. It’s an upsetting topic because people seem to get upset when you say you don’t like anime. People idolize these things so much that they even buy the collection of the characters. They have shelves of them and idolize them to the point where they don’t want them out of the box or to have a single spec or scratch on them, or they get absolutely upset. Because it is “limited edition” or whatever. That alone is already creating a false God. I might be wrong or maybe I over speculate things. But I’m trying to understand all aspects of things. The more I overlook certain things, the more I don’t like them. The more I grow apart from what most people like and watch. I try to let go of all these distractions and focus more on the actual world because this is real life and we have our real problems. I just look up from time to time and ask God to come sooner than later. Because nothing in this world amazes me, nothing of this world but the quality time of my loved ones and my connection with our Father is more important to me anymore. I’ve grown board of the ways the world is. Life could be better, but it is full of deceiving entertainment that really don’t teach anything truly good. I am unfortunately sick of this world and I might be wrong for the expression, but everyone wants to “be” with God, but can’t let go of the world. I have let go of the world and I keep having more and more less desires of the way life is. Again, I might be wrong, but most things that we have in the world, do not lead to God. 😪

This is a very good, and informative video. I do believe another thing that should matter is the intent of the things in questions. Like Naruto for example I really do love the series, not for those religious themes, but for what the real plot is, which is Naruto growing up with a goal and seeing other people with goals that are different but really in their suffering or motives those people are just like him and clashing on wether whose ideals are right. Themes like religious inserts, practices, like the chakra or the third eye aren't a focus or a something key to the story. I'm ok with this as the series isn't pushing me or influencing me, that these practices are necessary to gain some benefit in life. Full Metal Alchemist does this even better since it ends with the lesson that the magical power of alchemy is worthless as it causes all the major suffering the characters, and that by renouncing it, the main character can actually have what he always wanted. Alot of other shows aren't this generous and will try to shove you into a corner into believing occult practices and ungodly choices will benefit you. Dragon Ball does this a lot, from the symbolism of the dragon balls to even the concept of a super sayan, as an example. Be careful of what you watch.

First off. The magic are from fantasy worlds. Like think of the magic from the Lord of the rings. It's nothing satanic. It's pretty much just powers and abilities when you think of it. 2nd demon slayer and such is a good anime. It's literally about killing demons. But you also have to take into account influence as well. Some anime may lead you away from God.

In all the time I have watched anime it has never led me away from Christ, perhaps if I was watching the really bad ones it would but in general I tend to stick to normal anime and avoid the sexual and satanic ones and I know God will always be my creator and would never want to do magic or follow any other religion except Christianity.

Anime, I'm a Gundam fan. Long time ago my life was destroyed by gaming, I lost control, and was overly obsessed. I fell sick. The Lord punished me. The Lord picked me up from my mess. The Lord gives me a new life. He create in me a new heart. God bring in COVID, God further training me to trust him, to trust his sovereignty and grace. We were having Bible study after bible study, since I lost my job, I can attend many Bible study. God helps me to read his Holy Bible everyday without fail. He always speaks to me through his Words. Thank God for sending a more matured Christian brother, who is a full time preacher. God sent this brother as a minister of God to me. Through him teaching the bible study, I have grown. Getting closer to God. Life have changed, it becomes more challenging, mentally bodily spiritually. Faith is growing, yet not without trials and suffering and temptations. God, keep me to be abiding in you, LORD. "O come quickly, Lord Jesus" . Hallelujah. Amen.

I like anime but I would like it if there was an anime of the whole bible from genesis to Revelations divided by seasons because some people don't like to read so why not just show it, and I also think it lets christian entertainment to be represented a lot more on tv than secular stuff but that's just my opinion and my dream and hopefully some christian anime fans as well...

Thank you for covering this topic Daniel. During the pandemic I isolated myself from people. Anime was an escape for me at the time. But I’m ready to turn away from that and follow Jesus.
