27:30 The i7-3000 series CPUs for X79 are actually 2nd gen (Sandy Bridge) and the i7-4000 series is 3rd gen (Ivy Bridge). That was a confusing way to name the CPUs and nowadays there is some games that require AVX2 (first added on 4th gen) which won't run on X79 CPUs like the i7-4960X 6c/12t but do run on the cheaper and older* i7-4770K 4c/8t *The 4770K is based on a newer architecture but was released a few months before the 3rd gen 4960X
@brahtrumpwonbigly73097 күн бұрын
For those who use Adobe Lighthouse, they now require CPU with AVX2 support. Caused some ripples online as people are having to upgrade perfectly functional systems due to this. They don't even list that requirement online yet, for software that costs a monthly fee.

ive also learnt over the years that just cause it doesnt leak when the motherboard isnt powered on, doesnt mean it wont leak when its powered on and been running for a while, remember heat expands and creates more pressure in the loop.

I am running a an X79 board right now watching this. I have an air cooler on it with no problems. It has an LGA 2011 socket with a Xeon cpu. I would ditch the water cooling and go with a tower cooler. The X79 cooler blows upward and cools the power area top of the board. I got the cooler from aliexpress for about 10$ . I think the chip I am running is a e5 2650 v2 8 cores 16 threads. I have 32 gigs of ram.

invest in a air cooler? just keep stock and other random ones you have around, good enough to use for testing as long as they fit and you can always upgrade later for gaming builds and use the stock for cheap builds that won't demand better cooling

Twin D5 pumps is overkill, as is the 120mm Radiator on the rear, it already has a 360mm on the top so a second one is not required. That system could have been simplified and run just as well, if not better. Hard lines may look better, but I prefer soft lines so it's easier to work on.

the 4 PCI slots are very close together, especially the bottom 3 x16 lanes. I would say that' is for quad GPU's, and water cooled! Probably goes for a pretty penny still though!? Cool Find.

Your channel is cool. I do the exact same stuff you do but may not know every single way you get your deals. I appreciate you explaining that and the exact deals you get. You won't win paying retail for everything. I find that taking trade-ins is one of the best ways to get $$ on flips. It is friendly to your users, it excuses them from dirty components, and a little isopropyl + reverse osmosis water bath and you're in business. Now all you need is a Toyota with a timing chain so you can drive it forever. One of my license plates says "BUILDPC" and people really like that one. It looks like you have a chevy with a timing chain engine, that thing should last :)

Wow dude another great deal, I've been buying used stuff for many years and very rarely do I find a deal like this. Those Noctua fans are 3000 rpm 30$ a pop fans but they are more suited as case fans not radiator, I have a few of those 12cm and 14cm but I'm not very happy with them so switched most to Arctic P12 and P14, the problem with the Noctua 3000 is that over 1000 rpm they start making a lot of noise and at 3000 they sound like server fans at low rpm, using just 1 locked at 800 rpm.

Someone did a good job routing the pipes through the back, that is just starting to happen nowadays plus at leat 4 quality fans. I’d be inclined to sell case with the water cooling setup, it’s pretty much set up for most atx boards either way good deal for 40 especially if you just want a test board.
@ParksandRecs-x2w5 сағат бұрын
lol adventures in water cooling... I love the part where it sprayed out like a squirt gun. Now the funny part about this rig is that with a new cooling block, you could convert this whole rig into something modern and save most of that cooler which is by far where all the value is. Actually the case is pretty nice too. I find the quality of newer cases keeps getting worse as time goes by. Some of these cases, if they are in good condition, are going to be a lot more versatile than almost anything available today.

D5 pumps are good for high pressure flow, run quieter but dont have as much head pressure as DDC pumps which can push water through restrictions or tighter spaces better. general concesus is D5 pumps are better.

The enjoyment you got out of it was worth $40, and you will have no trouble parting it out for more. Yes, that water system was overkill for that CPU, but that is the thing with elaborate watercooling setups, they are overkill for anything, they aren't built for a need, they were built "because I can".

The X79 platform is still good and it can manage a lot of new GPU's. I had an Asus X79 Sabertooth motherboard with an Intel Xeon E5-1680 v2, It was an 8C/16T beast which I managed to overclock to 4.7 Ghz stable, together with 4x8GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance at 2400Mt/s(Mhz) memory and with 2xGTX 980Ti in SLI. To answer your question the I7's and Xeons for X79 on socket 2011 got extremly hot. Also I managed to mod the bios to support NVME SSD's in an PCIE slot, which allowed me to boot from that NVME, so it had pretty fast boot times.

Better to just disassemble these old water cooling computers next time, especially when so old, a DDR3 computer probably has been sitting for years and the rubbers will be dried out. I have been using water cooling since the early 2000's Koolance was a very good brand for complete solutions, a little bit expensive but very good. One time I had a pump fitting break and the water was going past my then new 9800 pro video card that was quite exciting.

This is why I prefer an AIO over custom water loops. I also would prefer a Noctua or Be Quiet! CPU Heat Sink & Fans. I would only use a 360 AIO if your overclocking.or using an i9 or AMD Ryzen 7000 or 9000 series Processor which can run a little too hot. With a Custom Water loop there is always a chance of water splashing on your PCB and shorting an SMD Components.

water cooling graphics cards is way easier they drop a ton of temperature with ease, high end cpu's not so much, well i say easier cpu's dont come with the headache of thermal pads on vrm and memory and lots of tiny mounting screws, and cards like RTX3090 or 4090 you have back of the card cooling issues with all the extra memory chips. To be fair that is a K variant meaning its designed to be overclocked.
