Put yourself in a theater. The leather of the seat that feels cool to the touch because you haven’t sat it in for hours, the lights on either side are still on, the hot popcorn bucket in your hands and the cool refreshment on either your left or right side. You recline back in the seat and go through the interactive or formal ads about cars, insurance, or about the cinema. Then, the lights dim and all the sudden sound comes from behind the left the right and in front of you. The light fills the room with the “power of cinema” This is the feeling of the movie beginning and you start devouring popcorn and get excited because you are watching a movie you had seen trailers of for a month. This is cinema at its finest

Anyone else have fond memories of being deafend by this intro? Jokes aside, I wish they would bring this back. Every time I would go to a theater I would see this play and know the movie was starting (and the sound design is amazing for this intro).

Same but it was mainly due to the volume. The Dolby sphere all around you logo did the same. I would wear wax or foam earplugs or wadded up paper to dampen the sound. Now I absolutely love both. Also THX would do the same.

I live in Hershey and they used to have this logo at a movie theater in my town known as the CocoaPlex Cinema whose digital projectors were made by DLP and was certified by Dolby Digital and they used to show the first logo I mentioned before the trailers because that’s what first comes up after they turn it on and then the Dolby Digital logo with the balls and the voice saying “All..around…you”
