Ange Postecoglou has been written off throughout every chapter of his illustrious career. Despite coaching for close to three decades now, the Australian manager has constantly faced a barrage of criticism and belittlement. Yet time and time again, he has proven the doubters wrong with each achievement more incredible than the last.
His journey to the top is unlike anything we’ve ever seen in football management. It’s a rollercoaster ride full of triumph, failure, and sheer adversity. This is the story of Ange Postecoglou

To the Prem snobs who keep commenting "iT's OnLy BeEn 8 gAmEs" understand that Ange's managerial career goes WAY BEYOND his appointment at Spurs. It is a career that has been building for 27 years. He's accumulated 21 trophies throughout this period and has left multiple legacies at the domestic level and the Australian national team. Believe it or not, there is a football world that exists beyond the Premier League! It remains to be seen whether Ange will truly succeed at Spurs, but to entirely discredit him so soon is insanity! Especially considering how well he's actually performed thus far in the Prem...LOL

Correct..it’s only 8 games in. However in those 8 games it’s better than most of the dire football served up by Nuno, Mourinho and Conte. Nobody had even heard of Arsen Wenger before he walked through the door at our rivals (sorry can’t bear to say the name) give the man some respect and let’s see how the season pans out for spurs. At least all spurs fans agree, we have our team playing on the front toot again.

I'm a 49 year old Australian, and a Spurs man since I was about 4. I made a little bit of money playing footballand saw the politics first hand. I can tell you from experience that Ange fought Australian football politics his entire career here. The people that have run football in Australia have been just awful. It's nepotism and protecting their own job that has kept the game back. Ange couldn't take it anymore and left. I bet he is living rent- free in all of their heads now. Go big man!

Its not even a thing of "keeping form up". Anges teams only get BETTER after six months of his teams learning his radical pressing system and intricate box rotations. He is an elite manager. And I don’t say it lightly. People always go on about Conte, Mourinho, Poch all the rest. This guy is a much better fit for Spurs than these guys and honestly if you take the CV away he is a better manager. But he has come from leagues that everyone thinks his next step is a step too far. And it never is. It’s not an accident and this path has kept him so humble and down to earth. Love the guy and miss him at my club Celtic but I understand and wish him and Spurs only the best. if you want to know more background story.. The chairman of Panachaiki FC in 2008 was a millionaire from Australia but with Greek roots and that how he brought postecoglou in Panachaiki. But in the next season the chairman resigned and the new chairman (most disgusting chairman in Greece) force Postecoglou to play other players than the Postecoglou wanted.. So that how Postecoglou resigned and came back to Australia. The rest is history. I can't believe that we had such a brilliant manager.. All the Panachaiki fans we are proud of Ange

I remember when Ross Mac , a big Celtic fan, wrote me a small essay on the benefits of Ange so at least I knew we were headed in the right direction. I expected the football to change and get a couple of pastings along the way (still could happen) but as long as the ethos was right, there was absolutely no complaints from me after having to deal with fossil football extrodinaires Mourinho and Conte - who barely looked at Bissoumaa nd Sarr, the mainstays of our midfield this season - and little but not too dissimilar Nuno .Now, we are unbeaten in 8, the first time since 61-62 season and playing the best football I've seen at Spurs for years, we're nowhere near the finished article but I can honestly say, I get super excited when we're on the TV again. Two manager of the months and two player of the months for Maddison and Son respectively. Long may it continue.....

Great Summary. If you want to understand what AngeBall really is you do need to concentrate more on what made him, South Melbourne, the NSL and the rivalries. The South Melbourne shirt was a heavy shirt to wear. Not only did you have to win but you had to do it in style to appease the 15,000- 20,000 supporters at Middle Park and make your community proud. If the Italians weren’t bad enough to play against, then you had Croatian, Maltese, Serb and even other Greek based teams clubs wanting to knock you off week after week. Every game was a derby for South Melbourne. This is where AngeBall comes from. It is Pre-Puskas. It is very much a migrant’s reaction to not wanting to be pushed around anymore and the mentality that I will win by outworking and outthinking my opponent. South Melbourne becomes the sanctuary where the supporter can go to feel good for a couple of hours. Ange as kid, rose up through this system and the crowd enjoyed watching Angeball even before they knew that that is what they were watching.

Fascinating how the European migrants within Australia have cultivated such a passionate football community. I think it’s why he has immediately settled in any European football environment. He just gets it
@KK-qi6mt
@KK-qi6mt 8 ай бұрын
@@DMac__ Of course he gets it because he was born out of privilege and without friends in high places. He has had to fight for what he has. That is the migrant experience because no one will give it to you. AngeBall is more than football. It is about vindication. Brisbane Roar, Melbourne Victory, Australia National Team, Yokahama Marinos , Celtic and now Spurs all appointed a coach with a Dad Bod who looks like he is waiting for a bus. Ange doesn’t have the same haircut and presentation as the other coaches. The presumption is what does Ange know about football. Look at him. This guy is a joke and at best he is lucky. AngeBall is about proving your doubters wrong through hard work and burning the candle at both ends. So as long as you have your Klopps who won’t accept a result and move on, AngeBall will find a way. So when the ball goes in the back of the net under AngeBall that is what makes it so sweet and the fans can’t get enough of it.

I was probably one of the few people in the country to see there was much more to this man’s ability as a manager than was the general consensus at that time if you looked at his management philosophy you could see he had many similarities to the top coaches in the game but was vastly underrated he is now proving those people wrong and Spurs are where they are on merit and I don’t see them dropping out of the top four if spurs hold onto him he will win trophies with them and likely end up as a legend at Spurs there fans have waited a long time for someone like him to come to the club and completely change the mentality of the players and fans and long may it continue as a Liverpool fan I don’t blame what happened in the game against us on Spurs they played really well and what happened took the shine off what was a wonderful advert for English football the more teams you have that can compete at this level the better and is the reason the premier league is the best in the world

Everyone seems to want to ignore that his first coaching job was at my old club Western Suburbs were he was a player manager at the start of the 1994 season before coaching us from the sidelines after we went on a good run and in second position on the ladder. He was from the very beginning a great motivator and instilled a belief and confidence in the players at his disposal. After that one season he went back to South Melbourne as an assistant to the great Ferenc Puskas before taking over the top job and the rest is history.

I'm really excited to see where this ends for Tottenham and what effect he will have. His style is so different, if he can be successful in the prem there will definitely be copycats and hopefully that makes soccer much more exciting as more coaches go attacking.

All the best managers in the league right now literally all play attacking football. Pep and Klopp are proven great and have been doing it for years, and then you’ve got De Zerbi and Arteta who’ve been just as impressive this season and even more proven in the league. Even Eddie Howe’s side are playing incredible football finishing top 4 and ripping apart psg in the champions league. Ange has literally just been knocked out of the efl cup and had a good run of form+ luck in only 8 league games lol.

I love it. Every know it all football pundit with a little islander mindset that is so prevalent in Britain is being made to look a fool. Well done Daniel Levy for actually going against the grain because the only constant in life is change and the people who put too much stock in the old way of doing things inevitably get left behind

As a Rangers fan, we pretty much all ridiculed him as a nobody when Celtic appointed him Celtic fans did too, but by god we were all wrong. He turned that club into a winning machine and he started without a full team. Alot of people don't realise last year Rangers had 95 points which wins the league 9/10 times but Celtic were that good, i think they lost 3 of the last 5 or something but the league was already won by then i think if they didn't go on that poor run at the end they would've finished on something like 104 which is ridiculous. We were so happy to see the back him, and we all pretty much knew he was the perfect man to make spurs what they should be. The english fans and media gave him the exact same criticism we all gave him. 2 and a half years ago and hes proving everyone wrong once again. Hes still a big gravy guzzler but hes some manager and I'm thankful hes not at Celtic anymore.

This was a really good video, up there with anything provided by The Athletic, who are the top dogs imo. I've done some reading up on Ange since he joined the club but your video helped fill in a lot of blanks. I was cautiously optimistic when he joined, having lived through the good times under Redknapp and Poch, to have to undergo the torture that was Mourinho, Nuno and Conte, it almost broke me. Certainly I could feel my interest waning in games. Ange has been a breath of fresh air, he's down to earth and relatable, while still being a fantastic coach and manager. I can't think of too many people that could have taken the team he inherited and turned things around so quickly. Sir Alex Ferguson perhaps but a) it wouldn't have been as entertaining, and b) that's some rarefied company there. I was expecting a rough start and I'm sure there will be bumps along the road, but Ange has already built up the goodwill he'd need to get past that. I'm not sure he would have got a full year of disappointing results before Daniel Levy pulled the trigger but I'm equally sure the chairman knew this was going to be a process. Now, my question to all of you who have been following his career much longer than I have. Is Ange the kind of manager that can withstand a long-lasting tenure at one club? He's regularly moved on, not staying anywhere longer than 2 years I believe. Are we (Spurs fans) going to be crying in our beers in 2 seasons time when Ange has moved on, or would he be likely to stick around and get us fully established in this style, and at the top, top end of the table?
